Xu Feng savored the flavor of the Dharma Goat meat cooked by Xuan Jian and Xuan Yang. It was an unusual delicacy; one he hadn’t encountered in the Yilin markets during his rare handful of visits with Erlang. The absence of it in town indicated that it was most likely game hunted by Xuan Jian.

That was why he assumed the two men had made such a huge mess in his kitchen. Xuan Jian hunted the animal, and they wanted to prepare the game themselves to celebrate the Xuicai exam being successfully...successfully what?

Honestly, there wasn’t a major cause for celebration. Yet, the attention and recognition were what mattered to Xu Feng. He hadn’t placed all his ambitions on becoming a scholar, but he had devoted himself diligently to studying for the exam.

He poured hours into absorbing everything about Donghua and Dongzhou, drawing from the knowledge of his predecessor, Xu Zeng, and his dad. Xu Feng was content that someone acknowledged his efforts in navigating this new world, despite his other moments of laziness.

Xu Feng’s gaze on the ’Dharma Goat’ became more and more tired as he listened to the explanation from Xuan Jian about the benefits of the animal, the uses of the different parts of the goat, and the reasons why it had such a fragrant smell.

"...Hard to come by, good for nursing mothers and nourishing immortal bloodline children. Only those in Jinghua can afford to buy its meat but it depends on if the Dharma Goat can even be found. Often, they are sold at auctions for the largest and most wealthy families. They’ll preserve the left over meat as best as possible to nourish a woman or ger for the entire pregnancy."

"Lady Xuan was able to buy a small portion of Dharma Goat when she was pregnant with me. The story is often told in the women’s circles in Jinghua," Xuan Yang added proudly to Xuan Jian’s endless list of benefits.

Xu Feng wanted to be annoyed but it was delicious. It was a treat he did enjoy. He almost hoped he was pregnant, so the men’s troubles wouldn’t go to waste.

"If I’m not pregnant?" He asked wearily, but both men were once again too excited about a child, to notice the detachment in Xu Feng’s eyes as he watched the large piece of roast meat.

Even after eating full and round, there was still so much meat left. The animal really was a behemoth.

Xuan Yang flushed at the question, looking over at the Dharma Goat with joy in his eyes. "It helps with conception. Conception of exceptional children."

Xu Feng nods crispy. He was having a lot of out of body experiences lately. He almost wished the original owner would take the body back.

He wasn’t sure if he wanted to go back to his original body though. An apocalypse was a lot of work, and he wasn’t in the mental state to deal with constantly being on alert. He wandered where his adoptive parents were, with his grandma maybe? Would he get to join them as an outsider?

Spitefully, a smile dawns on his face, one that make Xuan Yang, who finally looked Xu Feng in the eyes a bit more weary. He has a good understanding of the ger in front of him. He was still an anomaly but a strangely familiar one.

Without any preamble, Xu Feng unloaded. "I stripped at the Xuicai exam today while in disguise." He paused for a moment, his smile growing bigger and more cheerful, "You should deal with it, so it won’t sully your child’s good name."

With that Xu Feng calmly picked up a bowl of meat, and headed into the crisp cold night, ignoring the two men calling after him.

"Don’t follow me. I’ll see a doctor tomorrow. You are paying for the house call." With three short sentences, and a middle finger that was foreign to the two men surnamed Xuan, but liberating to a certain Xu, Xu Feng felt a little better.

Fuck them, and fuck him too.

He might as well eat more. When he could stomach it, he would really put his all into getting pregnant. Once every two weeks wasn’t what was agreed on in the contract, healing or not, he was going to get to laying a golden egg if it killed him.

He didn’t have this blood red mole and an ass that could take Xuan Yang’s little, not so little, snake for no reason.

He was sleeping with two men regularly, he would make it more regularly. One of them should get him pregnant soon enough. With that, Xu Feng popped another piece of Dharma goat into his mouth for good measure.

The next morning Xu Feng lay in bed. Calm and well rested. He healed himself until his powers were drained and he was shivering with withdrawal like symptoms the night before, then he slept like the dead. His body was really tired. He was exhausted.

He was also hurt, and angry. There were a lot of emotions and all of them were dumb.

He wanted to hurry up with this divorce. Baby.

Xu Feng needed to have a baby first. That was his way out.

In the meantime, he would go up the mountain and gather a few more seeds. Bai Mo would get fox inheritance and training materials for the both of them, and maybe he would start cultivating. Many new adventures were calling his name.

There was more to his life than being fucked and having babies.

This was for the best.
