The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL]
Chapter 335: Reflections

Chapter 335: Reflections

As the first tendrils of consciousness gently caressed Xu Feng’s mind, he felt as if he were floating on a cloud, cradled in the tender embrace of a dream.

All the worries and confusion of the previous night seemed to dissolve into the ether, leaving behind only a sense of tranquility and warmth, like a soft hug enveloping him in its comforting embrace.

In this dreamlike state, he felt loved, protected, and secure, as if a caring giant monster stood guard, warding off all the other monsters that lurked in the shadows of his mind. A friendly monster, that out monstered all the rest.

The Dong Ancestor, often came off as cold and distant, but he had consistently shown a surprising depth of care and concern, ensuring that Xu Feng was not merely alright, but truly calm, warm, and rested.

It was a realization that stirred Xu Feng from his hazy slumber, prompting him to slowly sit up in bed, cradling his burgeoning belly with gentle hands. The sensation was similar to being on the verge of bursting, like an overripe fruit ready to spill its secrets to the world.

In that moment, Xu Feng found a newfound respect for the trials and sufferings of pregnant women, realizing that their pregnancies were far from the simple and straightforward affair he had once imagined.

He almost wished he could have stayed ignorant...it wasn’t like he didn’t respect women...

Even in his own relatively mild pregnancy, he found himself succumbing to moments of brattiness, though he couldn’t entirely blame it on the hormones. He liked teasing both Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang, and his pregnancy gave him another opportunity to do so.

Yet, in the middle of all the challenges, he’d discovered a sense of contentment and fulfillment, relishing in the care and attention lavished upon him like never before. It was more than just teasing his lovers.

As he slowly extricated himself from the cocoon of blankets that had cradled him through the night, a pang of loss washed over him, as if he had bid farewell to a dear friend.

It was a curious sensation, one that left him pondering whether he was regressing into childhood, though he couldn’t recall ever having a personal blankie in his youth. He might consider making special blankies for his children.

With his silver hair in disarray and the soft hues of dawn filtering through the window, Xu Feng felt a strong sense of peace and gratitude wash over him, ready to face the day ahead with renewed vigor and resolve. With just a hint of tiredness sprinkled in for good measure.

He had a space ring. He passed the Xiucai exam. He would take the Juren exam in the fall if possible—he needed to start studying, it would be much more challenging than the Xiucai exam. There was a message from Lady Xuan and her husband...

As Xu Feng began to stretch his aching limbs in the soft light of the mid spring morning, his gaze shifted to his right, where he found himself not alone in bed. At the edge of the mattress, with his body sprawled on the bed but his behind still perched on a nearby stool, lay Xuan Jian.

Despite being the earliest riser among the three of them, today he remained deeply asleep, oblivious to his uncomfortable position. Xu Feng couldn’t help but scratch his own head in puzzlement, wishing for superhuman strength he could freely use with his bulging belly.

He wanted to ease Xuan Jian’s slumber induced discomfort. It was impossible to maneuver the giant into a more comfortable position with his swollen belly.

As Xu Feng gently stroked his belly, he felt a stirring within, as if at least one of the eggs was rousing from its own slumber, rubbing against his abdomen gently in return.

A sleepy head nestled in his belly, and a larger one occupied the corner of the bed. Life wasn’t too bad, not at all.

Quietly rising from the bed, Xu Feng gathered his blankets and clumsily covered Xuan Jian, planting a tender kiss on his fingers before pressing them to the other man’s temple.

Crouching was a problem too, and planting a kiss directly on Xu Feng’s brow was like a gymnastic feat for Xu Feng. It wasn’t happening.

Xuan Jian remained undisturbed, his breathing steady and deep, a show of his deep exhaustion. On a typical day, at this time, he would be out and about, completed his morning training and prepared for the day ahead.

After ensuring his lover was comfortably tucked in, Xu Feng set about tidying himself up for the day, casting a glance at the bronze mirror as he passed by. The reflection that greeted him felt unfamiliar, almost like a stranger staring back at him.

