Chapter 279: Chapter 279: The Delivered Dish, If It’s Not Tough on Bai, It’s Not Tough Enough_1
Four people moved away from the crowd of onlookers and into the adjacent rest room.
Carson Flores said in a laid-back tone, "Miss Miller, there’s no one here. If there’s anything inconvenient to say in front of others, now’s the time to speak."
Harper Miller glared at Carson Flores coldly, "You tricked me!"
Carson Flores laughed, "I just let you play on your own, but you insisted on playing with us. You were the one who proposed the bet, and I just modified the wager. You accepted it voluntarily. Even if I did trick you, I did it fair and square. I didn’t force you to accept it. Can you really blame me?"
Harper Miller snorted coldly, "I don’t have twenty million, but I’ll give you two million. Let’s call it even. Send over your card number, and I’ll transfer the money right away!"
Carson Flores smiled slightly, his tone calm and unhurried, "Miss Miller, I think you should remember clearly that our bet was for twenty million—oh, sorry, nineteen million five hundred thousand, not two million. I don’t want a penny more than the wager, nor will I accept a penny less."
Harper Miller said mockingly, "You really are reaching out of your coffin, dying for money. Since you know I’m from the Miller Family, do you dare to extort twenty million from me without fearing you’ll make money but not live to spend it?"
Carson Flores laughed heartily, "You just worry about paying. Whether I live to spend the money is my business. Who knows, maybe after I get the money, I’ll take off running. The Miller Family might be rich and powerful, but you still need to find me for it to matter, right?"
Harper Miller blinked and sneered, "So you insist on nineteen million five hundred thousand, is that right?"
Carson Flores nodded, "Yes, I won it fair and square. Why wouldn’t I want it?"
Harper Miller nodded, speaking decisively, "Fine, you wait. I’ll make a call."
Carson Flores chuckled, "Go on, make your call. Samantha, let’s go and continue playing."
Without bothering with Henry White and Harper Miller, Carson Flores pulled Samantha Tate back to the other room, and they continued to play pool.
Looking back at Harper Miller making a call in the distance, Samantha asked in a low voice, "What are you plotting? It doesn’t seem like she’s arranging for the money."
Carson Flores laughed, "Of course not. She’s calling for someone, but definitely not to arrange for the money. She can’t come up with twenty million and can’t afford to lose face for the Miller Family, so the only option left is to call someone to deal with me and make sure I shut up."
Samantha frowned, "Is it necessary to make such a big deal out of it?"
Carson Flores picked up a bowling ball and threw it without brute force, relying purely on technique. The ball initially rolled straight before veering off and barely knocking down three pins.
"It’s more of a challenge this way. Relying on brute force is just too boring."
Carson Flores chuckled and answered Samantha’s question, "The Millers and I are at the point of no return now, so I don’t need to worry about Miss Miller’s dignity. We happened to meet today, so I’m just taking the opportunity to give them a little torture, stir up the Miller Family a bit. They’ve been too quiet lately, and I have a feeling they’re preparing something big to do me in."
Samantha bit her lip, looking worried, "Could it be dangerous?"
Carson Flores laughed, "There’s always some danger. If you want to take someone down, you can’t expect to be completely safe. But don’t worry, I’ve got it under control. I reckon things will come to a head in the next month or two. How about you go traveling for a bit and come back once it’s all blown over?"
Samantha shook her head, "No, my sister is still here. Why should I run? Besides, it’s the same old line: if they target me, whatever they do, don’t worry about me. Just go grab some important people from the Miller Family. I don’t believe they’ll dare to touch me then."
Carson Flores couldn’t help but chuckle, "You see right through it. Big families have their advantages, but the larger the family, the more they have to lose. I’ve talked to Knox Miller on the phone; they won’t drag you into this because, as you said, they can’t afford the consequences."
Samantha laughed, "Well then, that’s that. I want to stay here and watch you crush the Miller Family."
Carson Flores laughed, "Okay, let’s play first and wait for them to come."
After about half an hour of playing, a middle-aged man entered the bowling alley and met with Harper Miller. After a brief conversation, Henry White came over.
"Mr. Flores, Harper’s family has arrived. They would like you to come over."
"All right!"
Carson Flores readily agreed and walked with Samantha toward them, casually asking, "Did they get the money together?"
Henry White’s expression was somewhat meaningful as he glanced at Carson Flores, seeming a bit puzzled.
Is this guy really naive or just plain stupid?
To actually believe Harper Miller called to arrange money for him, to really think the person who came was to deliver money?
"I’m not exactly clear on the details. You should talk to him directly."
Herry White evaded with that response, but internally he was pondering what he would do after Carson Flores got dealt with, and whether Samantha would plead for him. How should he act then?
Should he pretend to plead on her behalf?
Should he scornfully kick her while she’s down in revenge?
Thinking about the scene where Samantha had just initiated a hug and kiss with Carson Flores, Henry White felt a surge of jealous rage.
Even though he knew she didn’t like him and had rejected him, aware that what the two of them did had nothing to do with him, he still felt furious, as if something of his was taken away!
Hmph!
Carson Flores, you think you’re so tough?
Let’s see how you’ll handle this hurdle!
