Chapter 372: Two Dragon Eggs

Chapter 372: Two Dragon Eggs

The resemblance of the two eggs to ostrich eggs extended beyond size alone. Their shape and texture mirrored those of the larger avian non-relative. Adding to the charm resonant of an emu egg, the pair exhibited vivid and captivating colors.

Unlike the typical smooth surface of more common eggs like chicken eggs, these eggs boasted a peculiar texture. This unique texture made it easier for the eggs to navigate their surroundings unharmed—this was why they were now confined to the basket.

Whenever given the freedom to roam outside the basket or one of their designated confined resting spots, keeping a watchful eye on the mischievous eggs required more than just Xu Zeng.

If the caretakers did not include Xuan Jian, Xiao Momo, or Xiao An, Da Long, in particular, would seize the opportunity to escape and hide in some obscure nook or cranny for hours on end.

While the eggs shared a similar size, telling them apart wasn’t a challenge. Beyond their differing temperaments, preferences, and dislikes, the distinct coloring of each egg set them apart.

Both eggs featured intricate patterns of gold and black flecks, accompanied by a few rings adorning their surface. The differentiating factor lay in their base colors—Da Long, or Big Dragon, displayed a greyish hue, while Xiao Long, or Little Dragon, sported a silver base.

These weren’t your average modern Easter eggs; they were a hardcore version, and no Easter rabbit was responsible for their existence. Instead, credit belonged to a certain silver haired ger.

These eggs held a unique significance beyond their captivating design and the vibrant vitality they emanated. They were Xu Zeng’s family, the cherished legacy left behind by his brother.

The mystery of how his brother had found a partner with a bloodline potent enough to mate in this remote corner of existence still eluded Xu Zeng.

There were no true dragons in this low level world, the one dragonborn bloodline had long since gone extinct, but Xu Feng had somehow found one on an adventure from a higher plain. His brother was quite skilled.

The fact that Xu Feng had not only discovered a full blooded demon beast with a unique and robust bloodline but also mated with a true dragon left Xu Zeng in awe.

Given the opportunity to choose a mate from all of the higher realms, Xu Feng had selected one that ranked among the top five—an extraordinary union that only deepened the mystique surrounding these not so little eggs.

In this realm devoid of true dragons, Xu Feng’s exceptional skills had led him on an adventure to discover one from a higher plane. The fact that his brother had accomplished such a feat showcased his prowess.

Xu Feng not only encountered a dragon but managed to convince the young dragon to bear offspring at a tender age. Considering the challenges often associated with bloodlines of such power in producing heirs, Xu Zeng initially wondered if fertility had been the bargaining chip his brother utilized.

Their bloodline—Xu Feng and Xu Zeng—would be highly sought after in higher realms for their fertility, but in a lower realm, they were basically sterile.

Did Xu Feng want children very badly to mate with such a young dragon? They were still so young and had their entire lives ahead of them...

Dragons often mate for life. And Xu Feng’s dragon mate was clearly holding to this principle and seemed to be seriously mourning Xu Feng’s loss even while trying to care for their eggs.

Both of Xu Feng’s mates were mourning his loss in their own way. This didn’t make Xu Zeng happy, but it did reassure him of his brother’s choice of mates.

A simple uptick of Xu Zeng’s lip formed a smile as he lovingly reached out to stroke Xiao Long, paying no mind to Da Long’s potential escape.

His affinity, unlike his brother’s snake lover, wasn’t fire. Xu Zeng almost wished for a warmer affinity, similar to Xuan Yang, who had been in the capital city of Jinghua for nearly a month.

The warmth exuded by Xuan Yang attracted even the standoffish dragon cubs, making them more inclined to be around this "father."

On the other hand, Xu Feng’s lover with a thunder affinity, the dragon, enjoyed the playful interactions with the two eggs when they felt like it. Da Long and Xiao Long clearly inherited their temperaments from their dragon "papa."

This papa’s bloodline was also the only one strong enough to impregnate Xu Feng.

As for the black snake lover, an "Immortal Bloodline Carrier," of this backwoods continent, Xu Zeng dismissed the significance of his bloodline, considering him nothing more than a garden snake.

Despite Xu Zeng’s nonchalant attitude, Xu Feng harbored affection for the garden snake, who had to retreat to the capital due to familial issues concerning his oh so, prominent family.

They didn’t even know what type of blood their "daughter in law" carried and they were fussing so much about Xu Feng.

The displeasure Xu Zeng felt toward the Xuan family faded quickly as his attention shifted back to the two dragon cubs.

The two dragon cubs were already doing whatever they pleased with whoever they pleased. While Da Long liked to make a show of resistance to Xu Zeng—showing that he clearly knew, this was not his dad—the one being resisted found the protests adorable.

He couldn’t help but tease Da Long. Just a little.

Both Xu Feng’s children were so lively and filled with life. It was like they would break from their shells at any moment, and if there was enough source energy there would be nothing holding them back.

Yet, as Xu Zeng observed the lively scene, a hint of gloom clouded his eyes. The mountains called to him, a call he couldn’t ignore.

Stranded in this energy starved realm, he couldn’t comprehend how his brother effortlessly accessed the shared space between them. Even in Dongmen, the abundance of crystal cores from hunting zombies failed to grant him the same freedom to come and go in their space.

"Hah," A heavy sigh escaped Xu Zeng’s lips.
