Chapter 200: The Unknown

Chapter 200: The Unknown

As Xu Feng slowly opened his eyes once again, his mind was still clouded, an aftermath of the strange dreams(?) and the shock of suddenly being alone in an unfamiliar place.

The remnants of that odd dream trifecta lingered, adding to the disorientation as he blinked, trying to make sense of his surroundings. He sat up slowly as he took in the area devoid of any people or boars.

The space he found himself in was oddly comforting, despite the initial confusion. It felt alive, vibrating with a pulsating energy that seemed to seep through the air. The atmosphere was charged, humming with a strange otherworldly power that sent tingles down his spine.

First, he debated whether he should continue to play dead. But there really didn’t seem to be anyone around, or any wild boars chasing him.

Also, his body was just doing a natural thing...

Next, Xu Feng reached into his robes, and grabbed the traitorous ring hanging from the chain around his neck. It was cool to the touch, as if the whole heating up and trying to coerce him into following the "pull" he felt was only a matter of his imagination.

But Xu Feng felt no ill will, for whatever reason, he felt like wherever he was, this was a good place and a good thing. Plus, there were no boars chasing him.

With a curious glint in his eyes, he released the ring. What was he going to do? Yell at an inanimate object?

He began to explore the space around him, taking in the sights of this peculiar area. There were trees in the distance, but the ancient forest he came from, or passed through, was nowhere in sight.

The area was largely made up of a large clearing or field that sat in front of a mountain. There was a garden area, and further in the distance, there was obviously a cave, built into the mountain—it looked meticulously planned and well kept.

Slightly further back to the right, there was a body of water, and to the left, there were a few trees that seemed to be carefully planted.

The colors were vivid, the hues almost otherworldly, casting a surreal glow across the landscape. The terrain was expansive, stretching far beyond his line of sight, yet it felt contained, as if encapsulated within a bubble of its own existence.

Strange plants, unfamiliar to him, blossomed in vibrant shades of indigo and crimson, their leaves shimmering with a subtle luminescence. As he stood up, the ground beneath his feet felt different—soft yet resilient, like walking on clouds that held their ground.

Xu Feng moved his foot back and forth as if to test the ground further. The feeling was strange, but fun? When would he ever get the chance to walk on clouds again? (If he wasn’t already dead).

As he gazed around, he realized the air itself seemed charged with an underlying power, a sensation he couldn’t quite describe. It was as if every breath he took was infused with hidden energy, leaving him feeling invigorated, although slightly confused.

There were no visible boundaries, no obvious markers of where this mysterious space began or ended. It was as though he was suspended in an endless canvas, the horizon fading into a distant, ethereal haze.

Despite the initial daze, there was a growing excitement building within him. The magnetism of this unknown area, pulsating with inexplicable energies, fascinated him. He felt an urge to dive deeper, to unravel the secrets hidden within this little garden(?) he’d found.

Xu Feng’s eyes sparkled with a newfound curiosity as he continued to survey the vast expanse before him.

As Xu Feng cautiously made his way from the spot where he’d woken up towards the gardens, his steps careful and measured, he couldn’t help but be captivated by the enchanting landscape around him.

The garden was a wild mixture of overgrown weeds and vibrant, otherworldly flowers, a sight that dazzled his senses and called to everything within him.

The flowers that adorned the edges of the garden were familiar to him, yet they seemed out of place in this unfamiliar setting. Among them were the Dragon Chrysanthemums, their petals boasting a rainbow of colors, interspersed with a few unruly weeds.

These flowers were treasured and highly sought after in the current Donghua, his cultivated version of the Dragon Chrysanthemum was supposed to be an anomaly. They shouldn’t be able to be cultivated without his wood abilities...or at least the locals weren’t able to cultivate them successfully.

Yet here, in this peculiar space within the forest, they appeared almost insignificant, relegated to the outskirts of the garden as if overshadowed by the other plants in this garden.

And it was a garden. A little overgrown, but someone had once tended to these plots with care. He could feel it.

It was a curious discovery for Xu Feng, observing how the plants held different values in this mysterious space.

But what intrigued him even more was the revelation that his own abilities seemed unrestrained within this domain. As he observed the flowers, he sensed a connection with them that transcended the need for physical touch.

It was as if he could "feel" the plants without even laying a finger on them, an ability that felt oddly natural and unhindered. Previously, this sensation was never so strong or unrestrained. He could use his abilities, but he wouldn’t be able to "feel" the flora his abilities touched.

The quality of the Dragon Chrysanthemum buds here, even those at the lowest tier, matched the potency of the finest blooms he cultivated back in his personal greenhouse. This realization left him momentarily taken aback. How did he know this? Why did he possess such innate knowledge?

He had realized the wild Dragon Chrysanthemums Xuan Jian brought him before were different, because of their more withered and less vibrant state than the ones growing in his greenhouse, but this time, it wasn’t based on physical attributes, or the effects after ingesting.

He just knew. He knew deep down.

Xu Feng paused, his mind spinning with questions. Yet, the sensation of being attuned to the plants, the very essence of this peculiar garden, was too fascinating to ignore. He felt compelled to explore further, to understand the depths of this inexplicable connection that seemed to reside within him.

With a mix of intrigue and caution, he continued his journey deeper into the captivating garden.
