The Ger's Contract Marriage [BL]
Chapter 143: Tea Time

Chapter 143: Tea Time

The exit from the government building courtyard was orderly and without too much fanfare for Xu Feng and Bai Mo. Most of the gers were still too shocked or drained to pay them any mind. Too much had happened in the last hour and a half of the exam.

He had left his placard to identify his work, and in around a month’s time, Xu Feng and all the other participants would know if they had gained a new title or if they would need to work hard in the coming year.

At this point, Xu Feng didn’t care too much about the results. His brain was tired, and so were his emotions.

Xu Feng got into Bai Mo’s carriage as he had done the day before, and headed toward the Bai Mansion. He only nodded along and occasionally made approval sounds for Bai Mo’s sake during their journey from the government building to the Bai Mansion.

As soon as they made it to the pavilion nearest to Bai Mo’s quarters, Xu Feng went from autopilot to resting mode. The pavilion was a place the two often spent time after spring rolled around.

Xu Feng lay sprawled on the cushions laid out on the gazebo floors by Bai Mo’s servants as the scent of tea wafted around him. He stared up into the enclosed roof of the structure with unfocused eyes. The cushions were specially placed for him, and he wasn’t shy about utilizing them to their full functionality.

The weather was still beautiful and crisp even as afternoon had rolled around.

Xu Feng was trapped in the courtyard for the Xuicai exam from around 6am till 2pm for two days in a row. His bottom was sore from all that sitting on a hard wooden bench, but he wouldn’t complain.

He’d learned his lesson the hard way.

Instead, he would enjoy the cushions Bai Mo had laid out for him so thoughtfully. It was because of said complaints that a certain snake offered to give him a massage. And it was because of said massage that led to the ruined state of his chest.

Xu Feng wanted to be upset at Xuan Yang, the culprit, and Xuan Jian, the accomplice, but honestly, the love bites weren’t the problem. Well, they weren’t what ruffled Xu Feng’s feathers.

Sun Ming Hua was the problem, but it was a problem Xu Feng wanted out of sight and out of mind. He was barely able to focus as Bai Mo complained.

"I still can’t believe Sun Ming Hua would make such an accusation with no proof! He has always been willful, but a scholar’s exam is not the place to be willful. I’m sure Sun Ming will hear about this. I hope he teaches his brother well this time."

Bai Mo was fully consumed by what happened in the courtyard. He was more enraged by the whole situation, and couldn’t help but to complain.

While Bai Mo did enjoy a little gossip every now and again, this was different, it was like Sun Ming Hua had made a personal attack on his character.

"I understand he doesn’t like me, I’m a jinx, but.."

It was when Bai Mo came to this point, that Xu Feng snapped out of his daze. " Don’t say that about yourself."

"But..."

"Don’t say that about yourself, Bai Mo."

Both boys stared at each other before Bai Mo rolled his eyes and sighed. At first, they were acquaintances with walls between them, but over the winter, they spent a as much time as the weather would allow together.

The once reserved ger, was now learning a lot of bad things from Xu Feng. Xu Feng smiled as the cutie in front of him finally nodded his head.

"You aren’t a jinx, and you know that isn’t why Sun Ming Hua doesn’t like you," Xu Feng began to relax back into his cushions after adjusting his robes, "you were engaged to his crush and he can’t accept that."

Bai Mo’s face reddened as the topic was brought up again. This wasn’t the first time the two men had talked about his betrothal to Kang Han.

Xu Feng didn’t give the other boy a chance before continuing with his teasing, "Instead of calling yourself a jinx, you should spend some time feeling bad for me. I’m just a poor little village ger, being picked on by second young master Sun because of your messy breakup and seductive charms."

"Se-se-se-se..." After a few tries, the red faced Bai Mo gave up on repeating Xu Feng’s teasing words and simply took a sip of his tea.

Bai Mo was older than Xu Feng by two years, but because of his dad’s death, and then his father’s death, he had reached the ripe old age of 19 years old without any marriage prospects.

Before his father’s death, Bai Mo was still engaged to Kang Han of the third rate Kang family, but with Bai Mo’s orphan status, the Kangs had mercilessly broken off the engagement.

Up until the engagement was broken, Bai Mo had shared with Xu Feng how close his and Kang Han’s relationship had been. But with the death of his parents Kang Han began to treat Bai Mo like a pariah.

Most of the teasing Bai Mo received from the students from his school in town, and his other peers were instigated by Kang Han. When life turned hard for Bai Mo, Kang Han had made life even more miserable for him.

Xu Feng couldn’t understand why any woman or ger would want anything to do with Kang Han. He was attractive, from a good family, and was the oldest son, BUT, the speed at which he began bullying his 10 year long fiancée, was alarming.

If the man could treat Bai Mo so badly, what did his suitors expect him to do to them when life threw them any curve balls. He was probably the type to have 101 concubines, and never look at a concubine or wife after they had a child.

He just screamed evil to Xu Feng. Plus he tried to hit on a married ger in broad daylight.

And the evil man, Kang Han, was the reason Sun Ming Hua held a grudge against Bai Mo, and now him.

It made no sense. None.
