Chapter 357: Little Momo & Little An
Chapter 357: Little Momo & Little An
"AHEM" Xu Feng redirected the little boy’s curiosity. Not that it wasn’t cute watching the little hands groping at the bed curiously.
Xu Feng had found himself being pulled along by the enthusiastic children, the king sized bed momentarily transformed into a table in his playful imagination.
With a playful glint in his eyes, Xu Feng initiated a conversation about the bed, eager to hear the children’s thoughts. After all, if all went well with Midwife Lee, they would live here in the future, and have their own table styled bed if they wanted one. It wasn’t out of the question, likely only out of the budget temporarily.
"So, do you like the table, ahh," he teased, catching himself in the slip of words, "...the bed."
The two children exchanged glances, as if engaged in silent contemplation about the appropriate response.
While a 5 or 6 year old would typically voice their thoughts freely, Xu Feng acknowledged that his experience had mostly been with bear like children, who tended to be more straightforward in expressing their opinions.
Many children in Dongmen were bear children, although that may have changed with the start of the apocalypse.
The girl, more reserved in her demeanor, offered her observation first. "It’s very tall," she remarked, her words carrying a hint of thoughtful consideration. Meanwhile, the little ger reached up to rub his head, the touch of the big, cold hand leaving an impression.
"Soft," he chimed in with a joyful nod, a small grin forming on his face. The bed, it seemed, had earned the little one’s approval, making his bottom very happy as wiggled a bit, from side to side.
Xu Feng, amused by their adorable responses, contemplated delving further into the children’s preferences. Unknown to him, the idea of designing a child friendly room for the siblings had already begun to tickle his creative instincts.
While he usually gave almost all decision making rights about his eggs’ needs to Xuan Jian and Xu Si—she was designing diapers and toys from sketches he’d given her—this presented a unique opportunity to add a splash of fun and color to the lives of the walking, talking kids.
Right now the natives of Donghua likely knew best when it came to his little dragons, but he could add more fun experiences for the two children that might spend time with his eggs.
The idea of their interaction with his little dragons in the future added an extra layer of excitement. Xu Feng couldn’t help but envision a lively and vibrant space for the children, where laughter and joy would blend seamlessly with the warmth of Nanshan Estate.
As the children settled comfortably onto the bed, their initial reservations melted away in the softness of the cushioning The room, a haven of simplicity and warmth, bore witness to their newfound ease as Xu Feng continued to soften them in conversation.
Their voices, like tiny melodies, blended with the ambient hum of Blooming Courtyard.
Having explored the differences between his bed to standard and nonstandard—platform beds for nobility—beds in Donghua, highlighting its differences from traditional ones, Xu Feng sensed a need to shift the topic delicately.
Uncertain if the children had been taught about "stranger danger" or if they were just weary from being raised in an abusive home, or from being outcasts in Han Village, but he didn’t want to make them too uncomfortable as they got to know each other.
With the blessings of Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang, who observed the interactions with approving eyes, Xu Feng posed the next question, his tone friendly and inviting. "What’s your name?"
This time, the children responded with an ease that suggested familiarity with the uncle who loved to ask a million and one questions and share his knowledge.
The girl, beaming with pride, shared, "My name is Song An. No! Dad said my name is Lee An now. We aren’t part of the Song clan. They don’t want us in their clan, but Dad wants us in his family."
Meanwhile, the little ger, now happily bouncing on the bed—a trick taught by Xu Feng—giggled as he declared, "Song Mo!" But, Lee An corrected him promptly, her pride shining through.
"Not Song An, you are Xiao Lee Mo! Part of Dad’s little clan!" Her words echoed with a sense of belonging and acceptance.
Xu Feng, caught off guard by this revelation, felt his brain buzzing and ringing with excitement. The desire to shout out the discovery tugged at him, and he couldn’t resist pinching both Xuan Jian and the scholarly and slightly pretentious looking Xuan Yang.
His eyes practically screamed, ’I found Xiao Momo!’ Though unsure if Xuan Yang fully grasped the significance of his expressive glances, Xu Feng attempted a whispered "Momo."
The immediate eye roll from Xuan Yang, accompanied by a light pinch from Xuan Jian, suggested that, in the midst of their playful interaction, the two men were indeed ’wild animals’ and were indifferent to the revelation of finding a little Momo.
Or maybe they were just jealous ass snakes! He’d found a little Momo and they didn’t even care!
"Xiao Momo..." Xu Feng called out quietly, testing out the name as it rolled off his tongue. The little ger paused his bouncing and looking up at him with wide eyes.
"Xiao Momo and Xiao An." Xu Feng said more confidently this time, a small smile tugging at his lips.
Lee An looked at Xu Feng for a minute as if her brain was still buffering, but then a bright smile dawned on her face.
She had heard other children being called affectionately by their relatives and even their friends, but they had no friends in either village and no family called them anything sweet.
When in the Song family, the old woman would call her a little bi*ch, and the old man and her father didn’t even talk to her at all.
When their surname turned to Lee and they moved to Han village, no one talked to them, they were outcasts. The others surnamed Lee treated them like they were invisible, disgraces to the name Lee.
Dad said they weren’t part of the same Lee clan, so they could ignore everyone else, only their three Lees mattered.
Dad was the best, and did everything for them, but only ever called her Song An, then Lee An, and called Mo, Song Mo, then Lee Mo.
Now, she was Xiao An, and her brother was Xiao Momo, she liked it a lot.
