Chapter 1003: Chapter 1003: Ling Yao, Essence Spirit

One of the Six Extreme Lands of the Savage Boundary, Eternal Mine Original?

Carson Flores’s eyes widened. He had just run from one of the Extreme Lands, the Valley of Death, crossed through void space, escaped for half a day, and now he had ended up in another Extreme Land of Easty Prefecture?

"Is this place where we are now considered an Extreme Land?"

The bearded man shook his head. "The Eternal Mine Original covers a huge area. The part known as the Extreme Land is actually the central region of the Eternal Mine Original, but it has a special name, the Eternal Tombfield."

"Although it’s often said that the Eternal Mine Original is an Extreme Land, the reality is that a large area on the periphery is safe, and only the central area—the Eternal Tombfield—is extremely dangerous."

Carson asked, "Are we being sent to mine? Are we mining in the safe peripheral area, or in the dangerous central area?"

The man replied with a bitter smile, "I heard it’s the central area. Due to their physique and intelligence, humans are more suited for mining than the Demon Race, so they have always captured and enslaved Human Cultivators to mine for them. I’ve heard that in the past two years, the mining rate by the Demon Race has increased substantially, hence their need for a large number of workers."

"There are hardly any humans left in Easty Prefecture, so they go to the highly chaotic Central Divine Continent to capture Cultivators. Even there, some human bandits rob others and then sell the captured Cultivators to the Demon Race..."

Carson, surprised, inquired, "Isn’t Central Divine Continent a territory of the Human Race, and isn’t it the most prosperous?"

The bearded man looked at Carson strangely. "Who told you that?"

Carson didn’t respond, but humbly asked, "Is it not so?"

The bearded man answered, "If you’re speaking of ancient times, then Central Divine Continent indeed was the most glorious region for humanity. However, ten thousand years ago during the war between the Human Race and the Demon Race, the ancient families were wiped out, and even the Emperor Sovereign Scripture that was guarded by them was seized by the Demon Race. After the great war, Central Divine Continent turned into ruins."

"Although the Human Emperor led the Human Cultivators to drive back the Demon Race, both the Human Emperor and the Demon Emperor eventually perished, leaving the land of Central Divine Continent chaotic, a place shared by both the Human and Demon Races."

"Over these ten thousand years, although the Demon Race has gradually withdrawn from the Central Divine Continent, it has always remained a lawless place, with Cultivators and members of the Demon Race mingling among bandits who roamed freely. Where is the glory of the old days to speak of?"

Carson suddenly understood.

So that’s how it was.

No wonder when he previously traveled to the True Dragon Secret Realm in Central Divine Continent by Flying Boat, he didn’t see any majestic cities, and everywhere appeared quite desolate.

"Big brother, how were you captured?"

The bearded man sighed, "I was a guard for a merchant caravan, but then we were attacked by ruthless bandits. The bandits took all our goods, killed all the ordinary people, and captured all the Cultivators, then sold them off. After changing hands twice, I ended up on this ship."

"I guess this lifetime is ruined. It’s said once you enter the Eternal Mine Original, you have to mine there until death. After all, to the Demon Race, we are not free individuals but slaves they have captured or bought."

When these three Great Demons leave, he’d find a chance to run away.

Before running, he’d find an opportunity to check where the Demon Emperor Heir currently was. Carson had a feeling that this rapid increase in the mining rate over the past year was related to the appearance of the Demon Emperor Heir.

"Right, we’ve talked so much about mining, but what exactly are we mining?"

Now used to Carson’s ignorance, the bearded man explained, "Essence Spirits, extremely pure substance that emits a white light when extracted, unparalleled in purity, hence the name. The Eternal Tombfield is known for producing this material."

"Essence Spirits?"

Carson immediately became interested, "Is this substance useful for Human Cultivators?"

"Of course, it’s not just useful, it’s extremely useful. But this is Demon Race territory, and Human Cultivators aren’t allowed in. In the mine, there are powerful Great Demons guarding it. Any Human Cultivator caught sneaking in is killed without mercy."

"Human Cultivators have thought about claiming it for themselves, but lack the strength to do so. Thus, they can only watch the Demon Race mine and enjoy the Essence Spirits on their own."

"The reason why the Demon Race is so powerful is inseparable from the contributions of the Eternal Tombfield, but after thousands of years of mining, the surrounding areas have been mostly depleted. Moreover, it’s said that the closer to the central area, the more abundant the Essence Spirits."

Carson’s interest deepened.

Essence Spirits, useful for Human Cultivators?

Although he was currently stuck at a bottleneck and didn’t need it for now, once he broke through, wouldn’t he need it then?

After all his troubles, he had also left quite a bit of True Dragon’s Blood for his older disciple sister Delaney Hunter to temper her Sword Bone and body, and now he didn’t have much left.

If he wanted to quickly advance his power, he would have to think of another way.

This Essence Spirit is definitely a good thing!

Carson once again changed his mind. Since he was being watched by three Great Demons now, there was still a risk in running away. He might as well go check out the minefield.

After all, he was now part of a mining crew, wasn’t he?

This situation felt all too familiar!

Just like when he secretly joined the team that mined the Water-Fire Mirror.

Being just a minor miner, he wouldn’t always be watched by several Great Demons. When the time came to escape, he would just take the opportunity to slip away unnoticed. If he could snatch some Essence Spirit along the way, that would be even better.

That’s decided then!
