Chapter 422: Chapter 422 Is this what relatives are?_1
Carson Flores went upstairs and saw Leah Frost leaning against the doorway of her room, gazing at him with a distant look in her eyes.
For some reason, Carson felt somewhat guilty.
"Auntie..."
Leah Frost extended her finger and poked Carson, her tone carrying a hint of reproach, "You..."
Carson knew Leah Frost was blaming him for not planning to return, and could only offer an awkward smile.
Leah Frost didn’t say much, just pushed open the door of the room opposite her bedroom, "Pajamas, towels, toiletries are all new. Go wash up and sleep early. Tomorrow you don’t have to get up early, just wake up when you’ve slept enough. You’re at home, don’t be inhibited. I at least am going to sleep until nine or ten."
"Okay!"
Leah Frost waved her hand, "Good night."
"Good night!"
After Leah Frost went back to her room to sleep, Carson quickly took a shower, then changed into his pajamas and lay on the bed.
It was quite late, but Carson had no desire to sleep.
Thinking about the day’s series of encounters, Carson felt a curious blend of emotions.
Unconditional trust and care, is this what family is?
It feels... pretty good.
Embracing complex emotions, Carson slowly drifted off to sleep.
After a night of good dreams, Carson woke up and gazed around the unfamiliar room, feeling slightly unsettled.
He checked the time, 9:10.
Carson got out of bed, finished his morning routine, and headed downstairs.
Grandpa Dawson Frost was outside the villa, watering the vegetable garden with a hose, while Grandma Ella Walters sat on the sofa cracking sunflower seeds and watching TV.
"Good morning, Grandma."
Seeing Carson come down, Ella Walters set aside her plate of seeds and stood up, smiling, "There are steamed buns in the kitchen, and congee too. Not sure if you like them."
Carson smiled and replied, "Steamed buns and congee sound great. If there’s some pickled vegetables, it would be perfect."
"We have pickles."
Ella Walters walked toward the kitchen with a beaming smile, relieved. Her biggest concern was that Carson would feel uncomfortable and constrained living here, treating himself more like a guest than family. Now that she saw Carson comfortably making requests, Ella Walters felt very happy.
Politeness is for guests, for outsiders. Family should say what they need to say, without any reservations.
Carson didn’t just sit and wait; he followed her to the kitchen, took a serving of steamed buns and congee back to the dining table, and started eating with big bites of bun and mouthfuls of congee and pickles.
As he was eating, Leah Frost came down from upstairs.
"Oh, you’re already eating."
Carson smiled, "Yeah, I didn’t wait for you."
Leah Frost replied with a smile, "And I was planning to take you to try Seashore’s special breakfast delicacies. Looks like that’ll have to wait for next time."
Leah Frost also got some congee and steamed buns and sat across Carson, casually asking, "How did you sleep?"
"Very well. Why didn’t you sleep a bit longer?"
Leah Frost laughed, "I was hungry, couldn’t sleep."
After they finished breakfast, Leah Frost patted Carson on the shoulder, "You don’t have plans today, do you?"
Carson replied, "Nothing planned, just that Nathaniel Frost and Lillian Frost said they’re coming down to go out and have some fun with me."
Leah Frost’s eyes lit up, "Looks like you had fun last night?"
Carson smiled, "Pretty good."
Leah Frost chuckled, "So you have the morning free, then. You’ll accompany your auntie on a shopping trip. You can be my driver and bodyguard. Young people can’t just stay home all day and watch TV, right?"
Carson agreed with a smile. Although he had his own purposes for coming to Seashore, nothing was particularly urgent.
"Okay!"
Once they were out the door, Carson took on the role of the driver, starting up the red sports car, and took Leah Frost to the shopping mall.
Leah Frost watched as Carson got into the car and started it with familiarity, a trace of curiosity in her eyes.
Her nephew seemed quite familiar with luxury cars.
"Your luggage is still at the hotel, isn’t it? Do we need to pick it up?"
Carson laughed, "I didn’t stay at a hotel. Before I came, a friend of mine found me a place to stay. I’m a big guy; I don’t have much stuff. No need to pick anything up."
Leah Frost laughed, "You have friends in Seashore too?"
Carson explained, "A friend from Seashore, he works in real estate. He has business in Seashore too, so we came to Seashore together."
Leah Frost smiled, "Oh, now you’re on your own so just live with us at home. When you find a girlfriend and are ready to get married, your auntie will give you an apartment as a wedding gift. Then you can have your own little world."
Carson just smiled, "That won’t be necessary..."
Leah Frost spoke naturally, "I’m your auntie. With your mom not around, of course, I should take care of you. Remember this, I’m your auntie, and you don’t have to be polite with me!"
Not wanting to argue over this matter, since for him "marriage" was still a long way off, Carson thought that by then, if all went well, they would already clearly understand who he was, and the question of needing an apartment wouldn’t even arise.
"Got it."
Once they arrived at the mall and parked the car, Leah Frost led Carson inside and began to browse around.
"How about this one?"
"And this piece?"
"Would it look better paired like this?"
Leah Frost kept trying on clothes, asking for Carson’s opinion.
Leah Frost was very beautiful, with a wild and unrestrained sort of beauty. She was tall and shapely, a natural model, and looked good in anything.
Carson gave his honest opinion as they picked out clothes. After a while, Leah Frost smiled, "It’s nice to have a handsome guy to shop with. Now it’s your turn to try on clothes and let me give you suggestions..."
