Chapter 1245: Chapter 1245: Can You Take the Pie Drawn When Someone Desperate Sells Their Soul Seriously?

The Black Rhino Demon was dead.

As a Vanguard Officer, he had led the Demon Race Army to breach numerous cities, with countless lives and blood on his hands.

He had to die.

Carson Flores asked many questions, seeking to understand the current situation, yet he couldn’t unravel the doubts in his heart.

Had the Demon Emperor started the war because of Maggie Fitzgerald or her people?

How did he get involved with the Ten Thousand Ghosts Sect, granting them so much convenience? Could it be that they paid him with Blood Beads?

Was the attack launched by the Demon Race truly aimed at unifying the Barbaric Wilderness Realm, or was it simply to force him out?

This question, those around him could not answer.

"What do we do now?"

Carson gazed at the few women at the entrance of the tent, casting aside the myriad thoughts in his mind.

"First, send them back to the city, then look for the next army."

Carson’s eyes grew firm: "No matter what, since the fighting has started, it cannot stop."

Even if it were a trap, Carson was prepared to wade through it!

The enemy only knew that Cristopher Hopkins, resurrected, was by his side, but they didn’t realize there was also the Ghost Tower, powerful enough to suppress an Immortal’s Incarnation.

When it came to scheming, in the end, it was uncertain who was outwitting whom?

...

At the tri-junction of the Central Divine Continent, Eastern Emperor Province, and Easty Prefecture, demon energy surged to the heavens, countless members of the Demon Race encircling the not-so-tall mountain peak at the center.

On the mountain stood a massive metallic palace.

The Demon Emperor stood dutifully at the entrance of the palace, his brows furrowed.

The Demon Race Army had invaded the three prefectures for so long, yet why had Carson Flores not shown himself?

Did he truly not care about the life and death of the Human Race?

Wasn’t he the Human Emperor?

How could the Human Emperor sit idly by, indifferent to the survival of his people?

Or, was it because his strength was too low, knowing that coming forward wouldn’t do much good, so he simply chose to hide away, practicing in seclusion, waiting for a chance?

Wasn’t there an Immortal named Cristopher Hopkins by his side?

With an Immortal’s backing, what was there to fear?

He now felt a hint of fear in hindsight. He had once met Carson alone, and Carson had claimed he had enough power to capture him. He hadn’t believed it at the time, and even now, the thought still caused him to break out in a cold sweat.

He must have been considering his father, ultimately deciding not to use force and capture him outright, otherwise, he himself might now be a prisoner under Carson’s steps.

This brat, he actually saved an Immortal!

With an Immortal’s backing, no wonder he was so bold before!

No wonder when he had asked about the ultimate purpose behind his initiating the war, he had still been confused, yet now everything was clear.

Carson was inquiring whether there were Immortals behind him whether he was a pawn for Immortals!

A complex expression appeared on the Demon Emperor’s face, his previous response had been full of bluster, yet he had not anticipated that, a few months later, he would truly become a subordinate of an Immortal.

Though the other party had spoken to him politely, he understood very well that from the moment the other party appeared, he was no longer the Demon Emperor who stood above millions.

Even if the Immortal had not shown himself to others, even if he still held absolute authority among the Demon Race and was revered by all Great Demons, he knew that he was now merely an agent for the Immortal.

If he dared to rebel, he could be squashed in an instant, and they would replace him with someone more obedient in the position of Demon Emperor to continue the war until Carson and Cristopher emerged, until he achieved his goals.

To become an Immortal?

The Demon Emperor longed for it but dared not entertain the thought for too long.

He had been a superior, a leader, the kind that tempted others with promises in exchange for their lives; could such promises truly be taken seriously?

Wasn’t the most likely outcome that, once the cunning rabbit was dead, the loyal dog would be cooked, and once the birds were gone, the bow would be hidden away?

This feeling of having one’s life completely in someone else’s hands was far too unpleasant. How could someone as proud and arrogant as him feel at ease?

He didn’t want to think about it, yet he was powerless to resist.

It was infuriating!

"Report!"

A member of the Demon Race flew in swiftly, calling out loudly before kneeling at a distance away.

"Report, the vanguard led by General Black Rhino has encountered the Human Emperor. The Black Rhino General and ten Great Demons have all fallen in battle, and the vanguard has completely disbanded and retreated!"

The Demon Emperor’s eyes suddenly brightened: "The Human Emperor? Has Carson Flores shown himself?"

"Yes, Carson led four people brazenly attacking the vanguard. Among them, two were incredibly formidable, cutting down six Great Demons in the blink of an eye, as if entering a realm without enemies. The remaining Great Demons attempted to flee but failed, all perishing, their existence vanishing without a trace, none escaped!"

The Demon Emperor squinted his eyes: "And the other troops?"

"They have all disbanded. The Human Emperor did not pursue, rather he sent back a message..."

The Demon Emperor asked sternly, "What message?"

The reporting soldier hesitated, then still bowed his head respectfully and said, "Retreat to Easty Prefecture and I will spare your corpses."

The cold light flickered in the Demon Emperor’s eyes, he dismissed with a wave of his hand: "Alright, go."

After the reporter had left, the Demon Emperor turned and entered the massive palace, speaking to the empty surroundings of the great hall: "Carson Flores has appeared. Now what shall we do?"

A cold voice sounded abruptly in the hall: "Deploy the Great Witch to battle, draw out Cristopher. Leave the rest to us."
