What was intended as a simple breakfast turned into a leisurely brunch, the time slipping away unnoticed as the three savored each bite of food. The change in schedule didn’t dampen Xu Feng’s enjoyment of their meal; if anything, it heightened the sense of relaxation as he watched his lovers.

As Xu Feng observed Xuan Yang and Xuan Jian digging into the meal he had prepared, he couldn’t help but feel a sense of satisfaction.

While he didn’t consider his culinary skills to be anything extraordinary, the way his husbands always eagerly devoured the food he personally prepared spoke volumes. From eyes to heart.

Despite their late morning rise and the lingering traces of sleepiness in their expressions, both men appeared impeccably dressed and groomed—with only a few stray hairs out of place—for the day ahead.

It was a charming sight, their more formal attire compared with their drowsy states, giving them both endearing qualities that warmed Xu Feng’s heart.

Throughout brunch, Xu Feng found himself captivated by the sight of his husbands’ drooping eyelids and the occasional tilt of their heads as they fought to maintain proper posture. It was a rare glimpse of vulnerability from two individuals who usually exuded strength and confidence.

As they lingered over their meal, Xu Feng couldn’t shake the feeling of contentment that washed over him as he watched all the eye candy placed in front of him.

First, he glanced over at Xuan Jian. Xuan Jian always gave him the feeling of a general but there was more to this today—a disheveled general or warlord was attractive in its own right, he just needed an outfit change to match the fantasy.

There was no outfit change needed for Xuan Yang though, it made the fantasy easier to visualize—a disgruntled scholar, drowsy after several late nights studying. Still charming, scholarly, dripping with hormones, and sexy...

The start of brunch was nice and calming, but as time went by, Xuan Yang began to feel a bit of indigestion. He was forced to endure a certain ger’s leering and the obvious licking of his lips.

Truthfully, Xuan Yang wanted to acquiesce to the perverted ger, but Xu Feng was so full with child!

Xuan Jian on the other hand could barely withhold his laughter. But somehow, he was able to finish his breakfast in the strange atmosphere Xu Feng had created.

There would be no sexual intercourse for the silver haired pervert who looked like he was trying his hardest and failing to be discrete.

Before this side quest to maintain some of his dignity in front of two pieces of eye candy, Xu Feng had accomplished much with Xu Hu Zhe. He wasn’t sure Hu Zhe had fully digested all the information he’d shared about Xu Zeng.

If he had understood, he seemed to take the news in stride, and was...happy? It was strange, but Xu Feng dismissed it. It was more important for Xuan Jian to deal with the matter with Steward Wu and for someone to be aware of Xu Zeng’s presence and relation to him.

Xu Feng also had to make final preparations to welcome his children. Making do with their pitiful funds in such a huge estate was one thing, but with the children, he never wanted to wonder where their next meal would come from.

Finally, pulling himself from the two men in front of him, Xu Feng was able to excuse himself from the table. He wasn’t very interested in the meal to begin with, it was more about spending time with the men.

Excusing himself from the table, Xu Feng felt a pang of guilt at leaving as Xuan Jian’s eyes followed him questioningly. Leaving the table before the two were through with their meal was very uncharacteristic of Xu Feng.

Assuring Xuan Jian with a reassuring smile, he promised, "I’ll be right back," before slipping away from the dining area.

Making his way to his now empty room, Xu Feng navigated through the familiar surroundings until he reached the hidden compartment concealed within the bed frame. Unlike the other compartments that held trivial items and even his special "educational" materials, this one contained his most valuable possessions.

While he had recently ’acquired’ a space ring capable of storing his valuables, he hadn’t yet transferred all of his belongings into it, opting instead to keep his currency hidden within the bed frame.

As he retrieved the stash of currency from its hiding place, Xu Feng couldn’t help but marvel at the amount of wealth that had accumulated over the past month.

Xuan Jian’s efforts in hunting resulted in a substantial sum of copper and silver. He had been hunting with a few of the martial artists every other day, some days spending several nights in the forests and mountains deeper in Nanshan when he could.

Xuan Jian had been taking out his own expenses before handing over the remaining bulk to Xu Feng, and there was still so much.

With the weight of the coins in his hands, Xu Feng made his way back to the dining table where Xuan Yang and Xuan Jian awaited him with curious expressions. Setting down the pile of currency, he began the meticulous task of counting each coin and separating them into categories and separate strings.

The raw pieces of precious metal gleamed in the sunlight, their value unmistakable as Xu Feng carefully arranged them into neat piles. A ring of 100 copper coins equaled 1 silver tael, and 10, 000 silver taels equaled a gold tael.

The crude money actually amounted to a bit of wealth. Xuan Jian had worked hard in around 10 separate hunting trips. He hunted several animals per trip, those with intact furs and in the best conditions were sold whole, and breeds of wild animals that were good for Xu Feng’s pregnancy or those with damaged carcasses were brought home.

There was more than enough meat at home even though their chickens and ducks weren’t yet big enough to eat.

As the final tally was made, Xu Feng’s gaze met Xuan Jian’s furrowed brow and Xuan Yang’s pursed lips.

Wild animals were rarer in Yilin Town as there weren’t many hunters in the surrounding villages, and many hunted to survive with the recent bad weather extremes. Considering wild game cost a pretty penny, most meat was more expensive, Xu Feng was satisfied, but the other two didn’t seem very impressed.

"We have a total of 14 taels of gold, 609 taels of silver, and 54 copper coins."

The typical farming family made around 10 taels of silver a year, and while he didn’t know what a family living in town lived off, Xu Feng didn’t feel as pressed for money as he did before Xuan Jian began hunting more frequently.

It was obvious both men were accustomed to having more money available to them living in the capital.

"Don’t pull such long faces," Xu Feng tried to placate them, "Our household spends no more than 100 taels of silver a month, more like 60 taels. Of the money given by Lady Xuan, we should spend much less than the typical estate."

Even if Xu Zeng needed to take care of their finances, they would be well taken care of for several years without an income—and he doubted there would be no income even if he was gone.

Xuan Jian could hunt, and his jam and wine business was still viable! It only needed a market.

The two men looked like they were set on hunting even more dangerous animals. Just those blue boars were enough to send a shiver down Xu Feng’s spine. Even the goat was massive. What would a bear or mountain lion look like in this world?

"No more hunting!" Xu Feng added hastily, temporarily moving their silver into his ring before they could finalize their plan. "I should be due soon, we should spend more time together."

"We can hunt more during confinement." This statement from Xuan Yang seemed to calm Xuan Jian down.

"Hmm," He nodded in agreement, "We need to prepare rooms for the midwife and a doctor."
