The First Demon of the Chan Sect -
Chapter 467 - 10 Human Clan Catastrophe, Deluge
Chapter 467: Chapter 10 Human Clan Catastrophe, Deluge
The Demon Race obtained Nuwa’s consent, and with the addition of Flying Snake, the subsequent events naturally followed course.
Several days later, the River Suppressing Dragon Kings of the Yellow River, Huai River, Wei River, and other long inland rivers all disappeared without explanation.
Across the vast Huaxia Land, except for the coastal areas, the rest of the regions did not receive a drop of rain within a year, and all the Huaxia Clan suffered greatly from the severe drought.
In that year, crops failed completely, and countless Human Clan perished. People from various places extensively arranged sacrificial offerings, worshipping the Dragon Kings and praying to the deities of the Heavenly Court, but to no avail.
However, in the second year, the water levels of the Yellow River and other few long inland rivers suddenly surged, breaking through dikes and attacking surrounding Human Clan settlements like fierce beasts.
Along with it came overwhelming torrents of rain. Unknown when, a huge gap had appeared in the Heavenly Vault, followed by a second, third, and fourth, from which the waters of the long rivers poured down like cascading waterfalls, making a thunderous sound.
The water from the long rivers poured down frenziedly, showing no sign of stopping. This immense flow of water could only be compared to the collapse of Mount Buzhou in the history of Huaxia.
Where the flood passed, the land was a vast ocean, fields were submerged, city walls were breached, and houses turned to ruins.
In this moment, there was silence between heaven and earth, except for the roaring sound of the floodwaters, no other noise could be heard.
Torrential rains enveloped the Four Great Continents, and the towering floods traversed the Huaxia Nine Provinces. Among them, the most severely affected were the provinces of Xu, Yang, Jing, You, and Yong.
All forces across Huaxia Land adopted a wait-and-see attitude, and no one dared to intervene rashly.
Only heaven knows if this is a trap, a trap that could annihilate many people.
Pingyu Jia Yitian, Palace of the Polestar.
Hao Tian, clad in a bright yellow Dragon Robe, sat upright on the Dragon Throne, staring intently at the Four Sea Dragon Kings standing below the steps, and said: "Fellow Daoists, what benefits has Taiyi offered you that made you, the Water Control Heavenly Gods, indifferent?"
Aoguang grinned and said, "Your Majesty, he gave us no benefits at all!"
Hao Tian frowned and said, "Oh? It seems that the River Suppressing Dragon Kings like those of Yellow River and Wei River weren’t detained by the Heavenly Court, they must have been recalled by your clans. This really puzzles me!"
"Hehe, Your Majesty! With your capabilities, can’t you figure out that this is a test from the Heavenly Dao for the Human Clan?" Ao Run rubbed his hands and chuckled at Hao Tian: "That, as you know. Apart from making it rain, our Dragon Clan dare not meddle in Human Clan affairs!"
"That’s not it, you don’t have the courage!" Hao Tian was stunned, a glint flashed in his eyes, and he said: "Could it be Brother Qingming..."
Aoguang shook his head nonchalantly, saying: "Your Majesty, be cautious with your words, we heard nothing!"
"Oh? Haha, right! I said nothing!" Hao Tian, also a wise man, initially planned to dispatch some Heavenly Soldiers and Generals, but since Brother Qingming had intervened, it was best to refrain from involvement to avoid disrupting Qingmingzi’s plan.
Jizhou Capital, the Great Council Chamber.
Di Shun sat on the throne, frowning and saying: "Now the floods are raging across our Huaxia Land, and the people are suffering immensely. As far as I know, such a great flood has never occurred in the history of our Human Clan. What do my ministers think?"
All the ministers remained silent, and the chamber fell into a hushed silence.
Emperor Shun felt rather helpless at this scene. This wasn’t the first or second time, it wasn’t reasonable to force them to come up with solutions.
"Sigh!" Feeling helpless, he sighed, and just when he was about to wave his sleeve to dismiss the court, suddenly he heard a clear and melodious Zen chant from outside the hall:
"Swear to dedicate merit, glorify the Buddha’s pure land. Repaying the four heavy graces, alleviating suffering in the three paths of misery. Should any hear and see this, may they generate a Bodhi mind. Devoting this mortal life, to be reborn in the land of utmost bliss."
Hearing these words, Emperor Shun was greatly shocked, and hurried to the outside of the grand hall, where he saw a one-armed monk walking slowly from afar.
This monk was very short, less than six feet, and extremely thin, skin and bones to the point where his face was covered in layers of wrinkles, his dry, yellow, skeletal arms barely covered with flesh, devoid of any fat.
His head was completely bald, unlike other Buddhas who have many curls, smooth and tight. The golden robe draped on him was quite worn out, only covering half of his body, revealing his skinny frame like dried wood.
Emperor Shun did not dare to be careless, and quickly stepped forward to ask, "May I ask where the Holy Monk comes from?"
With a sorrowful face breaking into a warm, pure smile, the monk said, "Amitabha Buddha! I come from the Great Leiyin Temple at Mount Sumeru."
Emperor Shun was utterly astounded and quickly bowed deeply, saying, "Human Clan’s Shun, pays respects to the Jieyin Saint, may the Saint’s holy life be boundless!"
The Jieyin Saint extended his only remaining arm to support Emperor Shun, saying, "Sovereign, there is no need for such grand formalities!"
"Has the Saint come here for this issue of the flood?" Emperor Shun asked, his heart filled with joy, gazing earnestly at Jieyin.
Jieyin nodded and then shook his head.
Emperor Shun, greatly astonished, asked, "What does the Saint mean by this?"
Jieyin chuckled lightly, twirling his fingers, "This poor monk came here because the Sovereign and I have a mentor-disciple destiny. As for flood control, haha! I heard that a descendant of Emperor Xuan Yuan, named Gun, is quite talented. After many years studying the water veins of Huaxia, he surely has a way to tame the water and ought to be able to quell this flood!"
"Is that really true?" said Emperor Shun, himself a highly capable person who, despite envying immortals flying amidst clouds, knew that managing the flood was the pressing priority.
"Indeed!" Jieyin was unaware that Emperor Shun was preoccupied with flood control and thought he was asking about whether he was truly willing to take him as a disciple.
Assured by Jieyin’s affirmative reply, Emperor Shun turned and ran, shouting, "Quickly go to the banks of Jishui River to find Emperor Xuan Yuan’s descendant, Gun, and order him to rush to the flood-afflicted areas to manage the water disaster!"
Watching this scene, Jieyin almost choked with frustration. Here he was, playing the wise and deep role, waiting in hard effort for Emperor Shun to ask to become his disciple. Yet Emperor Shun ran back into the debating hall to discuss managing the floods.
With a wry smile, Jieyin shook his head and followed him into the hall.
Since Emperor Shun’s order was given, the entire Human Clan began to mobilize with the sole goal of finding Gun.
Speaking of Gun, he too was a character of sorrow. His father was the first Sovereign among the Five Emperors, Zhuanxu. Gun suffered due to the matters of Zhuanxu, enduring disdain from his clansmen, and nearly being expelled by the Ji Clan.
Later, Gun was fortunate enough to receive aid from a Divine Being, learning many skills, thereby gradually making a name for himself within the clan, and eventually taking up the position of the Ji Clan Leader.
Recently, when the heavy rain fell and the floods surged, Gun, who cared deeply for the Huaxia Clan, handled the affairs of his clan and then went to the severely affected area of Xuzhou to meticulously survey and devise a plan for flood management.(To be continued.
