Chapter 415: Chapter 415: Let me introduce you, there’s all kinds!_1
Ella Walters’ affection for her grandson was clear as day; the fallen fruit tray, the red eyes, the tears—all were genuine.
Even though Dawson Frost spoke in a stern tone, he made it clear that he indeed had objections to Westin Flores and Lucy Frost being together, but that had nothing to do with his grandson. He didn’t dislike Carson Flores because of it.
"Grandma!"
"Grandpa!"
Isn’t it his turn to call out to grandma and grandpa, just like his aunt did?
With no emotional barriers, Carson spoke up readily.
"Ah!"
Ella Walters nodded with joy, wiping her eyes, "That’s wonderful! If your parents knew we are reunited today, they would be so happy..."
In the time that followed, Ella Walters asked about various things with concern. Since Carson’s previous account of his experiences was true, he didn’t need to fabricate anything, just truthfully answer.
He wasn’t deliberately on guard; it was just a habit ingrained from childhood.
Carson hadn’t often experienced much warmth in his daily interactions with Andrew since he was little, so he genuinely felt a bit uncomfortable now, facing the deep concern from Ella Walters, an elder.
"Carson, come on, I’ll take you to see some photos."
Perhaps sensing Carson’s discomfort, Leah Frost intervened tactfully, rescuing him from the loving embrace of his family and leading him upstairs.
"You’ve never been in these kinds of situations, have you? You look like you want to dig a hole and escape..."
Maybe it was because Leah Frost’s words carried a sense of closeness with her parents, and because they were close in age, she spoke in a more offbeat manner, making Carson feel more at ease around her.
Carson nodded candidly, "First time."
Carson wasn’t lying. Even when facing Shirley Miller’s grandfather or Samantha Tate’s parents, Carson had never felt this awkward.
Leah Frost suddenly said seriously, "When your sister had you, we knew about it. She even said she would bring you home, and your grandmother has been looking forward to it all this time. Who could have known that everything would suddenly go silent? We thought you three went to your father’s hometown, only to find out it turned out like this..."
"We were the ones out of the loop, otherwise, no matter how long it took, we would have definitely found you and brought you back to the Frost family. You don’t have to doubt that."
Carson thought for a while and asked, "As far as I know, the Frost family is quite influential and extensive..."
Leah Frost understood Carson’s implication instantly and responded straightforwardly, "The Frost family is large, and the concerns you might have definitely exist—the sordid conflicts that come with wealthy families, which you surely know about, or could guess. But, even if there are issues and strife, that’s between other branches, not within our own."
"Your eldest uncle, third uncle, and your mother have a very good relationship. During our annual family gatherings, everyone mentions your mother, wondering if she’s doing well. So, don’t feel any burden; as for the others, I can’t say, but within this household, the affection is undeniable."
Carson nodded, "Strife? What about?"
Leah Frost chuckled, "With a large family and business, comes an abundance of assets and interests to contend for. Naturally, it’s about competition over profits, and then the struggle for the family’s leadership positions. In sum, it’s all about power and wealth."
As they talked, the two entered Leah Frost’s room. Just as they stepped inside, Leah let out a shriek, moving with lightning speed to the side of the bed, where she swiftly picked up two black, lace-trimmed undergarments, hiding them behind her back.
Carson, with his keen eyes, had already seen what they were and turned away with a slightly embarrassed expression.
Leah Frost quickly tossed the clothes into the wardrobe and shut the door. Only then did she turn around, maintaining her composure with a smile, "My room is usually a mess because no one comes here. Please don’t mind it."
Carson faced her again, pretending he hadn’t seen anything, and chimed in, "The place I’m staying at is also a bit messy."
Leah Frost raised an eyebrow, "Living alone? No girlfriend?"
Carson hesitated for half a second before deciding to deny it.
What if he said he had a girlfriend who was actually right there in West Jing? They’d surely ask him to invite her over for dinner. Wouldn’t that be uncomfortable?
It was his first time meeting these relatives anyway. How awkward would it be for Samantha Tate?
"No girlfriend."
Leah Frost made a bold move, patting Carson on the shoulder, "You’re a good-looking guy, so no worries there. I’ll introduce you to a girlfriend when we’re back; whatever type you’re into, I have connections!"
Carson quickly declined, "I’m not planning on it at the moment, so no trouble needed."
Leah Frost wouldn’t let up, wooing him softly, "How can you not have a girlfriend? At your age, you should have a woman by your side. Some things shouldn’t always be done by hand; it’s not good, it can cause problems. If it causes issues, it could affect you for life."
Carson felt as though the wheel of the car was rolling over his face. Was this woman really driving—and so aggressively?
If Leah Frost were anyone else, Carson might retort with a tease. But Leah Frost was his aunt; how could he dare continue the conversation?
What if he responded, and Leah Frost came back with something even more scandalous? How could he live with that?
