Chapter 264: Returning Home

Cultivation was a time for peace and quiet, and focus on equilibrium, but Xu Feng in the silence, the warmth from the happy thoughts that filled his mind before he began cultivating, reigned supreme.

For his adopted parents and grandparents, for the parents he and his brother had never known, and for his lovers, Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang, and his adopted family, Xu Si, Xu San, and Xu Hu Zhe, he was willing to grow stronger.

His commitment extended to his new friend, Bai Mo, and to everyone who deserved a life filled with happiness, no matter how small or significant those moments of joy might be.

As he cultivated, his abdomen emitted a vibrant, radiant glow—a delicate fusion of green and white light that pulsed with energy.

A smaller, mirrored luminescence centered on his forehead bore witness to the energies coursing within him. This energy followed the intricate pathways within his body, converging at three distinct points within his belly, where it swirled and condensed, ever so subtly but undeniably growing stronger.

Xu Feng’s cultivation session had started as a tranquil experience, with his body immersed in the serene rhythm of energy circulation. The world around him had faded into the background, replaced by a sense of inner peace. The warm, soothing energies flowed through him, and he was content.

But as the session continued, an unexpected wave of dizziness washed over him, causing his concentration to waver. A slight twinge of nausea gnawed at his stomach, and for a moment, the world seemed to spin out of control.

He fought to regain his composure, steadying himself as the disorienting sensations gradually subsided. Something was different, though. As he completed his energy circulation, and slowly opened his eyes, he found himself in an unfamiliar place—a world that only he and Xu Zeng shared.

Across from him, his younger brother, Xu Zeng, sat in a similar state of cultivation. When their eyes met, both brothers broke into joyous smiles that mirrored the deep happiness that surged within them. It was a moment of pure, unadulterated connection.

Xu Feng had always believed himself to be somewhat detached, but in this moment, the emotions that welled up inside him were undeniable. He couldn’t help but feel like a "Suzy homemaker," overflowing in warm and fuzzy feelings that seemed to engulf his being.

"The greenhouse is ready for you," Xu Feng eagerly explained to his brother. His voice was filled with excitement as he provided detailed instructions. "You just need to check in occasionally. The systems are all automatic, so just make sure there is power, and you won’t have to do a thing..."

But as he spoke, the world around them began to blur and fade, and Xu Zeng’s voice, too, became distant and incomprehensible. It was as if they were caught in the grasp of a powerful force that was pulling them apart.

Xu Feng’s heart sank, and with a swift motion, he shot up to his feet, reaching out to embrace his brother. Xu Zeng didn’t hesitate either, and their warm and comforting hug instantly made the world seem right again.

Their separation was inevitable, they both knew this. But, Xu Feng wasn’t expecting it to happen so soon. The night before they were able to chat for a few more sentences, why was their separation so quick tonight?

Their looming parting was agonizing.

"You need gold?" Xu Zeng’s words reached him, though barely audible. Xu Feng frowned slightly but nodded in acknowledgment.

"Gold and crystal nuclei," Xu Zeng repeated, and Xu Feng nodded once more.

During this trip, it became apparent that Xu Zeng needed weapons to navigate the cruel and unforgiving world he was trapped in.

"How can I get you weapons?" Xu Feng wondered aloud, a tinge of annoyance at himself for not thinking of this earlier. He was determined to find a way to fill his brother with warm food, but he should provide his brother with the means to defend himself.

"Ring," Xu Zeng whispered, and in the next moment, their figures faded into black, and they were pulled apart, sent in different directions.

As Xu Feng’s eyes snapped open, he gasped for air, his chest heaving with an overwhelming sense of disorientation. His surroundings were familiar yet unfamiliar, the air devoid of the rancid stench of decay that had plagued his recent memories. Yet, he felt dizzy and nauseous, as if the very world was conspiring against him.

His mind raced, replaying recent revelations that had upended his existence. The discovery of a brother, a younger brother named Xu Zeng, had taken him from the solitude of an orphan to the realization that he was not alone in this world.

Born together but separated, they were likely the only demon beasts of their brood. The implications of this connection, all the reasons and emotions that surged within him, left Xu Feng feeling utterly overwhelmed.

In the midst of his inner turmoil, he yearned for his brother, an ache in his heart that seemed unbearable. "Zeng," he whimpered, tears streaming down his face. His emotional floodgates had burst open, and he could no longer contain the raw and wild emotions that threatened to consume him.

Xu Feng cried like he had never cried before, his tears flowing freely. Even in his earliest memories, he couldn’t recall shedding tears like this. The pain and longing were too intense to be held back, and he sobbed like a child lost in the vastness of the unknown.

And then, just as he felt himself drowning in his own grief, a voice, a heartbreakingly familiar voice, called out from the foot of the bed. "Feng Feng." It was a gentle, soothing call that pierced through the loudness of his despair.

Before he could fully comprehend what was happening, delicate but firm arms enveloped him, offering comfort and solace. "I’m here," Another voice, soft and reassuring, whispered soothing words into his ears, providing a lifeline of support in the midst of his emotional storm.
