Chapter 285: Chapter 285: Remember, You Still Have Me

But there was one thing that didn’t make sense, Li San never let her "obey".

Li Qiao looked at her phone screen expressionlessly, heavy shadows lurking in her eyes.

She narrowed her eyes and redialed Li San, but no one answered.

Li Qiao instantly gripped the phone tight, without hesitation, and called Nan Xin directly.

Soon, Nan Xin’s voice, laced with mirth, came through. "Baby, he should have called you back by now, right?"

"He did," Li Qiao’s voice was low and emotionless, prompting an unconscious sigh of relief from Nan Xin.

Li Qiao quickly picked up on the relaxation in her tone, her gaze cooling as she got straight to the point, "There’s a batch of precision parts, have they been detained at the border?"

"Precision parts?" Nan Xin repeated in confusion, then slapped her forehead, "Those boxes of scrap metal are precision parts? What the hell is Ou Bai doing, starting to traffic parts now?"

Hearing Nan Xin’s mocking tone, Li Qiao didn’t ask further, she simply demanded, "Whether you let Ou Bai go is up to you, but the convoy transporting the precision parts needs to be released immediately. That’s not Ou Bai’s goods."

At this, Nan Xin paused, "Ah? It’s not his?"

"They must be released by two o’clock this afternoon," Li Qiao said, then hung up the call.

With a cool look, she returned to the private room to meet Qiu Huan’s expectant gaze and said indifferently, "Your goods will come out today."

"Fuck, really?" Qiu Huan exclaimed, his eyes wide in surprise.

Seeing Li Qiao nod, he immediately filled his eyes with a crazy admiration, "Girl, how are you so awesome?"

As he spoke, he banged the table and wanted to kiss her out of sheer fondness; she was just too impressive.

He hadn’t harbored much hope, but she had resolved the issue with the flick of a hand.

At that moment, Li Qiao glanced at him with a detached look, "Is there anything else, Master Qiu?"

Qiu Huan hastily shook his head and busily poured her more tea, pouring himself a cup as well. "Girl, instead of wine, let this tea express my gratitude. You are Qiu Huan’s lifesaver in this lifetime. If you ever need anything, just holler, and I’ll be there, no questions asked."

Li Qiao politely took a sip of tea, then turned to Shang Yu, "There’s an issue at the lab, I might need to head back first."

The man nodded, put out his cigarette, and stood up, "Let’s go, I’ll take you."

Seeing this, Qiu Huan pointed at the unfinished King crab on the table, "Girl, aren’t you going to eat some more?"

What responded to him was the sight of Li Qiao and Shang Yu’s disappearing figures at the doorway.

Qiu Huan was a beat too slow to react. By the time he went out to follow them, all that was left at the entrance of the seafood restaurant were the receding tail lights of a business van.

He cursed with a chuckle, not really minding.

He checked the time on his phone; it wasn’t even half-past twelve at noon. So, in just a few hours, his goods would be able to continue on from the border?

As he was thinking this, his phone rang.

When Qiu Huan saw the caller ID, he swore before answering. The person on the other end reported loudly, "Master Qiu, we’ve already come through the border. They didn’t give us any trouble. Moreover, they even sent a helicopter to take us to Myanmar..."

Afterwards, the caller sucked up with a barrage of flattery, but Qiu Huan didn’t take in a single word.

He looked towards the direction of the street, his gaze heavy, suddenly finding Li Qiao a bit terrifying.

At the border, did she have too much influence?

In less than ten minutes before and after, the people and goods he had detained were all sent out, and they were sent by helicopter at that.

You should know, that batch of parts was air-freighted to the border before being transported by land to Myanmar.

Because there’s air traffic control between Myanmar and the South Sea, direct flights are impossible.

All goods could only be transported by land, how extensive was Li San’s influence on the border that he could even use a helicopter to deliver goods across countries?

What kind of treatment is this?

...

Meanwhile, in the business van.

Li Qiao sat silently by the window, her dark deer-like eyes ink-splattered, devoid of any color.

Suddenly, warmth enveloped her, and as Li Qiao looked down with stiff eyes, she saw Shang Yu pull her hand gently prying open her palm.

The man smoothed her fingertips and lowered his head to see the cyan-purple marks left by her nails, his once clear-cut features gradually becoming stern, his voice low, "What happened?"

Li Qiao gathered herself, took a deep breath, then relaxed her furrowed brow, and without a word, collapsed into his embrace.

Shang Yu’s arm looped over her head, hugging Li Qiao’s shoulders closer to him, his tone laced with danger, "Are you going to tell me, or should I send someone to investigate?"

Li Qiao burrowed into his arms and muttered, "Hug me tighter first."

Shang Yu pressed the corners of his lips down as he looked at the head in his arms and tightened his hold reluctantly, waiting for the body in his arms to relax before he lifted Li Qiao’s chin with one hand, forcing her to look up.

As their gazes met, he said nothing and seized her red lips.

The young girl was emotionally unstable, and needed a distraction.

Liuyun, who was driving in the front row, and Luoyu, the copilot, kept their eyes forward, trying their best to ignore the kissing sounds coming from behind.

Liuyun contemplated, musing that one day he should renovate the car; a high-end business van like this should have a partition between the front and rear seats, shouldn’t it?!

When the kiss ended, Li Qiao kept her eyes closed while catching her breath in his arms, her fingers now loosened but had climbed onto his shirt, pulling out a few wrinkles.

The man wiped the corners of Li Qiao’s mouth with his fingertips and kissed her forehead, "Now tell me, what’s going on at the border?"

Li Qiao pursed her lips, then after calming her breath, she pressed her forehead against his neck, her voice regaining its composure, "I don’t know yet, but I suspect Li San is hiding something from me, so I need to go back and check."

It was either the border or Li San—her intuition told her something was up.

Shang Yu stayed silent, but looked up to the rearview mirror where Liuyun met his gaze with a knowing nod.

Before long, the business van stopped at the corner of the laboratory building.

Li Qiao bent to get out of the van, but before she could step out, Shang Yu pulled her back in with a tight grip on her arm.

Carried by momentum, she tumbled into his lap.

Shang Yu enveloped her waist with one arm and looped the other around the back of her neck, pecking her lips before whispering huskily into Li Qiao’s ear, "Remember, you have me."

Li Qiao’s heart skipped a beat, a tingling sensation spreading from her heart to her limbs.

She chuckled softly, looking straight at Shang Yu, mimicking his movements, her thumb and forefinger pinching his perfect jawline, "Boyfriend, don’t worry, I’ll certainly not hold back when I need you."

With that, she leaned in and lightly sucked on his lips, then pursed her mouth to wipe away the moisture at the edges of the man’s lips before blushing and stepping out of the car.

Shang Yu watched the automatic door close slowly, rubbing his thumb over his lips and leaning back, his eyes veiled with a smile.

Liuyun and Luoyu exchanged silent glances, then Liuyun grabbed two bottles of water from the storage box, tossed one to Luoyu, and they both simultaneously tilted their heads back to drink.

The car’s interior was unbearably stifling!
