Chapter 345 - 33 Red Silk
Chapter 345: Chapter 33 Red Silk
The boundless and cliff-less East Sea lay beneath a cloudless sky.
Upon the unruffled blue waves, a lady clad in a light pink skirt progressed, her bright eyes and white teeth sparkling, her neck graceful as a lotus rising out of the water, an unparalleled beauty. She was Red Silk, on a mission from Emperor Fuxi to collect the Innate Jianmu in the East Sea.
"How am I to find this Innate Jianmu in such vast southwestern waters of the East Sea?" Red Silk frowned slightly as her thoughts surged like tides while she soared above the East Sea.
"Boom!"
Suddenly, a heaven-shaking boom erupted ahead; the sea boiled furiously, and a bluish-green, fish-tailed brute—ugly and a zhang tall—appeared with an entourage of Shrimp Soldiers and Crab Generals, blocking Red Silk’s path.
"Lady, what business do you have within the bounds of our East Sea?" The brute leered at Red Silk’s voluptuous figure, voicing loudly.
Red Silk frowned slightly. As a practitioner at the pinnacle of the Taiyin Golden Immortal realm, she wanted to just wave her sleeve and obliterate this shameless lecher. But recalling that the East Sea belonged to the Dragon Clan, she forcefully suppressed her indignation and said, "I am here in the East Sea for important matters! I implore you, Fellow Daoist, do not block my way and let me pass!"
"Hahaha, tell us, lady, where do you wish to go? Maybe your brother here can give you some advice," the brute laughed heartily while casually lifting his hand. The Shrimp Soldiers and Crab Generals behind him took the cue and surrounded Red Silk in a tight circle.
Red Silk’s eyebrows knitted tightly as she asked, "Fellow Daoist, do you think this is appropriate?"
"What do you mean?" the brute laughed uproariously, "You pretentious little minx, these waters are the domain of our lord, His Majesty Aoguang. I, this Yaksha, suspect you’re a spy from another race. You better come with me to the Dragon Palace!"
The brute was Ao Bing, the Third Prince of the East Sea Dragon Clan, a Yaksha under his command named Qing San, notorious for his lust for life and habit of harassing the mermaids among the Water Clan. Fearing Qing San’s master, the Water Clan dared not speak out against him.
Today, as he was in his lair planning to toy with a newly captured beautiful girl, he abruptly received word of an extremely beautiful woman appearing on the East Sea Coast. Qing San, starved for fleshly desires, hastily locked the girl in his lair and hurried to the shore to find the source of the commotion.
Upon seeing Red Silk, he was immediately captivated by her beauty and followed her to the southwestern realm of the East Sea, hence the scene before.
With a tranquil demeanor and calmly, Red Silk informed, "I am a disciple of the Human Emperor; I advise you to carefully reconsider your actions!"
"Human Emperor? What’s that? Hahaha, seize her!" Qing San, barely even a match for a Heavenly Immortal, had no knowledge of who the Human Emperor was, and probably hadn’t even heard of Emperor Fuxi.
Disrespect towards herself was tolerable, but an insult to her master was unforgivable! Red Silk clenched her teeth angrily, glaring at Qing San, and declared, "You’ve asked for this yourself, don’t blame me!"
With that, Red Silk’s dress danced in the wind, engulfed by the immense Taiqing Power, and a tremendous moon appeared behind her, illuminating her entire being.
Instantly, the space for hundreds of li around turned to night. The clear Divine Moon rose, framing her like a sacred Banished Immortal.
Qing San and the Water Clansmen were stunned, having never beheld such beauty and temperament combined. His heart suddenly overflowed with an insatiable desire.
"Hum!"
Red Silk sat cross-legged in the void; before her, a Yaoqin spontaneously manifested, radiating sparkling divine light. Her delicate hands lightly touched it, releasing beams of Divine Light, and played the strings. The sound of the yaoqin was like a spring stream in a quiet valley, resounding in a blissful melody through the space for dozens of li around.
Accompanying the music was the endless milky white Taiching True Essence.
The halo of white light grew more intense, the Spiritual Energy in the air seemed to oscillate with the melody, turning the cheerful and bright music into a veiled threat.
For Red Silk, who had inherited Fuxi’s mastery of music, these lowly Little Demons were doomed to destruction the moment she began to play.
"Hum!"
As Red Silk hit the final note, the whole yaoqin let out a melodic sound, like soft thunder.
Looking around, Qing San and his Shrimp Soldiers and Crab Generals stood dumbfounded above the water, their faces a mixture of confusion and delight. After a while, they simultaneously sank to the sea floor.
A flash of silver light, and the twinkling yaoqin was tucked away. Red Silk smoothed her skirt and gracefully rose to her feet, murmuring, "This was the fate you brought upon yourselves; it is not my fault! When you descend to the Underworld, remember to tell King Yan that in your next life, you should be reborn as a human; your appearance is just too hideous!"
Perhaps if Qing San had heard Red Silk’s words, he might have come back to life out of sheer anger. But he was already dead—why be so spiteful?
"Sigh, after all, I forgot to ask about the affairs of Jianmu, I shall continue my search patiently!" Red Silk sighed softly, stepping across the waves once more.
A thousand li away from where Red Silk was, in Penglai, Li Qingming sat in the pavilion at the center of the Lotus Pond, laughing heartily.
