Chapter 471: Chapter 471 Refusing to Guess, Not Enough Brains!_1
"’Death’ is just a word I used to describe its current state,"
Jaiden Howell chose his words carefully, "The living Unknown Land is shrouded in mystery. People live and cultivate there, unreachable by the common folk unless they possess a special pass. It’s as if there’s a mystical barrier separating the Unknown Land from the world of men, making it like a paradisiacal realm that clearly exists in this world, yet is untouchable."
"The dead Unknown Land has shed its mysterious veil, akin to returning from the Immortal Realm to the mortal world, revealing its true nature. Moreover, most importantly, the restrictions of the mystical entrance have disappeared. Anyone who finds the entrance can enter!"
Carson Flores was dumbstruck, "Is this really the Unknown Land?"
Jaiden Howell picked up a file folder from the table beside him, opened it, and took out some blueprints within.
He placed a blueprint in front of Carson Flores, "Take a look."
Carson leaned in and looked closely; it was a sketch made in pencil. Although somewhat messy, the cross-section was clearly visible.
A horizontal line at the top third of the paper must represent the ground since it had mountains on it and place names were marked.
The bottom two-thirds likely depicted the underground. Starting from a small gap on the left, leading downwards, there was an ancient tomb, not particularly large, but beneath it was a sudden expanse of emptiness.
The underground space suddenly widened, and just from the cross-section, it was immensely spacious, being at least a hundred meters high, and the section continued to extend towards the back, indicating that this area was not only tall but incredibly long!
Carson, still in shock, pointed to the blueprint, "Is this the Vast Domain that lies beneath, as you just mentioned, sir?"
Jaiden Howell placed another blueprint in front of Carson, "The one before was a cross-section, this is the approximate range we detected using advanced equipment, with dimensions noted."
Carson looked closely, his pupils suddenly contracting, "An Underground City that is thirty kilometers long, twenty kilometers wide, and about 150 meters in height?"
Jaiden Howell’s eyes sparkled with excitement, "Yes."
Carson asked with confusion, "Could this be some enormous underground royal tomb, like that of an emperor?"
Jaiden Howell shook his head and pointed at the blueprint, "Do you know, this Underground City has clusters of houses, trees in front of the homes, ancient wells for drawing water, as well as streets and shops. Who would build these inside a royal tomb?"
"Moreover, the entire Underground City is situated in an extremely hard layer of subterranean rock. You can think of the entire city as being encased in a single piece of incredibly hard rock, with only a large gap on the upper right side of the rock layer. The rest is intact..."
Carson’s eyes were wide open, his gaze falling on the blueprint, his brain struggling to keep up.
"Could it be due to tectonic movements that caused a city above ground to sink?"
Jaiden Howell denied the possibility, "If it were tectonic movements, a city on the surface could indeed sink, but do you think the buildings would remain intact without collapsing and that these spaces would not be buried by earth? And how would it have sunk into this giant layer of hard rock?"
Carson was completely stumped and decided to just ask directly, "What’s your conclusion then?"
Jaiden Howell’s eyes gleamed as he spoke, "There are obvious traces of fractures around the Underground City, which means that it is just part of the original location where it once lay. It might have originally existed within a mystical space, but for some reason, the Unknown Land died."
"The dead Unknown Land reappeared in the human world and somehow, from this location, it directly sliced into the underground, hammering into the rock layer to form what we see now."
"This Underground City has a height of one hundred and fifty meters. This one hundred and fifty-meter space is completely empty, which suggests that there must have been some kind of energy enveloping the area. Otherwise, given such a large force, all the buildings would have been destroyed by the impact with the rock layer."
"Inside this Underground City, we found some bones in certain areas. We tested these bones and guess what we discovered?"
Carson shook his head, refusing to speculate.
His brain was overloaded.
Jaiden Howell said excitedly, "Our instruments indicate that the age of these bones is over one hundred and fifty years old, with the oldest being two hundred and twenty years!"
Carson’s eyes widened, "Such a long lifespan?"
Jaiden Howell nodded, "Yes. We concluded that the Underground City is the dead Unknown Land based on numerous factors, and the lifespan of these individuals is an important piece of evidence. It’s said that the Unknown Land holds the secret to immortality. While that’s obviously an exaggeration, I think they might have had far longer than normal lifespans due to the special environment or cultivation methods."
Carson silently processed what he had heard for a while before asking, "Sir, why have you asked to see me?"
Jaiden Howell responded, "I would like to invite you to join our team and explore the Underground City!"
