Chapter 259: Vibrant Greenhouse pt.2

Right in the middle of the budding greenery, Xu Feng reclined in the heart of the greenhouse he had lovingly cultivated. The once empty planters were now brimming with a varied array of seeds, representing both the practical and the decorative.

Fruits would soon dangle from their vines, vegetables would shoot up from the soil, vibrant flowers would stretch toward the sunlight, and tubers would lay nestled beneath the rich earth. It was a microcosm of life, each plant a show of what this planet had birthed.

The ambiance, though still in its infancy, held a captivating charm. It lacked the dramatic allure and sweet fragrances of the Nanshan estate’s ample greenhouse, but even in its growing state, it possessed an enchanting calmness.

Enclosed within its glass walls, Xu Feng could almost imagine the birds playfully flitting among the leaves, serenading the air with their songs—a vision at odds with the grim reality of the outside world.

Yet, he knew that Xu Zeng would eventually savor this newfound calm. The plants although not all edible, the ones that were edible were easier to harvest, and would provide him with variety and nutrition.

As Xu Feng lounged amidst this growing paradise, he reveled in the space’s rejuvenating energy.

In the realm of cultivation and apocalyptic works, progress often demanded a delicate balance of draining and replenishing one’s energy, the embrace of new challenges, and the dance with danger on the cliff of life and death.

Xu Feng was in a new situation. Check one box.

He had also been overusing his energy and supplementing with crystal nuclei since he arrived the day before. Check box two.

He wasn’t sure about the near death situation thing. So, skip that box for now...

Instead, he had used all his wood energy on the greenhouse plants, until he felt like he would pass out, his head ached, and his stomach throbbed mercilessly before he sat down in the center of it all and absorbed the last of the neclei.

He had been eating lightly to conserve Xu Zeng’s food supplies, and his stomach seemed to be a bit fragile since before he transmigrated back to this world—could a stomach flu follow someone from body to body? World to world?

World hoping flus or not, the greenhouse looked even more lovely as the greenery increase in size and quality. Xu Feng hadn’t realized it because this was a much larger greenhouse than his own, but his abilities had grown drastically.

With one complete use or drain of his ability, the greenhouse went from empty to filled with sprouts, a few nearly budding—depending on the plant type. He couldn’t have done this in his own much smaller greenhouse just a month back.

His training on Nanshan mountain, the manual labor in this greenhouse, and the use of crystal nuclei had propelled his abilities to a level that was crazy fast. But then again, Xu Feng didn’t know what a normal cultivation growth should look like for a normal demon beast in Zhoujin or even an ability user here in Dongmen.

While he had missed 3 years in the void, then 15-16 years living a normal life, he wasn’t too far behind his peers of the demon beast world. Okay, he was still behind, but not far enough to be considered a waste.

He was catching up quickly, and the years wasted, were being bypassed smoothly, opportunities arising in strange places.

And in the backwoods continent of Dongzhou, he was already a prodigy that was gifted by the immortal beasts that came before him.

In the apocalyptic world, it was only 6 months into the end of the world, and in this space, Xu Feng was ahead by leaps and bounds. Who knew if he had the best potential in this world but at the very least, he was already using crystal nuclei, and he knew how to circulate his energy which others didn’t know how to do.

They would likely learn how to use crystal nuclei eventually, but cultivation techniques in any world were sacred. ’Did Xu Zeng know how to cultivate?’ This was a thought he hadn’t considered before.

His brother had some of their demon beast inheritance, but did that include a cultivation method? He should ask.

The warmth suffused every fiber of Xu Feng’s being as the energy cycle neared its completion. His lips, once tightly sealed, slowly parted as he exhaled the turbid breath that had gathered within him during his cultivation session.

With deliberate care, he unfurled his eyes, their gaze tracing the burgeoning life within the greenhouse.

It was a moment of tranquility, and as he surveyed the lush surroundings, Xu Feng contemplated aloud, "Maybe I should start cultivating in my own greenhouse." His mind wandered to the possibility of even coaxing the three wild animals in his home to engage in a similar practice.

Would the results be as striking for them as it had been for these plants?

Stretching his long, lean body, he dispelled the lingering strain from hours of seated meditation. His eyes flicked toward the digital display of his cell phone, which indicated that it was slightly past 3 in the afternoon.

Several hours had slipped by as he’d dove into cultivation, and in that span, the plants had matured as if weeks had passed in the blink of an eye.

Though the convenience of using a cell phone in this world felt strangely extraordinary, Xu Feng was aware that he would miss it only in passing when he eventually returned to Donghua. There, he had more precious treasures and beloved people awaiting his return.

However, before he could venture back from his original—or not quite—modern world, he felt an irresistible pull toward exploring the unknown expanse beyond the confines of this semi secure compound.

He might have considered himself a pampered young master or even aspired to be a relaxed salted fish, but the opportunity to experience the outside world with a safe escape plan was too tantalizing to resist.

He might have strayed far from his original identity, but beneath the layers of transformation and adaptation, he was, after all, still human. Or at least, he was something similar to one!
