Chapter 477: Chapter 477 Win and Stay, Lose and Get Lost_1

"Mount Liang..."

The group looked at the characters on the archway before them. Josie Howell asked, "The name of this Unknown Land?"

Garrett Howell glanced at the bluestone-paved road beneath their feet and said with a heavy voice, "This is the road entering the city, the characters on this arch... they should be, right?"

Jeffrey Howell exclaimed, "By its name, it should have been a paradise on a mountain. But now, it has become an Underground City, concealing itself from the sunlight. It’s uncertain what earth-shattering changes have happened here. And the people who lived here...where have they gone?"

The group stood under the archway, each feeling a curious mixture of emotions.

"Let’s go!"

They proceeded along the bluestone pavement towards the heart of the city and soon saw houses scattered in thoughtful disarray.

Unlike the sparse housing of the village they’d passed earlier, the houses here were clustered more densely.

Because they couldn’t fathom the layout of the entire town and everything was veiled in darkness, their vision was limited to only what was directly in front of them. They couldn’t pinpoint which locations were of importance and could only grope and search blindly.

This was nothing like exploring under the moonlight when the faint glimmer of stars outlined the shapes of buildings, revealing the layout within a certain range. In this Underground City, they were engulfed in pitch-black darkness, void of any illumination, making it tough to move even an inch!

It was like playing a mystery game where, within a completely dark area, the character has only a flashlight, with visibility being extremely limited. To explore an area, you would have to rely on memory, conjecture, and a bit of luck.

After walking a distance, Garrett Howell started to form an impression of the architecture here and made a decision.

"Follow the streets to find the commercial areas first, and search for pharmacies, shops, weapon stores, and such to get their location."

After traveling awhile, Jeffrey Howell suddenly called out, "Here!"

Hearing him, everyone quickly gathered and saw a sign fluttering in the wind.

"Elixir."

The single character caused everyone’s eyes to light up.

Ruben Howell, excited, dashed straight through the open gates, but the next second, Gang Qi struck like a whirling blade.

"Bang!"

Ruben Howell’s body was slammed back through the door panel from which he had just emerged.

Jeffrey Howell caught Ruben Howell, simultaneously diffusing the ferocious force bearing down upon him.

Ruben Howell’s face was pale, and a trickle of blood seeped from the corner of his mouth, clearly having sustained no minor injury.

Garrett Howell peered into the pitch-black pharmacy and asked in a deep voice, "Which distinguished friend is being so aggressive?"

An aged voice replied from inside the pharmacy, "This place is already taken, please find somewhere else, friend."

The person inside didn’t reveal their identity, but it was evident that someone had already claimed the pharmacy.

Jeffrey Howell murmured, "The person inside must have only just arrived, otherwise the place would’ve been cleaned out by now. Moreover, there must be something valuable inside, otherwise they wouldn’t have attacked without warning..."

Josie Howell declared angrily, "Never mind for now what treasures might be inside, they injured one of our people without a word, and we should seek justice for this!"

Garrett Howell hesitated for a moment, then made up his mind.

Although there might not be exceedingly precious elixirs in the pharmacy, the probability of obtaining elixirs and medicinal herbs was greatest there. To give up without a fight was out of the question!

Before entering, everyone had been told that this expedition would likely cost lives!

Discovery was only the first step; strife and competition for resources were the true challenges ahead.

Garrett Howell said sternly, "You have attacked and injured someone without cause; that is somewhat overbearing. It is clear that we cannot just walk away now. Either we explore together, and fortune decides our gains, or we settle this with a fight—the winner stays, the loser leaves."

Murmurs came from within the house, and after a moment, the door to the pharmacy opened, and an elderly man with white hair came out.

"And how shall we decide the winner?"

Jeffrey Howell whispered a warning, "That’s Saint Jaramillo from the Eight Spirits Sect. He is very powerful."

Garrett Howell stepped forward, "Each side sends one person: the victor stays, the defeated leaves!"

Saint Jaramillo nodded, "Okay, I will fight. Who from your side will?"

Garrett Howell stood opposite Saint Jaramillo, "I will!"

Carson Flores frowned, but did not speak.

In a one-on-one fight, he was sure to win!

But considering the attitude of the Howell family, Carson Flores didn’t see the need to step forward. Moreover, even if Carson Flores fought tooth and nail and won, entering the pharmacy and securing the elixirs—would the Howells share them with him?

No, they would not!

With that in mind, why bother taking the lead?

Turning on a strong flashlight to its floodlight setting, the immediate vicinity was bathed in light. Without a word wasted, Garrett Howell and his opponent charged toward each other.

As the Howell Family’s leader, Garrett Howell’s strength was considerable, but Saint Jaramillo who came out to fight seemed even stronger.

"Bang, bang, bang!"

In a succession of collisions, Garrett Howell crashed to the ground like a meteor, spitting out a mouthful of fresh blood.

"You’ve lost. Please leave!"
