A day later, Carson reached the barrier and found the gatekeeper.

The gatekeeper was an elderly man with white hair, living atop a mountain peak, in a few small wooden huts under a large tree that seemed to be over a thousand years old, with lush branches and leaves forming a canopy above.

This elder seemed ageless, but felt very old and unfathomably deep.

Carson took out the Jade Pendant that represented his status as a disciple of Nutwood Heavenly Cave and handed it to the elder.
