Chapter 205: Xuan Ancestor

’This face... Xuan Yang???’ Xu Feng’s mind whirled at the connection. It was a shockwave that collided with the grumbling emptiness in his belly, a wild battle unfolding within him as hunger and shock wrestled for control.

The hunger won the battle, asserting its dominance.

Xu Feng turned to the ghostly figure and said, "This great cultivator is benevolent and kind, and..." The words faltered on his lips as he struggled to navigate this strange interaction with the spectral being.

"I’m hungry," he finally admitted, the rumbling growl of his stomach punctuating his shameless plea for food.

The noises was louder than the last set of grumbles. His face was tinted pink, but Xu Feng stared straight at the pale face without flinching.

’I am shameless.’

’I am shameless.’

’I am shameless.’ Xu Feng chanted the words over and over again like a good luck charm to ward away misfortune.

Sitting in the cave’s quiet embrace, Xu Feng’s cheeks were still brushed with a faint tint of pink, a residual effect of the unusual battle of wills with the Xuan Yang-like ghostly figure.

After the specter’s silent and somewhat judgmental stare off, followed by the undeniable rumbling of his hungry stomach, the ethereal being finally relented, conceding to Xu Feng’s request.

With an air of nonchalance, the ghostly figure, strikingly similar to his nominal husband, yet somehow distinct, departed, leaving Xu Feng alone in the quiet confines of the cave.

The awkward standoff had ended, and it seemed Xu Feng emerged victorious in this peculiar battle of wills.

Though the encounter was bizarre, the ghostly entity had granted Xu Feng his wish, disappearing to procure food without a word. For now, the cave enveloped him in silence once more, offering a chance for the blush on his cheeks to recede.

This curious victory, although odd and unexpected, provided a moment of relief, allowing him to gather his composure in the cave’s silence. He didn’t want to look like a complete idiot in front of his husband’s ancestor (?).

At least that’s who he thought the ghost should be. Why else would it be in the Nanshan mountains, so close to the Nanshan estate which was previously owned by the Xuan family.

The real question was, did someone from the Xuan family know about this ghost or maybe even this space?

Was this why Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang didn’t want him in the mountains???

Even if the above two men, his lovers, knew Xu Feng wouldn’t know how to feel about this discovery. Was it better for the men to be keeping such a big secret from him? It would make their reluctance make more sense.

As Xu Feng ruminated, the ghost reentered the room, but not with empty hands.

In the silent company of the spectral figure that shared an extraordinary resemblance to Xuan Yang, Xu Feng sat cross legged before a spread of exotic fruits and vegetables. One was even similar to a mango but distinctly different—a pink orange covering, with a green center—apart from this, the taste was sweeter and creamier.

Normally, he would be more cautious with food received from a stranger, but honestly, Xu Feng was starving, and his self control was nowhere in sight.

The succulent, unfamiliar fruit in his hand was a tantalizing blend of sweetness and tanginess, a culinary delight he had never tasted before.

The ethereal being maintained its mysterious stance, returning to its original position with an unreadable expression, as if it hadn’t orchestrated the appearance of the food at all.

To any outsider, it would seem as though the fruit and the bamboo cup filled with water had merely materialized out of thin air. Yet, in the midst of this mysterious and serene setting, the owner(?) of the cave stayed detached from Xu Feng’s feast.

Xu Feng, unfazed by the ghostly presence, focused on the simple pleasures before him. As he nibbled on the strange fruit, the flavors dancing across his palate, a contented hum escaped his lips, a soft melody of appreciation for the delicious, nourishing sustenance.

In the silence of the mystical space, the only audible sounds were the rustling of leaves and the gentle crunch of Xu Feng biting into the fruit, savoring each mouthful as if it were a rare delicacy.

The serene calm of the environment enveloped him, the ghostly figure watching with a noble air, its impassive expression betraying no hint of emotion.

Everything that touched Xu Feng’s palate seemed to be imbued with energy. It was likely this was the case with the Dragon Chrysanthemum tea he’d made for the residents of Nanshan estate, but after this period of time circulating his internal energy, he could feel ingested energy more vividly.

In addition, his abilities felt different, he was more aware of his core, and the movement of his wood abilities stemming from there.

The food was good, the energy in the cave was refreshing, but, Xu Feng’s mind couldn’t be still. It was more active than usual, there were many mysteries that seemed intertwined.

"This great cultivator is truly benevolent and kind," Xu Feng repeated again. The ghost didn’t seem to dislike the address the first time.

"Thank you, for this great cultivator’s guidance." He peeped at the impassive face in front of him before continuing, "This one didn’t know..."

’Be meticulous when circulating your energy in the future. The blessing of the third gender is a two edged sword and the womb must be nurtured at all times.’

The echo of the voice in Xu Feng’s head sent shivers down his spine again. It felt like a crankier and more refined Xuan Yang was whispering in his ears. Even their voices were similar.

Xu Feng squeezed his legs together, trying to calm himself down, unable to look the pale figure in the eyes any longer. This body was troublesome and had a special reaction to both Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang.

"You look like my husband." He peeped into the ghost’s face as if waiting for some sort of reaction. A reaction to give away Xuan Yang—maybe this was all a figment of his imagination, and he’d passed out during the ’running of the boars?’

The specter’s brows seemed to raise and he looked pointedly at Xu Feng’s belly once again, but the cave stayed silent.

"Xuan Yang?"
