Chapter 470: Chapter 470 The Unknown Land that Died_1

Carson Flores unlocked his phone and quickly scanned through this month’s messages, his eyes betraying a hint of disappointment.

There was no news from Shirley Miller.

Since Shirley Miller had left, it was as if she had vanished into thin air, leaving no trace behind.

It had been over two months since Shirley Miller had departed.

"If she comes back within ten days, that means failure, but if she doesn’t return, it could be as short as two months or as long as six months. The longer the stay, the greater the benefits..."

Despite the tinge of disappointment, remembering what Derek Eaton had said when he left, Carson couldn’t help but feel happy for Shirley Miller.

Although unclear about the benefits, since even Derek Eaton referred to them as such, who would complain about having too much?

Carson collected his thoughts and began checking other messages.

There weren’t many messages, nor were they particularly important; after all, Carson didn’t have many friends, and those who were close, like Camille Rhodes and the Frost family members, knew that he was in retreat and would not disturb him.

One message caught Carson’s attention.

"Mr. Flores, this is Jaiden Howell. I couldn’t reach you by phone and want to discuss something. Please call me back."

Jaiden Howell?

The widely respected archaeologist whom Leonard Reid had once asked him to rescue?

What did he want with him?

Could it be that he had recovered from his illness and wanted to thank him with a meal?

After a moment’s thought, Carson called Leonard Reid.

"Hey, there you are. I was afraid something had happened to you. I even called the Frost Family to ask about you. They said you were in retreat; it gave me quite the scare..."

Carson laughed, "Did you need me for something?"

Leonard Reid replied, "No, not me; that old gentleman, whom I had previously asked you to treat, wanted your phone number. He later asked if I knew where you had gone, probably something he needs from you?"

Carson inquired, "His illness hasn’t completely healed? Is it about the treatment?"

"I asked about that. He said his health is fully restored, and he has even returned to work. But he didn’t mention what he wanted, and I didn’t feel it was my place to press the issue."

Carson smiled, "Alright, he sent me a message too. I’ll give him a call."

After ending the call, Carson dialed Jaiden Howell’s number, his curiosity piqued. If it wasn’t about the treatment, what could the old gentleman possibly want?

The call connected.

Jaiden Howell’s voice was filled with surprise, "Mr. Flores?"

Carson smiled, "Mr. Howell, I was in retreat and had my phone switched off. Did you need something from me?"

Jaiden Howell asked, "Do you have time now?"

Although Carson didn’t know what Jaiden Howell had planned, he promptly replied, "Yes."

"Could you come over to my place of work? There’s something I’d like you to have a look at."

While Carson found it strange, considering Jaiden Howell’s status, his urgent inquiry was unlikely to be a mere joke.

"Sure, send me the address, and I’ll be right there."

"I’ll send it right away."

Carson soon received a location sent by Jaiden Howell. After briefly notifying Leah Frost, he drove to the coordinates provided.

Half an hour later, Carson arrived at the destination.

"Mr. Howell."

After more than a month, Jaiden Howell’s previously emaciated face had regained normalcy, and he looked vigorous and hale.

"Mr. Flores, please come in."

Jaiden Howell warmly welcomed Carson into the house, invited him to sit down, and gratefully said, "If it weren’t for your help, I’d probably have grass growing over my grave by now."

After deflecting modestly for a few moments, Carson steered the conversation back to the purpose of his visit.

"Mr. Howell, what is it that you wanted to show me?"

Jaiden Howell asked solemnly, "Mr. Flores, do you know about The Unknown Land?"

Carson was taken aback; he hadn’t expected Jaiden Howell’s first question to be this.

"I’ve heard mentions of it, but they are all very vague and unclear."

Jaiden Howell spoke astoundingly, "When you treated me previously, didn’t you ask whether I’d come across any newly discovered tombs or ancient coffins?"

Carson nodded, his anticipation growing; he had a feeling Jaiden Howell was about to disclose something eye-opening and astonishing.

"Yes."

Jaiden Howell declared, "I suspect the tomb we discovered is an entrance to The Unknown Land."

Carson’s eyes widened, "Why do you say that? It’s said that The Unknown Land is a mystical place untouchable by the mundane world, only accessible with a special pass. How could it simply present itself before you, and as an ancient tomb at that?"

Jaiden Howell sighed, "The tomb might be just an entrance to The Unknown Land."

Before Carson could ask further, Jaiden Howell crisply presented his final conjecture, "We found an ancient tomb, and upon entering, we unexpectedly discovered a Vast Domain underground, an Underground City that cannot be explained by science."

Carson’s eyes bulged, "You went in?"

"Yes!"

Carson queried with confusion, "Isn’t it said that ordinary people can’t step foot into The Unknown Land?"

Jaiden Howell’s eyes blazed passionately as he declared, "Indeed, ordinary people cannot venture into The Unknown Land, but we theorize that this is a dead Unknown Land."

Carson stared at Jaiden Howell, shock evident in his gaze, "The Unknown Land has a distinction of being alive and dead?"
