This Chapter is from a certain lanky reptile’s perspective (Xu Hu Zhe)

Xu Hu Zhe crouched quietly in their corner of the courtyard, his gaze fixed on the intricate patterns of the cobblestone pathway. He wasn’t one to draw attention to himself, preferring the solace of his own thoughts to any bustling activities around him.

The scales on his face, remnants of his deeply hidden lineage, glinted softly in the sunlight, a reminder of his unknown past and his uncertain future.

Despite his humble origins, Xu Hu Zhe had found a place among the lucky members of the Xu family, thanks to the benevolence of Xu Feng.

The young master had taken him in, offering him shelter, education, and a sense of belonging that he had never known before. But with this newfound security came a burden of knowledge, secrets that he carried silently within him.

He wasn’t ashamed...only a little...he mainly didn’t want to cause any trouble for Xu Feng. It was obvious to him why and how his "immortal bloodline," came to be. Just like it had become apparent how Bai Mo’s had become apparent as well.

All the tea, and foods from Xu Feng’s greenhouse was suspicious but not everyone was privy to Xu Feng’s greenhouse. Not everyone knew as much as he did.

Xu Hu Zhe might even know more of Xu Feng’s secrets than his husbands’ did...He was also pampered by Xu Feng at every turn...

Connecting the dots wasn’t difficult because Xu Feng had drawn the line for him in the sand.

Xu Feng was present or at least had a hand in all four immortal beast bloodline carrier’s strange increase in potential. From Xuan Yang, himself, Bai Mo, and even Xuan Jian—even though he wasn’t from Dongzhou, all their potential seemed to have gotten stronger around the silver haired ger.

Even though Xu Feng was strange in so many ways, he was a benefactor in many more.

Xu Feng’s gentle touch brought a sense of calmness to Hu Zhe’s racing thoughts. As his fingers traced the delicate patterns of scales on his face, Hu Zhe couldn’t help but feel a wave of gratitude towards his benefactor as his lashes fluttered against the foreign feeling.

Despite their differences in status and background, Xu Feng had always treated him with kindness and respect, a gesture that Hu Zhe cherished more than words could express.

Lost in the comfort of Xu Feng’s touch, Hu Zhe’s mind drifted back to the events of the fateful day when Xu Feng had insisted on tagging along with him.

The memory brought a flush of embarrassment to his cheeks, a reminder of just how curious and impulsive that Xu Feng could be. The Xu Feng right now was perfect in all his strangeness.

The silver haired ger from that day was somehow different but still strange. They looked the same and smelled the same as always....his smell might have been a bit different, but they were around the animals the majority of the day...

Xu Feng was likely already pregnant at that time. Xu Hu Zhe had been reading the pregnancy books Xuan Yang purchased recently, and a change in scent, memory, and even temperament, could be due to the pregnancy.

The perpetrator in question wasn’t aware of the mental gymnastics his quiet companion was going through. Instead, he was focused on getting down to business, "Any news from Bai Mo?"

With a nod of acknowledgment, Hu Zhe reached out to present the letter to Xu Feng.

The letter, crumpled and creased from its rough handling, bore the unmistakable signs of tampering. Xu Hu Zhe held it with a somber expression, the corners of his mouth downturned in disappointment.

It was clear that the seal had been broken and hastily resealed, a blatant disregard for the privacy of its contents. Xu Feng’s frown deepened at the sight, his brows furrowing in irritation. It was bad enough that Bai Mo’s correspondence had been intercepted, but to see it treated with such disrespect only added insult to injury.

"The servants at the Bai Mansion said it arrived like this," Hu Zhe explained, his voice tinged with frustration. He knew that they couldn’t afford to overlook any information, no matter the source.

Xu Feng let out a resigned sigh, his gaze lingering on the letter in Hu Zhe’s hand. Old foxes, they really were a den of old foxes. He and Bai Mo had anticipated such interference from the Bai family, and they had prepared accordingly.

