Chapter 204: Can You Leave Now?
Xu Feng’s steady smile flickered ever so slightly as he remained rooted in place, unmoving despite the unsettling presence before him. Was it him or the spectral figure that was more calm? The answer remained elusive.
His deliberate actions concealed the internal turmoil churning within him. He closed his eyes with a composed ease, almost as if he were in the comfort of his own home, accustomed to such unusual encounters in this other dimension.
Yet, inside him, a different story unfolded, one filled with unease and questions. All the questions.
Internally, everything was not ok.
Not okay.
NOT OKAY.
The strange blend of worlds clashed in his mind.
This is an mpreg world. Cool.
This is a cultivation world. Cool.
Why do there have to be ghosts!!???
Backtracking cautiously, Xu Feng made minute adjustments and even smaller moves, inching ever so slowly, as though the ghostly figure might fail to notice his retreat if he proceeded cautiously enough.
Slowly.
Slowly.
One butt cheek at a time. Slowly.
"Gurrrgggle, Gurrrgggleee, Gurgle!"
His attempt at stealth was interrupted by an unexpected disturbance—a rumble in his stomach, a gut reminder of the hunger pangs that brought him out of his meditative state.
Xu Feng’s eyelids tightened painfully. He wasn’t sure if he was more embarrassed or hungry.
However, despite his rising uneasiness, he couldn’t dismiss the startling appearance of the otherworldly being.
It was a moment of realization, the light bulb going off—he’d been deeply absorbed in cultivating his energy, neglecting the unusual presence that had helped him. Probably.
’Wasn’t focus essential when cultivating?’ He was so focused on circulating his energy he hadn’t really analyzed how he had suddenly gone from forcefully circulating said energy, to following a predetermined pathway.
’What taught me that pathway?’ It wasn’t a miracle or because he was some sort of genius that he was able to circulate energy successfully in his first sitting. The pale, handsome, and somewhat familiar face that was in front of him was the cause.
Summoning courage from his reserves—the deep, deep reserves—Xu Feng resolved to confront the specter. His charm, a second skin, flickered into action as he prepared to engage with the mysterious figure, hoping for dialogue. At the very least, Xu Feng would settle for the specter not trying to possess his body.
His body which he now claimed after possessing it from the original owner...
This was clearly the pot calling the kettle black.
"Sigh," And the transformation began. From normal Xu Feng to the radiant young mistress!
As he cracked open his eyes, radiance emanated from his androgynous form, silvery hair framing a charming smile. His bright eyes and subtle dimples completed the picture of charisma that had been his trusted ally countless times since he found himself in Donghua.
But the ghostly form in front of him remained unruffled, its expression a mirror to its previous mystery. In the silence between them, its gaze seemed to reiterate the same cryptic message—"Can you leave now?"
In response to the ghostly figure’s silent plea, Xu Feng pondered, not physically retreating but inwardly assessing the situation. His serene exterior hid the storm within.
Still, the ghostly figure before him remained unmoved, the unsaid words hanging in the air, "Can you leave now?"
Correction: "You can leave now."
In that disorienting moment, caught between his desire to maintain a composed façade and the innate impulse to act his part, Xu Feng found himself in an strange deadlock. He struggled with the contradiction of being "the shameless one" yet striving for maturity—well, he couldn’t exactly gauge the specter’s age so he couldn’t be the adult here like he was with...
Well, he should be the adult with Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang, but that was never the case either. He should really just lean into his gift of shamelessness openly.
This being was a cultivator, an existence that typically spanned countless lifetimes by chasing immortality. Even so, he had been shameless for a full three months now, that should count for something.
Here they were, in an obscure pocket of the Nanshan mountains, hidden away by illusions, formations, and possibly restrictions. Maybe this was a former powerhouse of the cultivation world. It was clearly no ordinary spirit but a being with profound experience and knowledge.
Just as Xu Feng mustered the courage to respond, ready to break the silence, the ghostly figure made an unexpected move—extending a spectral hand and gently rubbing Xu Feng’s belly. A shiver raced down his spine, his composure cracking under the weight of bewilderment and surprise. The ghost held his gaze, the touch lingering as if conveying an unspoken message—’I can’t?’
Confusion surged within Xu Feng as his mouth fell open in sheer astonishment.
Was this ethereal figure being coy?
The inexplicable expression in the ghost’s eyes as they glanced down at his belly bore hints of something deeper, perhaps a mix of hurt and affection. It was an unexpected shift, leaving Xu Feng completely confused.
’Why is a ghost looking at my belly like that?’ He knew he was very soft to the touch (had gained some weight), but being softer in ancient times was a show of affluence, right?
This ghost shouldn’t really want to take over this body, right? If he knew, he would have eaten less and stayed malnourished to deter this opportunist.
Intrigued by the familiarity of the translucent face before him, Xu Feng was drawn closer as if magnetized, inching toward the ethereal figure with an inexplicable urge to decipher the vague features.
The ghostly countenance, initially a mysterious void, suddenly underwent a transformative shift right before his eyes as it showed its disdain for him. The formerly blank face morphed into an expression dripping with sass and a familiar judgment—unmistakably recognizable.
The ghost was taking him for a pervert! And the judgmental ghost eerily reminded him of another sassy person who previously...still occasionally looked at him like he was a pervert!
Recognition slammed into Xu Feng with the force of a typhoon. This was no random specter—it was someone he knew, someone he was familiar with. The shock reverberated within him, vying for dominance against the persistent pangs of hunger that gnawed at his stomach.
