Chapter 412: Chapter 416: Pen Fairy (15)
Shu Ya never expected that her actions would bring about a catastrophic disaster for the Little Ghost Baby.
Cheng Bin pretended to believe in the baby’s existence and even expressed his joy.
But as soon as he turned around, he tricked Shu Ya out of the house and then invited a Heavenly Master to come and try to capture the Ghost Baby.
Did they really think an Evil Ghost would be so easy to deal with?
It seemed that the minor disturbances caused by the Little Ghost Baby gave these people the illusion that subduing him would be an easy task.
During the first attempt, not only did the Heavenly Master fail to subdue the Ghost Baby, but he was also gravely scratched across the face by it. If Shu Ya hadn’t unexpectedly come back, the Heavenly Master might have lost his life to the Evil Ghost’s claws.
Shu Ya realized something was amiss, but under Cheng Bin’s sweet talk, she pretended not to feel the unease in her heart.
Cheng Bin had not anticipated how fierce the Ghost Baby was, and his desire to get rid of it intensified.
He invited an even more powerful Heavenly Master to confront the Little Ghost Baby.
As for Shu Ya, no matter how much she comforted herself by thinking Cheng Bin was acting in her best interest, she had once been the president of a large corporation, and when it came to non-romantic matters, her intelligence was up to standard.
Stripping away the filters she had placed on her husband, Cheng Bin’s actions were simply indefensible.
To say they were treacherous would not be an overstatement.
She convinced herself that her investigation was not from a lack of trust in Cheng Bin, but rather, it was to trust him more.
But her investigation revealed problems.
Cheng Bin believed he had full control of the company. Shu Ya had not meddled in company affairs for a long time, and having spent so long recuperating in the hospital, she found that all her loyal associates in the company had been replaced, and the household help at home had also changed.
Shu Ya was now like a tiger without its teeth, posing no threat whatsoever.
Some things were just not done carefully enough.
Holding the investigative results, Shu Ya felt her heart turn cold.
The husband she thought she knew was not the person she believed him to be.
Cheng Bin was not the child from the small mountain village he claimed to be. Before the age of five, he had been the son of a noble family until a major family crisis ensued—the bankruptcy of his family and his parents’ suicide—after which he was sent to his maternal family in the village.
All her encounters with Cheng Bin were long planned, and every romantic coincidence was meticulously designed by him.
Cheng Bin actually believed that his parents’ suicide and his family’s bankruptcy were because of Shu Ya’s father.
So he sought revenge.
But after Shu Ya’s parents died in an accident, a daughter inheriting her father’s debts was natural and just.
Cheng Bin changed his target to Shu Ya, biding his time to get close to her, marry her, and then, after she gave birth to a child, sold the child he did not acknowledge to someone else.
Because of Shu Ya’s trust, the Shu family’s company had already become his to claim.
He was just waiting to lay it all out before Shu Ya, to see her in agony.
Cheng Bin thought he had planned perfectly, never considering that the truth might not be what he had always believed.
He accidentally learned that Shu Ya’s father was innocent, and he had wronged no one.
All of it was just misplaced anger and jealousy from his maternal family... misdirected slander.
And before he learned the truth, his ex-girlfriend had already known the full story, but she chose to remain silent.
Then she watched as he unwittingly dug his own grave, committing acts that hurt Shu Ya.
She used this as leverage to threaten him into giving her half of the company shares.
Shu Ya never expected the person she loved to have such a deplorable side behind the scenes.
Once she was free from the bonds of emotion, Shu Ya was undoubtedly powerful.
Cheng Bin could never have imagined that, even in such a situation, Shu Ya could still turn defeat into victory.
Just when Shu Ya desired, the company he thought he controlled could instantly change hands.
Cheng Bin’s ex-girlfriend, who coveted shares in the Shu Family company, was sent to prison by Shu Ya using thunderous methods.
Only Cheng Bin himself, Shu Ya still couldn’t think of a method to deal with him.
Her child, whom she had carried with difficulty for ten months, was not sick; he was buried alive by her own husband.
But even after Cheng Bin had committed such a heartbreaking act, Shu Ya couldn’t make up her mind.
She loved him...
Even though she hated him for hurting their child, she still loved him.
Cheng Bin’s remorse and pain still managed to soften Shu Ya’s heart.
Yet, this moment of softness proved fatal for the little ghost baby.
---------------
The last hope shattered, Shu Ya emotionally collapsed.
Curses and rebukes came incessantly.
She blamed herself, hated Cheng Bin, and even grew to despise that noble who obviously could have helped.
Su Li was completely unaware that he was disliked by others, but even if he knew, he wouldn’t care.
Wasn’t all of this due to Shu Ya’s poor judgment of character?
And because her mind was blinded by love.
It was ridiculous for her to blame others for her own faults.
The car stopped outside the Shu Family’s grand mansion, and as Shu Ya stepped out, her face was a mask of grim resolve, showing no signs of weakness or helplessness.
Her eyes were as cold as ice shards, and her voice was chilling, "Where is Cheng Bin now?"
"He’s in the basement... President Shu, following your orders, we haven’t delivered any food to him for the past few days, just a bowl of water each day."
Shu Ya nodded, "I see."
If one looked closely, they could still find a flicker of pain in her eyes, but it was so brief that it seemed like an illusion.
Without letting anyone follow, Shu Ya walked alone into the basement.
The basement was dim and damp, with only one flickering, dim yellow light hanging from the ceiling to shed a faint glow.
The smell inside was unpleasant, a mix of mustiness with an odor of decay that was enough to make one retch.
On the room’s only metal bed lay a man.
If not for the rise and fall of his chest, one might have thought he was a corpse.
The sound of the door being pushed open made the man on the bed struggle to open his eyes weakly and glance toward the source of the noise.
Seeing the familiar figure, the man seemed to be infused with strength, bolting upright.
"Wife, you came."
"I know I was wrong, can you forgive me?"
"I was just, just too scared, scared you’d blame me when you found out the truth... it was all because I love you..."
Shu Ya looked at the man who had become so wretched in just a few days, feeling both pain and hate.
She said through clenched teeth, "You deserve to die, why did you hurt our baby?"
"You’ve already harmed him once, why did you do it a second time?"
Cheng Bin continued to make excuses, "You don’t know, that ghostly thing was only affectionate towards you... I could feel his hatred for me, and his murderous intent... If I hadn’t acted first, I would be the one dead."
Shu Ya’s expression wavered, she struggled for a moment, then shook her head, "No, I don’t believe it, I won’t believe a word you’re saying."
As if afraid that Cheng Bin’s words would influence her thoughts, Shu Ya fled in panic.
Seeing the unfeeling back of his wife, Cheng Bin suddenly revealed a ferocious expression, "What you are doing is illegal, unlawful imprisonment; I will sue you... let me out now."
