Chapter 266: Home at Last

Warm. Cool.

Cold. Hot.

Cool. Warm.

Xu Feng’s playful antics continued as he reveled in the luxurious comfort of the king sized bed. The two pads, one radiating warmth and the other offering a cool relief, watched with amusement as their energetic lover shifted from one side to the other. It was a dance of contrasts, a symphony of temperatures, and Xu Feng was the conductor of this unique orchestra.

As he rolled from the warm side to the cool one, his silvery hair tousled and his eyes half lidded, Xu Feng looked like a mischievous sprite caught in the throes of joy. The room was shrouded in darkness and the peaceful atmosphere made his playful antics all the more entertaining with their keen sights.

Warm. Cool.

Cold. Hot.

Cool. Warm.

The cycle repeated, a delightful pattern of movement that seemed to embody the essence of shared love and affection. The bed itself seemed to embrace him with its plush, inviting mattress, providing the perfect canvas for his playful masterpiece.

The heating pad, a grin on his face, marveled at the sight of his energetic lover. After days of quiet and low energy, it was a joy to see Xu Feng’s vitality return in full force. The room’s "temperature control" had been set to perfection, mirroring the fluctuations of his mood.

On the other side, the cooling pad observed Xu Feng’s antics with equal amusement. He watched as the silver haired ger alternated between moments of closeness and moments of rolling away, like a playful kitten exploring its surroundings.

A soft smile crept onto the cooling pad’s face, a reflection of the affection he felt for the charming troublemaker in their midst. Even in his half asleep state, Xu Feng had a way of capturing his heart and making him feel more complete.

Love, warmth, and happiness converged in perfect harmony.

Watching said troublemaker start to move his greedy little hands lower and lower on the heating pad as a grin snaked up his face, Xuan Yang was relieved.

The conversation he had with Xuan Jian wouldn’t need to become a reality. They were trying to decide if it would be best to request a visit from Doctor Ping. Actually, it wasn’t a normal conversation between them.

It was more of an argument. One of the few arguments they had since their relationship changed, from master servant to something more...

Of the few arguments they did have, most were about this little mischievous ger. But it wasn’t a bad thing to Xuan Yang. It was more good than bad.

Before it seemed like their relationship was somehow hollow. Not because of a lack of love or affection. They were very passionate with each other from the start. Xuan Jian made him feel alive in a way he never had. But was that enough?

He was the problem. He knew he was the problem.

Xuan Jian could be passionate, loving, angry, happy, sad, hurt, disgusted, a whole range of emotions. Ones that most should have. Still Xuan Jian could mask his emotions and he often did to protect himself and to protect their relationship.

For Xuan Yang, he didn’t need to mask his emotions, the aloofness Xuan Jian had to practice, came naturally or unnaturally to him.

He had never truly had all the emotions and all the whims that other children had. His "shield" wasn’t an actual shield, it was almost the entire range of his emotions. It was beyond just a cover that was cultivated by young masters to maintain their status and compete in political settings.

Xuan Yang knew he wasn’t whole. Something was missing. Living in the Xuan home had added to all of it, along with the coldness from his "family," and conditional love from Lady Xuan when there were benefits to be had. It had all played a part in whatever was wrong with him, but only a small part.

But with Xuan Jian he could share in that warmth that he never had. The ice that bathed him had something to keep it from growing colder and colder.

With Xu Feng and Xuan Jian together, everything had changed. From sharing warmth to thawing his ice. Everything was different.

Xuan Yang thought he could only spare his stronger emotions for Xuan Jian, but it turned out he could also be passionate toward their shared lover, Xu Feng, as well. He could feel even more.

They didn’t argue often—he and Xuan Jian—but they had argued a few times about their lover. And it wasn’t bad. It made Xuan Yang feel more normal. Like a real person with real meaningful interactions.

Said ger continued to move his hands lower as Xuan Jian watched the rascal. He was just happy Xu Feng was doing better after his breakdown the night before.

"Haaah," he breathed out as the first hand made contact with his "morning surprise." His lips lightly brushed against the rogue’s lips, and then Xu Feng burst into giggles, unable to maintain the seriousness of the moment.

"You’re supposed to be training," Xu Feng was right. Around this time, Xuan Jian would be practicing outside, and only Xuan Yang and Xu Feng would be left alone to sleep in a bit longer.

Xuan Yang would then rise before the sun rose and Xu Feng sometime after sunrise.

They already had a routine together.

Xuan Yang’s smile grew as the warmth spread to his eyes. They could put off seeing Doctor Ping for now. If Xu Feng could initiate some "early morning exercise," he shouldn’t still be feeling unwell.

Xuan Yang was fighting against his better judgement, but the wicked smile on Xu Feng’s face was bewitching. He didn’t want to anger his little lover.

"Little lover," Xuan Yang repeated aloud before leaning over and catching Xu Feng’s jawline.

The slow strokes against his profile sent a shiver down Xu Feng’s body. His eyes that were previously sending teasing messages to Xuan Jian, fluttered closed at the touch of the young master.

The kiss that followed was slow and tender and made Xu Feng feel present. Tingles and twitches like small electric shocks reminding him that he was home. This was home, and he was here again.
