Chapter 244: Chapter 244: Such Bad Luck, This Saucy Fox Has Come Too!_1
"I love that phrase!"
Camille Rhodes’ eyes lit up, "So cool!"
Carson Flores laughed, "It’s yours, no royalty fees."
Camille Rhodes humphed, "As if you could charge me."
Carson Flores chuckled, "So, who’s organizing this race? It sounds quite sizable."
Camille Rhodes replied, "Kylan Martinez. He loves racing and he’s really good at it, even has a professional racer’s license. He prefers street racing though, and he currently holds the record for the entire track. No one has been able to break it."
Carson Flores raised an eyebrow, slightly surprised, "Kylan Martinez? The Martinez Family?"
"Yes, the Martinez Family. The ones into real estate and biotech."
Camille Rhodes explained, "I don’t know if you’ve heard of the Eight Great Families of Seashore?"
Carson Flores smiled, "Acevedo, Howard, Rhodes, Martinez; Johnston, some other families, he’s from the Martinez Family in the Top Four Families?"
Camille Rhodes nodded, "Right, he’s the son of the Family Head of the Martinez Family, thirty-three years old this year and the future heir of the Martinez Family."
Carson Flores’ eyes widened. What a coincidence!
Wasn’t he whom Remy Johnston had been talking about?
"The Four Young Masters of Seashore City?"
Camille Rhodes looked at Carson surprised, "You know about the Four Young Masters of Seashore City too?"
Carson Flores nodded, "Heard it from a friend. By the way, who are the other three?"
Camille Rhodes smiled, "Those who are called ’Young Masters’ are all heirs to their families. In old terms, they would be the young Family Heads. Apart from Kylan Martinez of the Martinez Family, there’s Lennox Acevedo from the Acevedo Family, Colson Howard from the Howard Family, and Preston Rhodes from our Rhodes Family. Preston Rhodes is my elder brother."
Carson Flores asked, "How many siblings do you have?"
Camille Rhodes smiled, "Three of us. My brother is the oldest; I’m the second oldest, and then I have a younger brother."
Carson Flores uttered a sound of realization and laughed, "The Four Young Masters of Seashore City, sounds really imposing."
Camille Rhodes laughed, "It’s just what others call them, nothing special. Mainly because they are the designated heirs and have taken over a significant part of their family businesses. They’ve got quite a say within their families, so among their peers, they stand out a lot and wield amazing influence."
Carson Flores remembered the unspoken trouble Kylan Martinez had and silently marveled at how the world works in mysterious ways. Remy Johnston hadn’t even introduced Kylan Martinez to him yet, and through Camille Rhodes, it seemed he might meet him first.
Carson Flores thought Camille Rhodes was taking him to a restaurant, but to his surprise, they left the city, veered off the highway, took a side road, and finally pulled into a large farm-styled complex by the side of the road.
"We’re eating here?"
Camille Rhodes smiled, "Yes, this is a place Kylan Martinez opened specially for this race track. Anyone coming to race can park here, drink, gamble, and have fun..."
Carson Flores looked out in surprise at the wide, fenced dual-lane road outside, "He’s treating this highway as his own, huh?"
Camille Rhodes laughed, "Don’t doubt it, this road belongs to his family!"
Carson Flores, curious, asked, "A highway can be owned privately?"
Camille Rhodes explained, "This road connects to another public highway and is like a link between two highways. This road wasn’t originally there and wasn’t planned. Kylan Martinez financed its planning and construction himself. However, he doesn’t claim full ownership. He only closes it temporarily for racing, and at other times, it’s open to the public. Plus, he has to take care of its maintenance."
Carson Flores expressed amazement, "Rich people sure play differently, spending a fortune to build a racing track for themselves. Talk about lavish!"
Camille Rhodes smiled, "He won’t lose out. He built the road, opened a betting ring to rake in the profits, and the spending by people who come to play here. He’s making a lot of money. Those bets aren’t small either."
Camille Rhodes parked the car, and the two headed to the restaurant.
By now, there were quite a few customers in the restaurant. Camille Rhodes smiled, "This place is membership-based, so the threshold isn’t too high. But it keeps the general public out. Only members and their guests can enter. Everyone you see here has come early for the race tonight."
Carson Flores noticed many people turning their heads to look at him, and a few greeted Camille Rhodes with respect, calling her "Sister Ying." He laughed, "Seems like you’re quite popular here."
Camille Rhodes snorted, "Even though I’m not one of the Four Young Masters of Seashore City, I am the sister of one and the young lady of the Rhodes Family. More importantly, I’m beautiful. As a rich and pretty young woman showing up in such places, it’s only natural for everyone to know me, right?"
They chose a spot to sit down, and just as the food was served and they were about to eat, a young couple walked in. The woman was clinging to the man’s arm, clearly lovers.
The woman was also very pretty, wearing a sexy hip-hugging dress and black stockings, dressed fashionably. Her gaze swept across the room and when she saw Camille Rhodes and Carson Flores, her eyes immediately brightened. She pulled the short-haired stylish man over towards them.
Camille Rhodes also saw them, and the corners of her mouth twitched slightly, muttering under her breath, "What bad luck, that vixen is here too!"
The woman came to the table, her eyes falling on Carson Flores, and a malicious smile appeared on her face, "Yo, Ying Ying, who is this handsome guy? Introduce me, will you?"
