Chapter 926: Chapter 926: The Most Primitive Way of Fighting

On the bronze ground, a small creature about twenty centimeters tall, covered in soft fur, with a pair of wings resembling those of a bat, and a head strikingly similar to a squirrel, blinked its eyes curiously as it gazed at Carson Flores.

A false alarm.

In that instant, Carson had felt the hair on the back of his neck stand on end. As he turned his head, he had imagined all sorts of ferocious scenarios...

"Cheep cheep!"

The little creature gave two soft calls towards Carson, its voice tender and cute.

Curiosity grew in Carson’s heart. How could such a dumbly cute little creature be here?

The doors of the hall were open. Had it wandered in from the nearby wilderness?

Carson looked it over a few times and then paid it no more mind. After all, it was common for small animals in the wild to seek shelter in uninhabited buildings from the wind and rain, wasn’t it?

But if this little creature could survive inside, were there really no terrifying fierce beasts around?

Was the Spirit Devouring Beast absent?

Feeling a little more at ease, Carson carefully began to explore the palace.

After investigating for a while, he felt bewildered.

There was absolutely nothing!

What was it that prevented the use of Spiritual Energy? Could it be a hidden spirit-sealing formation within the palace?

Remembering Elsie Matthews was still outside, an idea struck Carson. He walked into an inner room and suddenly let out a scream of terror!

"Ah... Ah... Ah!"

Two cries full of breath, followed by a scream that abruptly cut off, as if he had been attacked by a fierce beast and perished.

Having finished his act, Carson then sat down calmly in the room.

He had no intention of leaving. With just a couple of days left, he might as well stay here until the end of the Secret Realm.

Outside, he had a female tyrannosaur guarding the place.

With his ruse, she probably wouldn’t dare to enter now.

As Carson sat down on the floor, he was surprised to find that the little creature had followed him inside. It sat at a distance, its dumbly cute eyes filled with curiosity as it watched him.

Carson gave the little creature a friendly smile, took a bag of snacks from his space, tore it open, and threw it to the little one.

He wasn’t worried about making noise. After all, he had already pretended that a fierce beast was inside. A little sound was perfectly normal, wasn’t it?

The little creature extended its small paw, dragged the snack back, and then tentatively tasted it. Its cute eyes instantly brightened up, and it sat on the ground, hugging the snacks and eating contentedly.

Carson smiled silently.

They were both seeking refuge under someone else’s roof, avoiding disaster; they might be considered to share a misfortune.

Time swiftly passed, and three days went by.

Calculating the time, Carson estimated that the Secret Realm should end in at most half a day.

On the first day, Elsie had called out a few times from the doorway while probing. Carson naturally ignored her, and for the next two days, she didn’t call out at all. Perhaps she had already left.

Carson’s mood was very pleasant.

Over the three days, he stayed with the little creature, feeding it various snacks since there wasn’t much else to do.

Within half a day, the little creature had lost its wariness of him, running up to him to eat snacks and playing on his palm.

Unable to use Spiritual Energy and therefore unable to cultivate, the emptiness seemed less daunting with the presence of such a silly and cute little one to pass the time.

To Carson’s astonishment, the little creature had an incredible appetite. It seemed to eat non-stop for three days without taking a break. Yet its little belly never swelled. He had no idea where all the food went.

Just when Carson thought his journey in the Secret Realm would end quietly, Elsie Matthews’ figure suddenly appeared at the doorway of the room, an icy smirk on her face as she silently watched Carson.

Carson instinctively felt something was off, looked up, and was immediately taken aback.

"Damn it, how did you get in here!"

Elsie smirked and said, "If I didn’t come in, how could I enjoy your wonderful performance? Playing dead, huh?"

As she spoke, Elsie lunged at Carson like a tornado, her fingers joined together like a sword as she stabbed straight at him.

Carson dodged, and his fingers fiercely struck the bronze wall behind him, sparking a shower of sparks.

If that hit a person, wouldn’t it make a large hole?

Carson was tough, but he didn’t want to take such a hit. He lowered his body and rolled away, creating some distance.

Elsie came at him again like a gust of wind, her fist thundering out, her movement frighteningly fast.

Unable to dodge, Carson crossed his arms in defense to block the punch.

"Boom!"

He was sent flying more than ten meters, hitting the distant wall and bouncing back, making a dull collision sound.

Elsie attacked like a whirlwind once more. Carson shot forward, attempting a sneaky kick.

"How despicable!"

Elsie dodged aside, but Carson didn’t use the opportunity to create distance. Instead, he closed in on her, clinging to her body like a gecko in an instant.

Grabbing and twisting her arm, tangling his legs with hers, he wrapped his arms around her, pinning her to the ground...

Efficiently executing a Kimura grip, Carson had Elsie pinned to the floor in moments. Her other arm was free, but due to her body being pressed to the ground, she couldn’t muster the strength to attack Carson.

Carson pressed down on Elsie with all his might, his hands working frantically to try and break her arm.

Carson had never imagined that after entering the Cultivation Realm, he would end up engaging in close combat with someone, grappling and scuffling like an ordinary person...
