Chapter 283: Trouble Befalls Li San

Chapter 283: Chapter 283: Trouble Befalls Li San

Hearing the voice, Li Qiao turned towards Shang Yu and saw his eyes droop slightly, as if conceding. She knew then that Qiu Huan hadn’t lied.

She stroked the teacup with an expressionless face, her gaze fixed on the surface of the cup, slightly puzzled, "Why would my Third Brother tamper with your goods?"

Do you two have some kind of grudge?

Li Qiao didn’t voice out this last question directly.

According to her understanding of Li San, he would not have touched the Qiu Family’s precision parts without good reason.

Moreover, those things weren’t even needed at the border.

At this moment, Qiu Huan looked at Li Qiao intently and asked very seriously, "Sister, don’t you think it’s more appropriate to ask your Third Brother about this question?"

Li Qiao glanced at him pensively and twirled the teacup, "If Master Qiu doesn’t tell the truth, then I might not be able to help."

"Ou Bai was also in the delivery team."

Qiu Huan heard the threat in Li Qiao’s voice, and quickly revealed the truth.

Li Qiao looked at Qiu Huan with a smile that wasn’t quite a smile, "Why is Ou Bai at the border?"

Feeling prickles on his scalp under her gaze, Qiu Huan slumped back into the chair resignedly, "Those parts were originally meant for export. Ou Bai knew the transport route would pass through the border, and said he was bored and wanted to go out for some air.

I—I damn didn’t know his idea of taking a stroll was a lie; actually, he went to the border to pick a fight with Li San.

Now, I can’t even get in touch with him, and I don’t know if that damned Li San might have offed him."

After speaking, Qiu Huan felt a chill at the back of his head and, lifting his eyes, met Li Qiao’s dark gaze; his heart tightened, and his eyelids twitched.

Had he just cursed Li San?

Although he hadn’t interacted much with Li Qiao, he was very aware that the young miss was fiercely protective.

And it was said that within the Li Family, she had the closest relationship with Li San.

Qiu Huan felt a bit of regret for speaking too rashly, and hurriedly drank the tea from his cup.

Then, his face turned red.

Damn, that’s hot, shit!

Li Qiao shifted her gaze away with a look that spoke volumes, glanced at her phone, then stood up and said to Shang Yu, "I’m going out for a bit."

"Hmm, don’t go far," the man’s deep voice cautioned, and Li Qiao nodded as she left the private room.

After she left, Qiu Huan couldn’t help but kick the leg of the table, his handsome face full of irritation, "Do you think Li San has lost his mind? Can’t he get over whatever small issue he had with Ou Bai?"

The problem is... if the two of them have a grudge, why mess with the mechanical factory’s goods?

Shang Yu’s deep-set features revealed no emotion, as he glanced at the anxious Qiu Huan with the corner of his mouth slightly raised, "If it was Ou Bai who initiated the trouble, then it’s no injustice for him to hold your goods."

Qiu Huan’s neck stiffened, and he glared at Shang Yu while trying to laugh it off.

His leg trembled, and leaning on the edge of the table, he said impatiently, "Shaoyan, whose brother are you really?"

Shang Yu looked deeply at him, took out a cigarette case nonchalantly, with long slender fingers placed a cigarette between his lips, lit it while his gaze was lowered, and then cast a sidelong glance at Qiu Huan, "Ask the kitchen to process the crab legs properly before bringing them in."

Qiu Huan licked his back teeth, no longer wanting to talk to him.

Ou Bai’s life was in danger, his goods were missing, and yet this man was still worried about having the kitchen prepare crab legs for his young lady.

Let’s end the friendship.

...

Outside the private room, around the hallway corner.

Li Qiao leaned against the wall, one leg bent in front of her, and dialed Li San’s number.

After three rings, the call connected.

But it wasn’t Li San.

