Chapter 623: Chapter 623 Are You Willing? We Didn’t Force You_1
"Clang!"
The crisp metallic clash, fierce and violent, reverberated melodiously throughout the entire camp.
The flying sword, speeding through the air like a golf ball struck by a swiftly swung club, suddenly veered off course and plunged heavily to the ground, burying itself in the dirt.
Emilio Compton’s face paled as if drained of blood, and a trickle of blood seeped from the corner of his mouth.
Connected by spirit to his flying sword, Carson Flores’s strike was akin to a heavy hammer blow to Emilio’s mind. For a moment, spiritual energy surged chaotically, nearly leading to a collapse.
With a muffled groan, Emilio forcibly gathered his wits, flicked his fingers, and attempted to control the flying sword to lift off again.
The flying sword, like a snake hit in its vital spot, twisted on the ground, struggling to break free and rise into the air. However, before it could escape the earth’s grasp, Carson had already stomped down on it.
With Carson’s foot coming down on the flying sword, it was as if a mountain bore down upon it, causing the very ground to seem to tremble violently.
The raging spiritual energy immediately surged against the flying sword, which was stomped into the ground by his foot, turning it into a lifeless serpent, motionless.
"Wow!"
Emilio’s vision darkened, and a mouthful of fresh blood sprayed out.
The look he gave Carson Flores was no longer arrogant; it was filled with panic and resentment.
He had never expected Carson to be so strong, to be unharmed even by the flying sword. Moreover, Carson’s two brutal attacks had shaken Emilio to the core, causing serious injury, and the flying sword likely sustained significant damage as well.
He had suffered a great loss.
And his pride had been deeply wounded.
The more flamboyantly he had wielded the flying sword, the greater his current humiliation.
Carson looked down at the flying sword, now as lifeless as a dead serpent, bent over to pick it up, smiled at Emilio, and then casually stowed it away in his Space Ring.
Emilio was aghast: "Give me back my flying sword!"
Carson sneered, "You’ve already used your flying sword to try and kill me, and you still expect me to return it? Are you still dreaming from this morning? Why don’t you ask me to clean my neck and offer it to you for execution?"
Emilio had nothing to say in response.
Indeed, he had attempted to kill the other party, and now, should the other party still save his face by returning the flying sword and giving him another chance at his life?
Anybody but a fool wouldn’t return it.
Carson’s cold gaze rested on Emilio: "Is this all you’ve got? Your entire pride is built on a single Gathering Qi Pill and a flying sword?"
Grinding his teeth, Emilio turned to his companions: "Nikolai, Elise, please lend me a hand. Kill Carson Flores and take back the Water-Fire Mirror. We’ll rethink who it belongs to!"
Nikolai Jimenez and Elise Parry’s eyes instantly gleamed.
A re-deciding of ownership!
Nikolai’s smile contained a subtle greed: "According to our previous agreement, the Water-Fire Mirror was unearthed by your man, and thus, it belongs to you. We shouldn’t have intervened."
Elise immediately caught Nikolai’s drift and chimed in: "But it seems that you can’t retrieve the Water-Fire Mirror and your life is even at risk. You’re asking for our help, not just to retake the Water-Fire Mirror but to save your life, right?"
Emilio instantly grasped their implication, and his face grew even more embarrassed.
These two were taking advantage of the situation, intending to completely exclude him from the fight for the Water-Fire Mirror. They wanted him to concede the mirror, allowing them to claim it from Carson legitimately, and after their victory, it would have nothing to do with him.
Although Emilio was loath to let go, he knew that Carson had been too dominant on his way here.
Carson had killed Seth Hoffman with a single punch, defeated numerous Innate Great Grandmasters from the Hoffman Family, intimidated hundreds of cultivators alone, and then vanquished him in a duel. At this point, who would still take action on his behalf?
"Fine!"
Despite hating their opportunism in his heart, Emilio knew this was the normal course of action; he would have done the same himself.
Loudly, Emilio agreed: "As long as you can kill Carson Flores, the Water-Fire Mirror is yours; I won’t partake in its division!"
Nikolai’s eyes lit up: "You’re saying this voluntarily, right? It’s not us forcing you."
Seething with frustration internally, Emilio nevertheless responded agreeably: "Yes, it’s my own choice."
Nikolai turned to Elise: "What do you say, Sister Elise?"
As Elise was considering her response, Carson suddenly gestured and tossed two cell phones toward her.
Elise instinctively dodged, and on seeing the phones land on the ground, her face flushed with embarrassment.
She had actually been startled by two cell phones, which was shameful.
Just as Elise was about to ask Carson what he meant by throwing the phones, a thought suddenly struck her.
Two phones?
Alonzo Howell and Franco Butler?
Elise’s expression shifted slightly: "What are you implying?"
Carson chuckled: "Your two men found me and tried to stealthily kill me and rob the Water-Fire Mirror, then dispose of the body without a trace. They planned to sneak back to the Spiritual Ruin Blessed Land. It was a good plan, but their power was just not enough..."
