Chapter 244: Returning to Nanshan
Xuan Jian’s embrace provided Xu Feng with a sense of security and warmth that he desperately needed at that moment. The gentle strokes of Xuan Jian’s fingers against his face were soothing, and Xu Feng couldn’t help but feel a deep sense of love and contentment. The future held so many possibilities, and he was grateful for the two incredible men who had come into his life.
The atmosphere in the carriage remained warm and loving, with Xu Feng resting in Xuan Jian’s embrace and Xuan Yang ensuring that they had everything they needed for their journey home.
The possibilities for their future together were endless, and they were ready to face whatever challenges and adventures lay ahead as a united family.
The journey home was peaceful, the carriage swaying gently as it moved along the road. The cool spring weather outside brought a refreshing breeze that seeped through the open windows, filling the carriage with a soothing atmosphere.
The sunlight filtered through the leaves of the trees, casting dappled patterns of light and shadow that danced on the interior.
Xu Feng, despite his best efforts to stay awake and engage in the conversation, found himself gradually succumbing to a growing fatigue. His body felt heavy, and his eyelids drooped as if weighted by invisible anchors. The change in temperature seemed to be more of an internal struggle, as he alternated between feeling hot and cold.
Xu Feng shifted slightly in Xuan Jian’s warm embrace, the cool breeze from the window gently brushing against his flushed cheeks.
His body temperature seemed to fluctuate unnaturally, and he couldn’t help but wonder about the conversation he’d had with his husbands earlier that morning. Their discussion about pregnancy and immortal bloodlines had left him with a burning curiosity.
"Immortal bloodlines..." he mumbled to no one in particular. Both Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang continued their private conversation in hushed voices, knowing Xu Feng wasn’t fully present.
But as Xu Feng continued to nod off, his mind slowly surrendered to the overpowering need for rest. His mumbling about immortal bloodlines and pregnancy became a soft, unintelligible murmur, lost in the warmth of the carriage and the comforting presence of his husbands.
Unbeknownst to Xu Feng, his head would occasionally rest against the cold, snake like arms of Xuan Yang, who ran cooler than most. It was a stark contrast to Xuan Jian’s fiery hot temperature, and the alternating sensations only added to Xu Feng’s sense of comfort and security as he drifted off into a peaceful slumber.

As the carriage rolled into the Nanshan estate, the late afternoon light bathed the entire scenery in a soft, golden glow. The estate appeared as it always did on the surface, a picturesque paradise nestled nearer to the foot of the Nanshan mountains. (Nearer to the foot than to a peak).
Yet, there was an undeniable change in the atmosphere, a warmth that seemed to emanate from every corner.
The well cared for grounds of Nanshan estate stretched out before them, a lush canvas of vibrant greens and blooming flowers. The spring season had brought forth a bountiful display of life, with both new and old animals inhabiting the rejuvenated space of the estate.
The scent of blooming flowers filled the air, and birds chirped happily, contributing to the harmony of the surroundings.
The estate still consisted of three meticulously tended courtyards: Budding Courtyard, Blooming Courtyard, and Flowering Courtyard. Each had its unique charm, but all shared the same air of tranquility and prosperity.
Really, nothing much had changed, but everything was different...
In Xu Feng’s Blooming Courtyard, the radiant greenhouse stood proudly, showcasing the care and attention it received. The structure overflowed with greenery, vibrant and full of life.
Inside, the shelves and planters were laden with exotic plants and herbs, showing Xu Feng’s love for horticulture and flora. In the cellar of the courtyard, rows of shelves were lined with some more recent purchases, some winter’s stocks, and the excess harvest lovingly gathered by Xu Hu Zhe and Xu Feng.
Beyond the courtyards, a few plots of land had been reclaimed by the diligent servants of the Nanshan estate. Small shoots of grains had already begun to make themselves known, promising a fruitful harvest to come.
The backdrop of the Nanshan mountains was breathtaking, their majestic peaks seemingly touched by the heavens. Even in the late afternoon, a slight haze hung in the air, adding to the ethereal beauty of the surroundings.
However, despite the splendor of their homecoming, there was an air of concern that enveloped Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang as they entered Xu Feng’s private quarters.
Xu Feng had slept away the afternoon, and this wasn’t the first time he had "fallen asleep" in the carriage and then stayed asleep once they reached home. The memory of the last incident, where he had slept far too long, lingered in their minds.
Now, they crowded around the feisty and pampered silver haired beauty in the large king sized bed, their expressions a mixture of love and worry.
The Nanshan estate might be a haven of beauty and serenity, but nothing could ease their concern for their pampered "young miss," who was asleep, nestled among the strange pillows and other additions Xu Si had made at Xu Feng’s request.
As Xu Feng slowly stirred from his slumber, he felt an unexpected warmth emanating from the inconspicuous ring on his finger. The sensation rousing him from his dreamless sleep, a usually welcome respite from the unsettling dreams that sometimes plagued his rest.
In those dreams, he found himself transported to a world he didn’t particularly like to revisit, even in his subconscious mind.
Dongmen.
In Dongmen, the zombie apocalypse raged on relentlessly. In his dreamscapes, he would often find himself battling hordes of the undead, scavenging for supplies, and navigating the perils of a world falling apart. It was like a never ending twilight zone, a surreal and nightmarish existence that haunted him.
Although Xu Feng had a strong suspicion that these dreams were nothing more than figments of his imagination, his guilt for the other version of himself, who might be trapped in his original world, compelled him to help whenever he found himself in that strange and perilous place.
Just like now.
Xu Feng opened his eyes, glanced at both Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang, reassuring them he was okay, before he fell into the call of the ring, and closed his eyes once again.
