In the heart of the solitary mountain estate, nestled between the colossal peaks of Nanshan, tranquility reigned supreme under the midday sun. A quietude blanketed the surroundings, casting a serene spell that marked the boundary between the realms of civilization and the untamed mountain ranges beyond.

There was an otherworldly allure to this place, a beauty that transcended mere aesthetics. It held an eerie charm, a blend of the natural and the manmade, a peculiar harmony that defined the place Xu Feng had called home in this isolated world.

Despite its lack of substantial energy, it beckoned this newcomer willingly, becoming a sanctuary with a strange allure that defied easy explanation. It was where Xu Feng had stayed willingly, and he was unwilling to leave it for too long.

Towards the rear of the expansive Nanshan Estate, adjacent to a still pond filled with life, a figure with silver hair sat beneath the shelter of a gazebo. His gaze, distant and contemplative, was fixed on the majestic mountains on the horizon.

Almost too tall and possessing an androgynous beauty that balanced delicately between femininity and masculinity, he fit in well enough among the towering men who shared this estate, exuding a calmer energy distinct from the haunting presence of a similar looking ger that once graced the grounds.

Though the mountains called to him, today held a different responsibility. On any ordinary day, he might have surrendered to the beckoning wilderness, disappearing into the mountains only to return later to his cherished family to revitalize himself.

Yet, today demanded a different choice—keeping a watchful eye over his young family, he had been forbidden from venturing into the woods without a cause...well even with his usual reasoning, it wasn’t important enough.

Xu Zeng, unaccustomed to following orders, felt the weight of compromise settling upon him. He had once been good at taking orders from his "family," in Sun Village, but that felt like many lifetimes ago.

His more recent adventures in Dongmen and the awakening of his inheritance, had changed him. From a meek "yes man" to a ger...no a man, who did as he pleased. Living in the lawless lands of Dongmen had awakened his demon beast instincts like no other.

He prided himself on being more "wild" and "untamed," a lethal force of nature. But though all that was true, Xu Zeng was also an uncle now. An uncle to two unhatched eggs, that needed protection.

A lot of protection. His family was too valuable to be discovered by human cultivators, or other demon beasts.

Xu Feng’s long slender hand extended toward a large, overfilled basket cradling two precious eggs. With a gentle touch, he stroked the shells, pouring affection and energy on the unhatched lives within.

In the absence of their mother, he strived to provide solace, aware that while young demon beasts didn’t necessarily NEED maternal or paternal guidance, it played a crucial role in their growth.

Energy from the adults of their clan would help them grow stronger and develop faster, but then again, these eggs had clearly been nurtured well even before he showed up two months ago.

They had been showered with attention and resources he and Xu Feng had never received and were already larger than the size of an ostrich egg when they entered the world.

The two fat eggs, nestled comfortably in the basket, were evidence of the care they had received before his arrival and after it. They largely surpassed the size of ostrich eggs, and were now nearly three times the size of an ostrich egg—not quite there yet, but almost there.

The orbs of life seemed on the verge of hatching, their weight and proportions indicating an imminent emergence into the world. In the short span since his arrival, they had thrived, growing larger and heavier, ready to shatter their shells and start on the journey of existence.

Xu Zeng pondered the possibility of the eggs continuing to flourish if granted access to his brother’s greenhouse. Would they grow so big, they would just shatter their shells even without enough of a catalyst?

The two orbs seemed to have developed a unique harmony in drawing energy from their dad’s spirit plants, striking a balance that sustained their own growth without hindering the spiritual plants within.

The entire arrangement struck Xu Zeng as undeniably cute, each movement and interaction of the eggs capturing his heart. In his eyes, everything the two eggs did was filled with an irresistible charm.

These demon beast eggs, much like himself and his brother, displayed remarkable resilience and adaptability. They could endure in the absence of their mother, unfazed by the need for immediate hatching.

There was no rush for these two eggs. In fact, they were strong enough in bloodline to still be viable after a few millennia, but in turn it took so long for the eggs to hatch without an adequate amount of external energy.

In the middle of this barren landscape with Dongzhou’s protective barrier in place, somehow Xu Feng had nurtured these exceptional eggs, transforming them into vitality rich little ones even in this desolate place.

As if in agreement with this sentiment, the chubby eggs displayed lively movements within their basket. One wiggled closer to the still outstretched hand, while the other seemed to scuttle away as if warding off an impending catastrophe.

The animated dance of the eggs hinted at a whimsical drama. If Da Long possessed the ability to articulate his thoughts, he might humorously express something similar to, "Germs, eww!" or maybe even a playful shout of "Cooties!"

Xu Zeng’s lip twitched slightly in response to the nonverbal abuse he was receiving from his big nephew.

There were little to no animal sounds overhead, as the birds seemed to give this area a wide berth. There were scary demon beasts congregated under the gazebo.

Xu Zeng considered himself stubborn—after spending over 6 months in Dongmen—but this one was even more so. Or maybe it was just in their blood to be stubborn?

Either way, the stubborn egg was cute. He couldn’t be upset with the egg for being defiant.