"The old foxes of the Bai family are just being cautious," Xu Feng observed, his tone tinged with a hint of acceptance. "But Momo and I have already accounted for this." He glanced up at Hu Zhe, his eyes narrowing slightly as he considered their next course of action. They couldn’t afford to let their guard down in this world.

But as Xu Feng shifted uncomfortably on the hard, unforgiving bench beneath him, his thoughts drifted to more mundane concerns. He couldn’t help but long for the comfort of his own newly minted Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang model benches, with their plush cushions and sturdy frames.

The contrast between his custom models and this basic bench was blatant, and he found himself yearning for the familiar embrace of his husbands.

His gaze shifted to Hu Zhe, who stood tall and defiant, a stark contrast to the cold, hard bench on which he sat.

Without a second thought, Xu Feng blurted out his thoughts "You would make a comfortable chair." A faint hint of amusement tugging at the corners of his lips.

Xu Hu Zhe stood firm, meeting Xu Feng’s gaze with unwavering determination. At first, he refused to give the silver haired ger the satisfaction of seeing him flinch, despite the teasing in Xu Feng’s words.

Deep down, he knew exactly what Xu Feng meant by suggesting he would make a comfortable chair. A reminder of how the silver haired ger now often used his husbands as chair cushions interchangeably wasn’t too far off in his mind.

Suppressing a sigh, Xu Hu Zhe maintained his calm stance, knowing that indulging Xu Feng’s teasing would only encourage him further.

They had limited time before Xuan Yang and Xuan Jian woke up, and he didn’t want to spend it entertaining Xu Feng’s antics.

In the privacy of their conversations, Xu Feng had requested to be addressed by his name, ditching the formalities of their roles within the Nanshan Estate. Once they left its confines and the barriers of Yilin Town, Hu Zhe wouldn’t be able to call him "master" anymore, a change he was slowly adjusting to.

There were many things he needed to practice, but becoming a cushion wasn’t one of them!

It made sense and it was hard at first, but it felt natural to call this troublesome ger by his name. Xu Feng was more than a master to him after all, something more intimate than that sterile relationship. Still Xu Hu Zhe’s lips twitched as he remembered how Feng used Xuan Jian and Yang as chair cushions.

As Xu Feng settled comfortably and laid out the tampered note on his makeshift work table, then he paused as if he forgot something. Xu Hu Zhe observed him with a knowing smile.

It was typical of Xu Feng to forget something, a trait that seemed to have intensified since his pregnancy. Even before they went into that ghostly monster’s realm—Xu Hu Zhe shook a little at the memory of the domineering Dong Yang Ancestor, the specter from the Nanshan forests, that clearly didn’t like him or Xuan Jian.

Xu Hu Zhe’s smile faltered momentarily. The memory of the ghost’s domineering presence sent a shiver down his spine.

Pictures of Xuan Jian tripping and falling, as if nature itself conspired to make the athletic man kiss the ground were still fresh in his memory. The man who seemed to be one with the mountains was no match for the ruthless specter.

The old ghost didn’t like him, but at the very least, it didn’t make him get acquainted with the forest floor...

Clearing his hands with a swift motion, Xu Feng reached into the depths of his sleeves, pulling out four neatly wrapped meat buns and a jar of homemade jam...an entire jar! It was a shocking trick, the way he seemed to conjure so much food from thin air, without the aid of a storage ring.

For a fleeting moment, Xu Hu Zhe’s expression reflected the shock of witnessing such a feat. It wasn’t Xu Feng’s kindness that surprised him—he had grown accustomed to the silver haired ger’s generosity—but rather the sheer volume of food that emerged from his sleeves.

The meat buns, still warm to the touch, emitted a tantalizing aroma that filled the air around them. And the jar of jam, its contents glistening in the sunlight, promised a sweet and spicy treat.

And it was all for him...

With a gentle smile, Xu Feng extended the offerings to Xu Hu Zhe.
