The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL]
Chapter 394: Not a Fox

Chapter 394: Not a Fox

Perhaps, Bai Mo mused, it was Xu Zeng’s confidence that made him so captivating. His straightforwardness was a refreshing change from the usual dance of social niceties.

It was somewhat similar to the relationship he had with Xu Feng, but somehow different.

As the two of them sat in companionable silence, the air between them tinged with possibility, Bai Mo couldn’t help but wonder where this connection might lead and also where Xu Zeng had gained his audacity from.

Even if one was caught in this situation, shouldn’t he avoid speaking so straight forwardly?

Even if they are both gers, both sometimes gers, they should speak about marriage and partnerships in a more tactful manner. Then again, Xu Feng was known for being quite shameless at times.

Xu Zeng was definitely Feng Feng’s brother. Bai Mo continued to peep at the other man tactfully. He couldn’t restrain the smile that lit up his own face brightly.

But the silver haired ger’s smile was too stunning. He wanted to change the subject, but at the same time, Bai Mo also wanted to learn more about Xu Zeng’s feelings on marriage.

Bai Mo was already an old, old bachelor. He was 20 years old and unmarried. If the new year came and went, he would then be 21 years old and despite being the head of a first class family, he would need to start paying the government a fee to remain unmarried.

That was only if his father’s connections in Yilin town were strong enough and had weathered time unscathed. There was also the chance a marriage would be made for him against his will.

There was only so much time silver could buy him before this happened. The political waters in Yilin town were deep.

Knowing the Kang family, while they weren’t as powerful as his crippled Bai side branch family, they would do what they could to smear his name and authority. If they had their way he would likely be married to an old man from some distant village or other.

*Kang Han, his former fiance

Bai Mo was beginning to get agitated as he thought of his former fiancé and the Sun family of Yilin. There was always so much at stake.

If he had his way, Bai Mo would like to be loved, and to love someone in return. He had even changed his mind on monogamy recently.

Seeing Xu Feng’s happy relationship with two husbands, Momo was no longer opposed to the idea. But he’d seen so many sad stories, so much cheating in his circles, and too much general unhappiness to be so naïve.

Marriage was a tool most times.

His parents were foolishly in love. It was foolish, but he wanted to be foolish too.

A gentle touch reached out and straightened his wrinkled brows. The furrowed brow had snuck up on him as his thoughts spiraled but Xu Zeng had unconsciously reached out to straighten them with care.

Bai Mo looked up once again at the ger in front of him. He wanted to take a bride or husband into his Bai family, even if there was no love between them as long as there was mutual respect that was all he cared for.

No matter who he picked, they would have to undergo the spittle of the upper class families in Yilin. And now he had somewhat rekindled a connection with the Bai and Deng families in Jinghua he would need to interact with them to some extent.

Was it fair to bring Xu Zeng into all of that? Was he willing to be part of the Bai family?

To be part of Bai Mo’s family.

Bai Mo’s thoughts churned like a tempest within him, swirling with uncertainty and doubt as he grappled with the weight of his own desires and the complexities of his social standing.

Hopefully, the main Bai and Deng families wouldn’t be too much of a dilemma with the hint Xu Feng had given him... If Xu Zeng was willing, Bai Mo would work hard to be taken seriously by first rate families even in Jinghua.

Still, Bai Mo blushed at the small touch from the other, he hadn’t intended to go into marriage with his whole heart, but maybe it wouldn’t be too bad.

They’re both foxes after all! This would also be a good union for any of their future offspring. Bai Mo seemed to be possessed by Xu Feng, so much so, that he blurted his revelation to the other ger.

"I... I’ve been thinking about marriage," Bai Mo confessed, his voice tinged with uncertainty. "I’m getting older, and... and the pressure to marry is mounting. But... but I don’t know if I’m ready. And even if I am, there are so many obstacles in the way."

Xu Zeng listened intently, his expression thoughtful as he absorbed Bai Mo’s words. He could sense the weight of responsibility that burdened the other man, the fear of societal expectations and the longing for something more than just a marriage of convenience.

"It’s not an easy decision to make," Xu Zeng replied, his voice more gentle than usual. "But know that you are not alone in facing these challenges."

Was this a green light? Bai Mo’s brows jumped up. In the short time he’d known Xu Zeng, the other ger wasn’t half as gentle to anyone other than Da Long and Xiao Long!

Should he take his chances and be more bold? He should be shameless just like Xu Feng!

"We are both of strong fox bloodline descendants," Although Xu Feng was the cause of his bloodline awakening this was still true, "We would definitely be able to make strong immortal bloodline children!"

Immediately, as the words came out of his mouth, Bai Mo wanted to crawl under the table.

No, the table was creating distance between them already, he wanted to run up Nanshan Mountain, the wild boors could do what they will with him!

Xu Zeng furrowed his brows for a moment, too long of a pause, before speaking. Every second made Bai Mo’s face pivot between beet red and a flushed and lifeless color.

He couldn’t decide if he should be mortified or just embarrassed. Could he be both at once?

Again, the boors, they could have him! If he got up and ran for the mountain forest, could he outrun his mouth?

"I’m not a fox." Xu Zeng said somewhat indignantly. "I can easily get you preg—"