"Baby?" Nan Xin’s saccharine voice was pleasant to the ear. Li Qiao glanced at the screen, confirmed she hadn’t dialed the wrong number, and asked indifferently, "Where’s my brother?"

Nan Xin chuckled, feigning anger, "You don’t want to chat with me?"

A hint of amusement flashed in Li Qiao’s eyes as she leaned back against the wall and patiently explained, "I need to talk to him about something. Let him take the call first."

After some rustling sounds from the other end of the line, Nan Xin’s voice came through, "Baby, unfortunately, he went out this morning and didn’t take his cellphone. If it’s not urgent, maybe you can call back later?"

"It’s urgent," Li Qiao casually threw out the words, leaving Nan Xin startled.

She covered the phone, turned her gaze to Li Cheng, who lay unconscious inside the tent, took a deep breath while biting her teeth, and said to Li Qiao with a slightly restrained laugh, "Then I’ll go find him and have him call you back later, okay?"

Li Qiao intuitively felt something was off but still accepted Nan Xin’s proposition, "Mhm, as soon as possible."

"Okay, I’m hanging up now."

Nan Xin hastily ended the call and slumped into a chair, her back drenched with cold sweat.

Li Qiao was not easy to deceive, and Nan Xin was already starting to worry about what excuse she would use to bluff her way through later.

Li San had been shot two days ago, and he still hadn’t woken up.

The bullet had hit the back of his head, fortunately without going through.

But even the best doctors at the border had seen him, and after repeated confirmations that there was no damage to vital areas, they were helpless as he remained unconscious.

Nan Xin was extremely anxious, sitting at the bedside, looking at Li Cheng. She curled her fingers twice and poked his shoulder, "Boss, did you hear that? Qiaoqiao called you. If you don’t wake up soon, I won’t be able to cover for you any longer."

How close Li Qiao and Li San were, she knew better than anyone else.

If Li Qiao found out about this, Nan Xin didn’t even dare to think about the consequences.

Nan Xin stared at Li Cheng for a long, long time, before finally getting up and leaving the tent.

At the entrance, two subordinates armed with machine guns saw Nan Xin and bowed respectfully, "Sister Xin."

Clothed in black combat gear, with a belt cinched at her waist, Nan Xin also highlighted her graceful figure.

Her gaze swept coldly around her as she said in a chilling voice, "Bring me the one surnamed Ou."

"Yes."

Within minutes, Ou Bai was escorted into the tent by two burly men, one on each side.

By that time, curtains had been drawn around the bed where Li Cheng lay, also concealing his pale, unconscious visage.

Nan Xin sat at the table in the center, casually hooking a small handgun in one hand, her head held high as she looked at the disheveled but arrogantly faced Ou Bai, "How do you want to die?"

Ou Bai shook off the restraint beside him and glanced at Nan Xin with scorn, "You think you can lay a finger on me?"

Though he had no power at the border, the South Sea Ou Family was not to be underestimated.

Confronted with Ou Bai’s bluster, Nan Xin held back again and again, but couldn’t contain the fury in her heart. She suddenly stood and landed a sidekick on Ou Bai’s stomach.

Caught off guard, he clutched his belly and grunted in pain, "Ugh, fuck..."

Nan Xin’s gun was pressed directly against his temple, her hand grasping his shirt collar, her anger evident as she spoke emphatically, "You better pray he’s alright, otherwise, I’ll blow your brains out."

Ou Bai’s face turned ghostly pale, his eyes crimson as he looked up at Nan Xin, bending forward with a sneer, "He’s not dead yet?"

Nan Xin took a deep breath, the butt of the gun smashed against Ou Bai’s jaw, instantly breaking skin, and blood trickled down his chin to the ground.

At that moment, Nan Xin grabbed his hair and whispered softly in his ear, "Don’t rush, even if you have to die, you’ll have to die before him."

Indeed, there was reason for Nan Xin’s rage.

Because Li Cheng’s accidental injury was due to being dragged down by Ou Bai.
