Chapter 1798: Chapter 1895: Maplewood Alchemy Court

In the Maplewood Alchemy Court, there’s a distinction between the inner and outer courts.

Disciples from the nine branch halls who haven’t reached the Five Cauldrons Pill Refiner level can only learn the Alchemy Tao in the outer court, while those who have achieved the Five Cauldrons level can enter the inner court and access deeper insights.

Fang Lin arrived at the Maplewood Alchemy Court with several people from the White Phoenix Hall, and under the envious gazes of many outer court disciples, they directly entered the inner court.

"That person seems to be the recently famous Lin Erdan."

"I’ve heard of him. A new disciple directly became a Five Cauldrons Pill Refiner. Truly impressive."

"It sure is impressive, though his name is quite funny."

"What’s the matter with that? A name is just a label after all. True experts don’t care about such things."

"Indeed, in my hometown, there’s a master named Li Tudog, and he has Immortal cultivation."

...

The range of the Maplewood Alchemy Court is vast, especially the area of the inner court, which is more than twice the size of the outer court.

Walking with the White Phoenix Hall disciples while hearing their descriptions of the Maplewood Alchemy Court, Fang Lin was somewhat absent-minded.

He was extremely familiar with the Maplewood Alchemy Court and needed no introduction; he could find his way even if he closed his eyes.

After all, Fang Lin had visited this place countless times in his previous life.

Strolling through the inner court, he could smell a faint, elegant fragrance, similar to pill fragrance but not purely pill fragrance, which uplifted the spirit and refreshed the mind.

"Junior Brother Fang, there are a few places in the inner court which we disciples must not go," a young man walking ahead of Fang Lin said.

Fang Lin smiled and asked, "Which places might those be? I hope Brother Zhou can tell me in detail so that I don’t accidentally stray somewhere unwise."

Brother Zhou nodded and said, "The first place goes without saying; it’s the residence and pill refining area of the dean. No disciple can approach, and even elders of the palace must seek permission to enter."

Fang Lin hummed in response, actually knowing which places in the Maplewood Alchemy Court were restricted, but he had to pretend to seek advice now.

Brother Zhou continued, "The second place is the Heaven Pill Tower, where our Pill Saint Palace’s most formidable pill refiners gather day and night to research the Alchemy Tao. Many new pill formulas have been developed there."

"I see," Fang Lin expressed with an astonished look.

Seeing Fang Lin listening attentively, Brother Zhou felt quite proud and gained more goodwill toward Fang Lin, saying further, "Another place is the Star Moon Spring. The spring water is excellent for pill refining and is unique to our Pill Saint Palace. It’s the most strictly guarded place. Approaching without good reason might result in immediate execution."

"Hearing Brother Zhou say this, I’m quite curious about the Star Moon Spring and would love to see it," Fang Lin grinned.

Brother Zhou was startled and immediately glared at Fang Lin: "Don’t speak recklessly! The Star Moon Spring isn’t a place for us to visit. Be sensible, don’t entertain thoughts you shouldn’t have, or if you cause trouble here, even the Hall Master might not be able to help."

Fang Lin nodded repeatedly, looking like he understood.

During these times together, the White Phoenix Hall disciples had become quite familiar with Fang Lin, with none bearing hostility toward him and no incidents of senior disciples bullying new ones. The atmosphere was entirely harmonious.

Experiencing this peaceful atmosphere frequently, Fang Lin couldn’t help but reflect on the many chaotic situations within later sects, such as disciples banding together against each other or superiors oppressing subordinates—these occurrences were commonplace.

In the Pill Saint Palace, such incidents were rare, and if they occurred, the Law Enforcement Hall resolved them promptly.

Especially regarding the repression of disciples, the Law Enforcement Hall was ruthless. If it happened, they employed severe measures to address it, even having the authority to remove a hall master from his position if they were culpable.

Many disciples from other branch halls went in and out of the inner court, and their hall affiliations could be determined by the emblems they wore, such as the delicate White Phoenix badges Fang Lin and his companions wore, marking their identity as White Phoenix Hall disciples.

"Lin Erdan!" At this moment, a somewhat familiar voice sounded nearby, and Fang Lin turned to see Song XiaoRou.

Currently, Song XiaoRou wore a Kylin Hall badge and disciples’ robes, looking poised and cheerful.

Fang Lin also smiled but felt somewhat bewildered inside. He had thought that after Song XiaoRou entered the Pill Saint Palace and met more outstanding pill refiners, she’d gradually forget about him.

But unexpectedly, she still remembered him, and Fang Lin didn’t want to get entangled with her in unclear relations, as he was burdened with heavy responsibilities here.

"Junior Brother Fang, I didn’t expect you’d know a junior sister from the Kylin Hall," Brother Zhou teased from the side.

Fang Lin chuckled, saying nothing.

Song XiaoRou approached, properly cupped her fists toward those around Fang Lin, and Brother Zhou and others returned the gesture, then tactfully stepped away.

"Why haven’t you come to Kylin Hall to find me?" With others gone, Song XiaoRou complained to Fang Lin.

Fang Lin scratched his head: "Busy cultivating, and I’ve encountered some troublesome matters."

Song XiaoRou seemed to have heard about the recent incident where Fang Lin was interrogated by the Law Enforcement Hall, expressing indignation: "That Cheng Qingyu is unreasonable, targeting you like that."

Fang Lin said: "No worries, it’s merely a misunderstanding."

Song XiaoRou wanted to say more, but Fang Lin quickly interjected: "I have things to attend to, so I won’t talk to you now."

After speaking, he promptly ran off.

Song XiaoRou was momentarily stunned and then nearly jumped in anger.

...

Nothing happened at the Maplewood Alchemy Court, nor did Fang Lin encounter Cheng Qingyu, who constantly worried him, for several consecutive days.

Until half a month later, while Fang Lin was cultivating at his residence, someone suddenly came to visit.

Fang Lin initially assumed it was Song XiaoRou, but unexpectedly, it was Cheng Qingyu.

"What are you here for?" Fang Lin asked Cheng Qingyu without much change in tone.

Cheng Qingyu transmitted her voice saying: "If you wish to know the true purpose of my coming to this era, meet me at the No. 13 Pill Refining Room in the inner court of the Maplewood Alchemy Court."

After speaking, Cheng Qingyu turned and left.

Fang Lin frowned. What does this woman mean? Can’t she speak directly here?

Soon, Fang Lin became cautious, suspecting this might be another of her schemes to trap him.

PS: Fourth update is here. This week, I won’t be going for a massage. For one thing, my neck is temporarily fine, and secondly, I’m really too lazy to go; it takes more than an hour round trip and is truly inconvenient.
