Chapter 998: Chapter 998: It’s you! You’ve come back to life!
Carson Flores pointed to the hand resting on his shoulder, his heart racing.
The hand floated up, raised its palm, and waggled it twice, as if to wave to Finlay Murphy.
Finlay Murphy’s previously vacant eyes suddenly focused, filled with intense heat and excitement.
"It’s you! Your hand, you’ve come back to life!"
Carson’s heart skipped a beat, Finlay Murphy truly knew the owner of this hand!
What’s happening?
Thinking of the light and shadow that had been chasing him, Carson said in a frantic tone, "Senior Finlay, I don’t know your relationship with this hand’s owner, but the Immortal who suppressed its owner, his Primordial Spirit Incarnation is right behind us, intent on re-suppressing it, and he’s almost upon us, I don’t know why it insisted on bringing me to you..."
Finlay Murphy cut Carson off abruptly, "The Void Path! Only by traversing the Void Path and crossing extreme distances can we possibly shake off the pursuing Immortal!"
Finlay Murphy suddenly became incredibly lucid, quickly taking out a White Jade Formation Disk from the Space Ring. The disk was inscribed with ancient and complicated Formation Patterns.
"This White Jade Formation Disk was her creation, capable of traversing the void to cross great distances. As long as the distance is sufficient, even his Primordial Spirit Incarnation as an Immortal will be unable to track her location!"
The fair arm pointed at the White Jade Formation Disk, and the Formation Patterns on it suddenly lit up, emitting a profound glow.
Carson, his guts tied up in knots, said, "Crossing the void, isn’t that going to tear you to pieces by the Void Force?"
Finlay Murphy replied, "With Array Force’s protection, one can safely traverse the void, so don’t worry."
Carson heaved a sigh of relief, that was good to hear. The last time he escaped from the Five Elements Immortal Palace through the Void Gate, he had almost been torn to shreds.
The light grew brighter.
"Stand in the center of the Array Plate, hold onto me, and remember, no matter what, don’t let go. If you’re left behind in the void, the only way out is death."
"Okay!"
Though Carson didn’t want to take this risk with them, he had no choice.
The Immortal was fast approaching, and Carson didn’t think he would carefully listen to his explanation and allow him to leave. More likely, after hearing everything, he would casually crush Carson with a flick of his finger.
Better to leave with Finlay Murphy and the others. At least, so far, aside from forcibly dragging him along, the hand had been quite friendly.
The white silhouette had already appeared on the horizon, with Carson exclaiming, "He’s here!"
Finlay Murphy’s face became solemn as he cast the spell into the Array Plate. The Array Plate burst into light, with a black hole appearing in its midst, instantly absorbing Finlay Murphy and Carson, vanishing from atop the disk.
The white silhouette arrived in an instant, saw the flickering Array Plate, and its body’s white light surged like a raging wave.
"The Void Array!"
The white silhouette bellowed in anger and struck down with his palm. The White Jade Formation Disk instantly shattered into fragments, and its light extinguished at once.
Hovering midair, the white silhouette looked around, as if sensing the hand’s location. After a long moment, in a pulse of rage, it threw a ground-shattering punch.
The earth collapsed, instantly creating a vast basin shaped like a bowl, tens of kilometers wide and bottomless.
The silhouette turned and strode away, soon vanishing into the horizon.
...
Clutching Finlay Murphy’s waist without concern for his image, Carson felt an unbearable glare before everything suddenly went dark, and they entered an odd space, seemingly viewing the entire Star River swirling as if caught in a turbulent vortex-riddled river.
Their bodies sped forward, seemingly protected by an invisible force field, as if enclosed in a launched space rescue pod.
"Bang!"
Carson felt a violent jolt, and the invisible force field around him began to fluctuate intensely, like a soap bubble fluttering in the wind, about to burst anytime.
"Hold tight!"
Finlay Murphy’s tense voice came through, "The Array Plate is destroyed, and we’ll soon lose protection..."
Lose protection?
Carson’s scalp tingled at the thought of again experiencing his flesh being slowly torn apart. The last time he escaped the Celestial Palace, he had nearly been ripped apart completely, a gruesome sight; if he hadn’t left the void so quickly, he might have actually died there.
Again?
The barrier silently shattered, and Carson once more felt that familiar tearing force.
But at that moment, the hand resting on Carson’s shoulder lifted a finger, and with a gentle tap, Carson felt himself wrapped in an invisible force. The tearing power decreased dramatically, still present but no longer as unbearable.
"Endure it, otherwise, if we’re too close, she will be sensed!"
Carson clung to Finlay Murphy, and after what felt like ages, the world spun, and light returned as they fell from the void.
Carson thudded onto hard rock, rubbing his head and clambering up from the ground. Looking around, all he saw was blackness.
Black soil, black mountains...
