Chapter 68: Ah, the sea... my favorite
He tumbled across the uneven, gravel-strewn path the car had been driving on just moments before, protecting only his face and head from getting injured. Yoon Seoyul followed seconds later, dropping down from the dangling car door. He didn’t bother to roll or brace himself, simply landing flat on his back like it was a mattress—not hard earth beneath him—without a care.
As the last person, she hesitated, but since both of them had left her, she had no choice but to follow suit. Squeezing her eyes shut, she crumbled into a ball, falling onto a particularly dirty part of the ground.
Cheon Areum sat up, wiping down his clothes as the abandoned car drove straight into a brick wall, rupturing it as the bricks fell on the car as a celebration. Good thing the car didn’t explode or anything like that, and the driver—who looked as fine as a living person would be from the exterior—exited the car with the same expression on his face as he waved back at them.
"Gentlemen, please follow me. I’ll show you the beach."
His voice carried all the way over to Cheon Areum, sitting on the earth with a strange and unimpressed glance to the middle-aged man. Too lazy to get up, Cheon Areum used his abilities to manipulate the land to lift him upwards, and that was how he was back on his feet in no time.
"Get up. The scenario is still ongoing. You can still save it."
Cheon Areum poked Yoon Seoyul’s legs with his shoes, urging him to stop shooting arrows at him from his eyes.
"I can never guess what you’re going to do next inside the gates. It’s like freeing a wild and overpowered monster into another cage of weaker monsters."
"Who are you calling a monster? You’re the one carrying beast attributes with you."
Walking together toward the female lead, who seemed really upset about the filth on her branded clothes, Cheon Areum replied before patting Yoon Seoyul’s pants zipper and walking ahead of him.
"Are you doing alright? Need help?"
"Ar—I mean, shouldn’t we be bringing another change of clothes into these gates?"
Raising an eyebrow at the peculiar inquiry, Cheon Areum extended a hand for Lee Nari. She blinked up at him with wide eyes, taking the hand.
"Don’t forget to bring an extra pair of undergarments too if you are here for a good time."
"Oh...."
"Areum. What does that mean?"
Creeping behind him, Yoon Seoyul asked. Cheon Areum lifted on his toes as he covered his mouth and whispered into his ear. Yoon Seoyul immediately turned to him with a bewildered expression, trying to believe that what he had just heard did indeed come from Cheon Areum’s mouth.
Acting so taken aback after performing so passionately last night—Cheon Areum shook his head in disappointment. Well, if he was going to do it in the dungeon with Yoon Seoyul, he should definitely bring a change of underwear because before they even got to the fun part, Cheon Areum would already be drenching his bottoms. Being an omega wasn’t easy at all.
The middle-aged man, who had been waiting by the car, led them down a winding street that opened up to a small, quiet beach. The dungeon’s location appeared to be set in a quaint coastal town, its charm wrapped in rows of bright, pastel-colored buildings with a few tiled rooftops and sun-bleached walls. The salty sea breeze carried the scent of old wood and drying nets. Though the streets were mostly empty, a few elderly residents shuffled past them, giving weirdly curious glances. Judging by the stillness and the absence of bustling activity, the entire town couldn’t have had more than a few thousand people.
"The beach might not be as extravagant as the other beaches, but since we rarely get any tourists coming to this town, our beach has preserved most of its nature, which you don’t get to see easily these days."
The middle-aged man began talking like a guide as he gestured proudly toward the shore, specifically pointing out the single palm tree standing resiliently in the sand.
"The view of the colors is way more vibrant if you stand on the dock over the sea."
Standing at the end of the wooden dock, the middle-aged man beckoned them over with a wave. As they stepped onto the edge beside him, the salty wind brushing past their clothes, he turned his gaze toward the horizon. The vibrant buildings—painted in pastel shades of pink, blue, and yellow—rose from the gentle slope of the town overlooking the sea. The man crossed his arms over his chest and stroked his chin like a proud artist admiring his completed masterpiece.
"It’s a miracle we don’t get a rush of tourists wanting to come here. If they could see this, we would have way more meat to feed the younger population."
"I wouldn’t really like to visit again."
Lee Nari somehow managed to wedge herself into the sliver of space between Yoon Seoyul and Cheon Areum, her shoulder brushing against both of theirs. The dock, narrow and weather-worn, suddenly felt crowded—cramped with just the four of them standing side by side, shoulder to shoulder.
Cheon Areum turned with some difficulty, crouching down at the edge of the dock. The sea stretched endlessly before him, the waves gently lapping at the wooden posts beneath. He leaned closer, peering into the clear, shifting waters below—searching for any sign of monsters lurking beneath the surface too, or if it was only the land holding the monsters.
The stiff leather of Lee Nari’s high-heeled boot jabbed against Cheon Areum’s side as he crouched, already uncomfortable from the tight space. With casual annoyance, he raised a hand and nudged her leg back to give himself some room. But before he could fully straighten, a sudden force pressed firmly between his shoulder blades. His balance tipped instantly. Cheon Areum plunged straight into the cold sea below, the water swallowing the sound of the splash as quickly as it came.