"Qingming, what amuses you so?" Still in a white dress, graceful as jade, Wang Shu approached with a tray of various pastries in hand, gliding across the long bridge.
Li Qingming turned to glance at the beauty and spoke, "The little disciple of Fuxi has started a slaughter as soon as she arrived in the East Sea! Not only did she slay the members of the Water Clan, but she even sank their corpses to the seabed without erasing the ripples of their mana. Isn’t this an open invitation for that old fellow Aoguang to seek revenge?"
Wang Shu shook her head helplessly, her cherry lips slightly upturned as she spoke, "Indeed, the naivety of a young girl fresh to the world! So, you’re not planning to save an old friend’s disciple?"
Li Qingming smiled faintly and replied, "Each has their own fate and law, this young girl has an excellent destiny, and moreover, she and Xiao Er are predestined by heaven, no need for my rescue!"
Wang Shu smiled tenderly, no longer speaking.
...
Underneath the East Sea, in the Crystal Palace.
"Father, although Qing San is lustful as life itself, he was an subordinate of our Dragon Palace of the East Sea. His unprovoked slaying, if unavenged, will surely bring ridicule from all beings upon the Huaxia Land," bellowed Dragon Third Prince Ao Bing, his face filled with rage, pointing at the corpse of Qing San.
"Shut your mouth!" Enraged by the son he had sired a millennium ago, Aoguang went up to him and slapped him across the face. He spoke with resentment, "You call this Qing San your subordinate. But all these years, have you ever inquired into the filth he’s been up to? For your sake, I’ve indulged him over and over, yet he refuses to change. Now, dead and gone, at least he’s quiet!"
"Hmph! If Father refuses to intervene, then I shall act on my own! I must secure justice for myself and for the Dragon Palace of the East Sea!" With a cold huff, Ao Bing turned and left the hall.
"Father, why wouldn’t you dissuade Third Brother?" Hidden all along behind the folding screen, Ao Yu, upon seeing Ao Bing storm out indignantly, couldn’t help but express his concern.
"Ah," Aoguang sighed deeply, "Yu’er, it’s not that I won’t persuade Ao Bing; it’s that I can’t! Surely you too can sense that thick Taiqing Immortal Energy. Across the vast world, other than those two of East Kunlun Mountain and Emperor Fuxi, who else could wield the Taiqing Immortal Energy? We cannot afford to provoke them!"
Ao Yu’s countenance froze as he said, "Father, aren’t you pushing Third Brother into a pit of fire?"
Aoguang smiled bitterly, lifted his hand pointing in the direction of Penglai, and said, "It’s not that I wish to forsake Ao Bing; it’s that ’he’ wants Ao Bing to be tempered!"
Upon hearing this, Ao Yu suddenly gasped and spoke with a mix of surprise and excitement, "Father, this is a good thing! Perhaps Third Brother could gain favor from ’him’ and become a disciple. Our East Sea Dragon Clan’s flourishing future is right before our eyes!"
Hearing this, Aoguang turned around, gazing into the boundless sea domain, falling into silence.
In the Crystal Hall, a hush fell upon the space.
Dragon Third Prince Ao Bing, as he moved forth tracking the Taiqing Energy, after several hundred li, finally encountered the murderer Red Silk upon a sunken plain. His initial shock at her unparalleled beauty was soon supplanted by fury.
At this moment, Red Silk continued to wander leisurely above the East Sea, oblivious to the looming danger. Her graceful figure gliding over the water, she was indeed a delightful sight.
Anger brewed within Ao Bing as he slapped the sea furiously, causing waves to rise on the surface of the East Sea, as his thundering voice demanded, "Hey, I ask you, was it you who killed my subordinate Qing San?"
Perceiving his dragon horn and the bright yellow dragon robe, Red Silk recognized he must be a member of the Dragon Clan. Stopping, she spoke, "Fellow Daoist greets you kindly! That unsightly man attempted to molest me repeatedly, and later even made false charges to forcibly take me! Out of desperation, I had to act. Please, Fellow Daoist, do not blame me!"
Ao Bing, face flushed with embarrassment, knew the truth in Red Silk’s words; yet still obstinately retorted, "Although Qing San was first in the wrong, after all, he was a subordinate of our East Sea Dragon Palace. Your actions seemed a bit excessive!"
"Excessive?" Red Silk, taken aback by the allegation, retorted angrily, "That brute dared to insult my master, Emperor Fuxi; killing him was already being lenient. If not for considering the face of the Dragon Clan, I would have long vanished his soul and body!"
"What?" A chill struck Ao Bing’s heart; he hadn’t expected this woman to be a disciple of the Emperor. Ao Bing was not foolish, in fact, quite shrewd. Emperor Fuxi was the former Great Saint of the Demon Clan reincarnated, and behind him stood the Saint Nuwa and Taiqing. These were not forces the East Sea Dragon Clan could afford to offend.
That Qing San indeed deserved to die, daring to insult the Emperor.
Yet, with the words spoken and the scene set, how would the myriad forces of Primordial view the East Sea Dragon Clan if there was no reaction?
With this in mind, Ao Bing sighed softly and said, "Fellow Daoist speaks the truth! However, Qing San was, after all, a subordinate of the Dragon Palace; we must go through the motions."
Red Silk gave Ao Bing a cold look, her red lips parting slightly to reply, "So be it!"
