Chapter 1471: Chapter 1471: Getting on in Years, Acting Like a Hot-headed Youth
Alchemists make good money; as long as they’re diligent, every furnace can produce Spirit Stones. However, becoming a top-tier Alchemist requires an astronomical investment in Spirit Stones.
The vast majority of Alchemists study new elixir formulas while using the ones they’ve mastered to refine elixirs for others in exchange for Spirit Stones. Then, they learn new formulas, buy ingredients, and practice repeatedly.
A hardworking Alchemist striving to improve their craft is almost always perpetually broke.
Refining low-level elixirs might cost one or two Spirit Stones, but high-level elixirs can cost tens of thousands, millions, or even tens of millions of Spirit Stones. How long would one have to work to earn the cost of a single batch of high-level elixirs?
"Bang!"
The furnace exploded!
A year’s hard work, gone in the blink of an eye—returning one to square one.
The rule of alchemy is eternal: "One elixir can bankrupt you!"
Carson Flores didn’t necessarily need to learn alchemy himself, but he believed that cultivating diverse skills never hurts. After all, the Immortal Path is boundless, and time is long—learning more is always a good thing.
For high-value and highly confidential elixirs like the Nine Revolutions Great Land Pill, self-refining is undoubtedly the most reliable approach. Not to mention, once he mastered alchemy, he could refine any Immortal Elixir or Heavenly Materials and Earthly Treasures he found without relying on anyone else.
As the two traveled onward, a Flying Boat suddenly approached from behind.
Carson Flores turned his head and spotted a middle-aged man on the Flying Boat. The man glanced at them with a disdainful expression before speeding past them.
Carson Flores tilted his head. "Fairy, did you see that? Was he looking down on us?"
Selah Ellison Fairy gave Carson a quick glance. "Feeling upset?"
Carson Flores laughed. "Not really upset, just found it kind of weird. He’s so old, does he think he’s some kind of rebellious teen?"
Selah Ellison Fairy asked curiously, "What’s a rebellious teen?"
Carson Flores explained with a grin, "There are some youths who love riding motorcycles, speeding, showing off their skills, and competing in races. They take pride in it, but honestly, it’s really annoying."
Selah Ellison Fairy chuckled lightly. "I like your attitude."
Carson Flores shrugged. "With my strength, I have to keep a low profile. Pursue him for a fight only to get beaten up in return? That would be truly embarrassing."
Selah Ellison Fairy raised her brows, a playful glint in her eyes as she placed her hand on the Flying Boat’s controls and channeled Spiritual Energy.
"Let’s go teach him a lesson!"
The Flying Boat’s speed surged dramatically, at least doubled from before, transforming into a ray of light and speeding forward in pursuit.
Soon, Carson Flores caught sight of the Flying Boat from earlier.
The distance shrank rapidly. The middle-aged man glanced back, and although his Flying Boat also increased in speed, it still couldn’t match theirs. The gap continued closing.
The middle-aged man steered his Flying Boat sharply, heading into a mountain range—likely realizing they weren’t easy to deal with and aiming to avoid them.
Selah Ellison Fairy sneered coldly. "Trying to escape now? Too late!"
The Flying Boat deftly turned and maintained its pursuit.
As their Flying Boat passed through the mountainside, the other Flying Boat was already suspended in mid-air. The middle-aged man stared at them with a smug expression, as if he were a hunter examining his prey.
"Something’s wrong!"
Carson Flores frowned, speaking in a low voice. "It looks like he deliberately lured us here..."
Selah Ellison Fairy responded calmly, "I noticed. We’ve barely left the Valley of Myriad Medicines and were already being followed. Likely reinforcements summoned by the Green Willow Sect."
Carson Flores asked, "Suspicious situations always have hidden dangers. Should we retreat for now?"
"We can’t."
Selah Ellison Fairy’s eyes gleamed with light as she scanned the surroundings, her expression unruffled. "We’ve already stepped into a Formation."
"Good observation!"
The middle-aged man barked coldly, "Activate!"
Following his command, Array Flags flickered among the surrounding mountain peaks, sword qi shot up to the skies, and white mist enveloped the area. Carson Flores’s vision quickly turned into a haze, reminiscent of the Mist Island in the Sea of Annihilation. Only extremely short distances were visible.
Carson Flores didn’t panic—after all, he had a top-tier powerhouse by his side.
Carson Flores spoke up, "You’re an accomplice of Nathanael Hinton from the Green Willow Sect?"
The middle-aged man chuckled coldly and spat out four words. "Green Lotus Fire Spring."
Carson Flores suddenly understood and shouted, "By the looks of it, you’re clearly far stronger than Nathanael Hinton! Previously, Maison O’Donnell was ambushed outside and nearly killed. Nathanael Hinton obviously didn’t have that ability; you must have been the one who made that move."
The middle-aged man sneered. "If he hadn’t been carrying a decent escape magical treasure, he’d already be dead by my hand. There wouldn’t have been any ’later’ at all. I had Nathanael Hinton retrieve the Green Lotus Fire Spring for me. You two decided to interfere, so don’t blame me for going all out."
Carson Flores asked casually, "Looks like we’re doomed here. Mind sharing your name so we can die a bit more informed?"
The middle-aged man laughed heartily. "Trying to probe my identity? You’re already in my Immortal Slaying Formation; there’s no escape for gods or ghosts. No harm in telling you—Supreme Elder Zhu Binhui of Supreme Heaven Sect..."
Carson Flores froze. This guy is from Supreme Heaven Sect!
The Supreme Heaven Sect and White Crane Immortal Sect are deeply antagonistic. Previously, Peak True Immortal Angelina Newman from Supreme Heaven Sect even tried to kill him, only for him to turn the tables and defeat her. That incident stirred quite the commotion afterward.
And now he’s just bumped into trouble with them again?