The man with silver hair and a bright red mole seemed out of place, his bulging belly threatening to throw off his balance at any moment. Despite knowing the reason for his enlarged belly, Xu Feng couldn’t help but marvel at its size, especially compared to his previous experience with pregnancy.

Xu Feng knew his belly was large. Thinking back to Xu Zeng’s cheap ’dad’ and his own pregnancy, his belly wasn’t as big as Xu Feng’s. But then again, Xu Feng’s appetite was something else after Xuan Jian stopped policing his intake of wild game.

Rubbing his belly once more, Xu Feng felt a gentle response, as if his unborn children were acknowledging his touch. A warm smile spread across his face, filled with the joy and wonder of impending fatherhood.

It was like basking in the warmth of rainbows and sunshine. Children truly were a marvel, and he couldn’t wait to welcome them into the world.

Would they end up being little tyrants one day? The idea of tiny overlords teaching Xuan Yang and Xuan Jian the ways of the world filled Xu Feng with immense joy.

Tyrants were okay, if they messed with their other fathers!

As Xu Feng moved calmly through the shortened morning routine, his movements were a delicate dance of efficiency and grace, despite the absence of his usual helpers.

Neither Xu Si, or Xu San were buzzing around that morning, likely busy with their own things—They were just as invested, if not more so, than Xu Feng in preparing for the children.

Xu San didn’t necessarily enjoy handicrafts as much as Xu Si, but now they both spent their free time in the craft room when they could, making items for the incoming children with gusto.

The sun was just beginning to cast its golden rays through the opened windows, illuminating the main corridors of Blooming Courtyard with a soft warmth.

In his private quarters, Xu Feng hastily tamed his unruly hair and exchanged his sleepwear for fresh clothing, his fingers fumbling slightly in his eagerness.

There was a lot of shimming involved, and the use of inanimate objects to keep his balance. Xu Feng felt like a circus performer at times, working hard to do normal tasks as if they were circus tricks.

Venturing into the bathroom, a small basin of steaming water awaited him, a thoughtful gesture from Xu Hu Zhe. Xu Feng couldn’t help but smile at the kindness of his second in command of mischief as he swiftly went about his washings, the brisk splash of water against his face invigorating him for the day ahead.

With his breath fresh, and his face clear, the day had already started off well.

Exiting the bathroom, a sense of purpose driving him forward, Xu Feng made his way through the quiet halls toward the craft room to find Si and San. But on his way, a figure in the study caught his attention.

There, he found Xuan Yang, his first husband, nestled on the couch in peaceful slumber. A pang of tenderness swept through Xu Feng as he observed the serene expression on Xuan Yang’s face, his heart swelling with affection.

Approaching the sleeping figure, Xu Feng repeated the gentle act of covering him with a blanket usually reserved for his own studies in this same room. He pressed a soft kiss into his fingers, then grazed them against Xuan Yang’s forehead, his lips pursed for a moment before reluctantly pulling away.

However, as Xu Feng turned to leave, his gaze fell upon the cluttered table nearby. Scrolls of paper lay scattered across its surface, some adorned with meticulously penned messages to Xuan Yang, while others bore the marks of crossed out words, evidence of the inner disorder plaguing his husband’s mind.

Closing his eyes briefly, Xu Feng felt a surge of empathy for Xuan Yang, a deep ache forming in his chest at the sight of his husbands’ silent struggles. The weight of the Xuan family’s expectations hung heavy in the air, casting a shadow over their happiness.

Both Xuan Yang and Xuan Jian were exhausted, sprawled in different corners of their home while Lady Xuan and Xuan Muyang were likely waiting for their demands to be met. The unfairness of the situation made Xu Feng upset.

He reached out to rub the ring around his neck. Neither the golden ring on his finger, or the silver one around his neck, had left his body last night as he’d fallen asleep and hadn’t prepared for bed.

Strangely, the rubbing filled him with a sense of calm.
