Chapter 181: A Naughty Fox

Looking at the top of the greenhouse from ground level made Xu Feng’s heart hurt as it squeezed in pain. This is another expense he’ll have to take into account. For now, the income of the household was a main concern.

It was spring time, after an entire winter of good eating for a household of 22. There were 8 new servants added to the estate in the winter that remained from the initial 11. Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang brought four servants with them. There was Xu Feng, Xu Si, Xu San, and Xu Hu Zhe—the last three had recently had their last names changed officially (in the last week).

Xu Feng wasn’t allowed to go into Yilin town according to the agreement he made with Xuan Yang after the man cleaned up his stripping scandal with unknown means. Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang were the ones to go into town to get the servants’ surnames added.

After Xu Feng’s recent change of heart and clarity in his emotions, he was acting on his promise to himself. Both his lovers would be cherished for as long as he had them AND he would still try to be as independent as possible AND he would try not to hold a grudge, he was allowed to be petty occasionally.

He was only human though, and he would try not to ignore his feelings.

In addition to changing the three servants’ names, the slavery contract/deed of sale for the three would be changed. Xu Feng trusted Si, San, and Hu Zhe. Xuan Yang and Xuan Jian were his lovers, and the three were like his family in this world.

Xu Si, Xu San, and Xu Hu Zhe were also added to Xu Feng’s household register as relatives. They weren’t direct kin, but they were truly family now. The three servants didn’t realize the extent of their identity change yet.

He would take his time to share this news with them. It was a delicate subject that should be dealt with after his divorce and the end of the contract.

It was a big change that Xu Feng had to argue with both Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang, before they begrudgingly agreed to do Xu Feng’s dirty work.

He wasn’t allowed to go into Yilin town, and that was the official town his household had been registered to after Lady Xuan gave it to him. His "hometown" was far away, but this was now his stomping ground...sort of...

Xu Feng grinned to himself, expertly ignoring the man behind him.

It wasn’t as if he wanted to deal with the bureaucrats in town anyway, instead he was more than willing to give his husbands some silver to bribe those in charge. He was a modern man, but even in the twenty first century, civil servants were bribed. He wasn’t innocent enough to ignore this.

Plus, if Xuan Yang was able to make a scandal go away in a single day, changing a ger’s household registration was a simple enough task.

With the three newly minted Xus now in his family, Xu Feng felt more confident. It was strange, but he felt like he was less alone. Even if he lost both Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang one day, he still had family. It wouldn’t stop the pain of loss, but it was something.

Although it wasn’t his plan to lose his husbands, it was his intention to cherish them as their relationship played out. As for the baby...wait till there was a baby...

With a household of 22, the food reserves had dwindled over the last 3 months. It had been over a week after the end of the Xuicai exam when Xu Feng decided to go to Xiyin town. He had waited diligently for Bai Mo’s visit, but he wouldn’t rush the other man, it was probably nerve wracking deciding to go back to the estranged main families of his father and dad.

The trip was farther than Beiyin town, the artisan town, but the terrain was easier to travel. It was a quick and easy trip made with Xu Si, Xu San, and Xu Hu Zhe in tow. They had left both Xuan’s at home for the trip.

They purchased a bit more food, and Xu Feng was able to window shop with the old gang and get out of the estate. The main purpose was to get Xu San used to shopping and handling silver.

The next day (today) the same group, minus Xu Feng went to Yilin town to purchase bigger items and items that wouldn’t travel well over long distances such as chicks, piglets, and more. The list wasn’t too long, but Xu Feng wasn’t expecting them back until well after lunch time.

This was a good time for the three children to, well, act like children. They were even threatened thoroughly by Xu Feng to make sure they ate well while outside.

Despite the impending money crisis of Nanshan estate, Xu Feng was excited about the adventure the three children were probably having. He couldn’t help but whistle even in the face of more expenses.

The pep in his step couldn’t be hidden at all. He was basically dancing at this point as he moved away from the greenhouse.

Xu Feng swayed his hips from side to side.

Since he had that conversation with Xuan Yang over a week ago, his heavy heart had finally been put down. There were many uncertainties, but what changed was the way he would move through the periods of uncertainty.

Xu Feng was more relaxed. He still had his barriers and he would still be stubborn, but he wouldn’t let unsaid words or actions that hadn’t happened yet dampen his mood.

He had gone through his second appointment with Doctor Ping smoothly, without any attitude or anything of the like. Even his next bed session with Xuan Jian went VERY enjoyably smooth.

He wasn’t pregnant. He was acting normally, all was well.

Yet, he was still monitored by a certain pair of snakes. Jian was watching him now, but he couldn’t be bothered.

Xu Feng could tell it wasn’t from a place of malice. They were probably worried about his well being. If it was to keep him from going up the mountain, he was sorry for their wasted efforts.

He would go up the mountain, but he wanted to see Bai Mo first. After they met, Xu Feng and Xu Hu Zhe would find a time to put their preparations in motion.

As Xu Feng moved his hips, a rough hand wrapped around his waist tightly, and a gruff voice resounded in his ears, "naughty fox."

Xu Feng’s eyes slanted, as his body began to react to the hard object pressed against his back, "hmm...horny dog."

"Dog?" As Xuan Jian’s voice lightened with laughter audible, the call of a servant came, "Visitor for Master Feng."
