It wasn’t something he was looking forward to in the least.

The gossip had made Lady Xuan lose face, and calming her down seemed near impossible. For most people it would be impossible, but Xuan Yang didn’t spend all his time reading and learning for nothing.

He would just need to think harder, and be more convincing.

The incessant throbbing that lingered as he thought of his "family" that was so unyielding. However, the sight that greeted him as he leaned against the doorframe of their room washed away some of his fatigue and worry.

Seeing both of his lovers, Xuan Jian and Xu Feng, together in bed, resting peacefully, brought a genuine smile to Xuan Yang’s face. It was a beautiful sight, one that filled his heart with warmth and reminded him of the love and harmony they had built together as a real family.

In that moment, with the world outside forgotten, Xuan Yang couldn’t help but feel like this was his purpose in life. Protecting the two, and now two more. He needed to do and be more for them.

Thinking of the next letter he needed to send to Lady Xuan to keep her from visiting was more stressful than anything else on his plate. Even the idea of the "Dong Ancestor" as Xu Feng called it, was much less daunting.

Should he join them in bed? If he did, he wouldn’t be able to take in this scene anymore.

In the quiet confines of their bedroom, Xu Feng lay cocooned in blankets, sleeping deeply with the grace and allure that was uniquely his own.

His silver hair spilled over the pillows like a radiant waterfall, framing his vivid and three dimensional face. The infamous deep red mole adorned his glowing skin, accentuating his androgynous features. His lips, a bright and vivid shade of pink, were almost irresistible in their charm.

Beside him, Xuan Jian lay in a still pose, his tall, muscular frame a reassuring presence. His eyes, a striking shade of grey, seemed to emit a visible light as he watched over Xu Feng.

Long brown hair, still neatly tied in a topknot, accentuated his handsome face. Though relaxed, a faint smile graced Xuan Jian’s lips, barely visible from his, Xuan Yang’s, perspective. He appeared as the picture of protection and devotion.

Meanwhile, at the doorway, Xuan Yang stood with a scholarly aura that elevated his presence. A few ink stains marked his otherwise pale face, and his sleek black hair was impeccably arranged in a respectable style.

His clothes flowed lightly in the gentle breeze that swept through the room. The fatigue that had marred his features earlier had dissipated, replaced by an expression filled with life and spoke of love.

A small smile played on his handsome face, and his bright eyes were fixed on the scene before him with intense focus.

The pieces painted a beautiful picture of love and intimacy, from the two lovers nestled in bed to the one standing at the threshold. It was a moment of quiet tenderness, a snapshot of their relationship.

As Xuan Jian’s gaze shifted, he caught sight of Xuan Yang at the door.

Xuan Jian’s warm smile transformed into a silly, almost childlike grin as he spotted Xuan Yang, just the person he wanted to see. Excitement lit up his expressive grey eyes, and he eagerly raised his hand that was firmly rooted on Xu Feng’s belly, attempting to call Xuan Yang over to join in the tender moment with their unborn children.

But as he began to lift his hand, a sudden change swept over him. His vision blurred, and the smile was abruptly erased from his face. It was as though a vacuum had sucked away every ounce of strength from his body, leaving him feeling frail and bewildered.

He fought to remain propped up, careful not to wake the silver haired ger slumbering soundly beside him.

Seeing the confused and pained expression on Xuan Jian’s face, Xuan Yang sprang into action like a flash. He rushed over to Xuan Jian’s side and asked in a concerned and hurried tone, "What’s the matter? What happened?"

The confusing sequence of emotions that flickered across Xuan Jian’s features left Xuan Yang deeply puzzled. ’Wasn’t this a heartwarming moment? Why was he in pain?’

They had responded to his actions—first when he withdrew his hand after gently teasing them with pokes, and now, when he had offered no warning when withdrawing his hand and energy, they had instinctively sought to draw as much energy as possible from him.

These unhatched and unborn offspring, still within the mother’s womb, displayed an amazing thirst for energy, indicating that they might indeed be powerful little beings. It was an exciting thought that filled Xuan Jian with wonder.

Xuan Jian decided to enlighten the still confused Xuan Yang, "The children are hungry," he shared, his words somewhat cryptic.

Without trying to explain any further, he encouraged Xuan Yang to place his hand on Xu Feng’s belly, and although still uncertain, Xuan Yang complied without hesitation. At first, nothing seemed to happen, yet he felt warmth emanating from the ger’s belly.

"Now, remove your hand slowly," Xuan Jian instructed.

Following his lover’s guidance, Xuan Yang began to withdraw his hand. But before he could fully retreat, he felt it—a gentle but unmistakable bump against Xu Feng’s belly, followed closely by another one.

His brows furrowed, as if his big brain had been put to the test. Then, his face grew slack in shock.
