Chapter 51: 051 Director Qin Who Kills the Goose That Lays Golden Eggs (Looking for Likes and Recommendations)

As the two highest-ranking figures of the Second Hospital appeared, the medical staff of the Emergency Department all respectfully offered their greetings. Once the patients heard that they were hospital leaders, they also made way.

Chen Zhenxing took in the scene, his eyebrows furrowing slightly.

Currently, the Second Hospital had two crucial tasks: one was the standardized training program for resident physicians, and the other was the renovation of the Emergency Department.

The training program could be implemented gradually, but the Emergency Department’s renovation was urgently needed.

Li Mingwu was the Vice Director primarily responsible for medical affairs. After Chen Zhenxing mentioned it to him, they both felt it was necessary to visit the Emergency Department in person. Their daily schedules were quite packed, making it impossible for them to have a detailed grasp of every department.

Upon arriving at the Emergency Department, they found medical staff and patients gathered in a crowd, which was clearly not a good sign.

Seeing these two big shots, Liu Banxia was startled. Liang Xiaolin also reacted, quickly pulling her hand from Liu Banxia’s grasp, her expression tightening.

"Chief Director, Vice Director Li, sorry for the disturbance. A small issue arose in the Emergency Department. I’m handling it, and we’ve already reached an understanding with the patient," Qin Hai said, walking over and reporting seriously.

He was ecstatic inside. What timely arrivals! This time, he could clear his name and show that he wasn’t biased against Liu Banxia—it was Liu Banxia’s actual incompetence.

"I just overheard. Why are you insisting on giving the patient an MRI with contrast?" Chen Zhenxing asked.

Qin Hai glanced smugly at Shi Lei and Liu Banxia, feeling quite pleased.

"Chief Director, I believe it would be unfair for Dr. Shi or me to explain. When Tang Hongbing was first admitted, Dr. Liang helped change his medication. It would be best for Dr. Liang to explain," Liu Banxia proposed earnestly.

Qin Hai shot him a disdainful look.

He knew what Liang Xiaolin was like, but he didn’t care at the moment. Dealing with the facts, even if Chen Zhenxing wanted to show favoritism, he would have to discipline Liu Banxia today.

Liang Xiaolin, who had been pointedly looking away, couldn’t help but glare at Liu Banxia upon hearing his words. That guy, how can he be so rotten, pushing her to the forefront again? It was the same when she confronted Chen Hongyang in Pediatrics. Now, confronting Director Qin, is he pulling the same stunt?

"Liang Xiaolin, please explain," Chen Zhenxing instructed.

"Uh... actually, the patient exhibited symptoms of mouth twitching and nystagmus," Liang Xiaolin said hesitantly, after a furtive glance.

"What? Why didn’t you mention this earlier?"

Upon hearing this, Qin Hai grew anxious.

He obviously knew what those symptoms indicated. To be safe, even if the CT scan was normal, an MRI with contrast would still be necessary. That was the correct procedure. Damn it, I fell right into their trap!

No wonder Liu Banxia and Shi Lei had insisted. This was the proper course of action.

"Uh... Director Qin, I didn’t get a chance to say," Liu Banxia said, feigning surprise.

"Just now, I was also wondering if I was overreacting. I was reflecting on my actions. After all, I nearly committed overtreatment with Wang Mingxing last time. This time, although I had the patient’s best interests in mind, I acknowledge I might have gone too far."

His attitude was incredibly sincere, so much so that Liang Xiaolin, listening nearby, couldn’t help but roll her eyes.

This guy is just too much, pulling the same tricks again! No wonder he didn’t let me speak earlier. Eh? Did he take advantage of me again just now?

The young lady’s thoughts were all over the place; initially focused on the issue between Liu Banxia and Qin Hai, now they had drifted to her own predicament.

The onlookers, particularly the medical staff, needed no further explanation. With the situation so clear, how could they not draw their own conclusions?

And the other patients? Although they didn’t understand the medical issues, they understood human nature and social cues. The director, who had been speaking with such righteous conviction moments ago, was now so flustered. It seemed this young Dr. Liu was in the right, wasn’t he?

Tang Hongbing was the most panicked. He looked pleadingly at Qin Hai, "Director, do I really need an MRI?"

What could Qin Hai say? Despite his reluctance, he could only nod.

"Hmm, the situation is clear. Director Qin was also worried about affecting our Second Hospital’s image; it’s just that his understanding of the matter wasn’t thorough enough," Chen Zhenxing noted.

"Our Second Hospital is also people-oriented. I trust that the decisions made by any of our admitting doctors are made with the patients’ best interests at heart.

"At this time, I promise everyone that the various medical malpractices that have occurred in our industry will not happen in our Second Hospital. We accept the supervision of all segments of society and will severely punish any such issue discovered."

"Great!" Liu Banxia yelled, then led the applause.

The other patients were also deeply moved. At least today’s incident truly showed consideration for the patient. If this were elsewhere, if you didn’t want a test, you wouldn’t get it; there certainly wouldn’t be such an argument.

Then, following Liu Banxia’s lead, the onlookers applauded enthusiastically.

Liang Xiaolin glanced at Liu Banxia somewhat gloomily. Seeing that even Qin Hai was reluctantly clapping, she figured she shouldn’t just stand by either.

"Thank you all for your understanding and support." Chen Zhenxing made a gesture as if to quiet the applause.

"Now, the most important thing is to conduct further examinations for this patient. Liu, since he is your patient and this little episode occurred, you and Liang Xiaolin take him for the tests."

"Chief Director, rest assured, we’ll go right away," Liu Banxia said, nudging Liang Xiaolin.

Liang Xiaolin glared at him but had no choice but to follow him and take Tang Hongbing for the tests.

"Director Qin, please show Vice Director Li and me around the Emergency Department. We usually don’t pay enough attention to it. This is our neglect," Chen Zhenxing said with a smile.

Qin Hai’s heart thumped. It was his worst fear realized. He had been hoping to cruise peacefully through his final years before retirement, and possibly get a half-level promotion. Is the hospital really going to overhaul the Emergency Department?

Despite this worry, he put on a smile and led Chen Zhenxing and Li Mingwu on a tour of the Emergency Department.

"Shi, this time Banxia really upset Old Qin," Zhou Li said with some concern.

"No problem. Director Qin is being too unreasonable now. He tries to crush Banxia at every opportunity," Shi Lei replied with a laugh.

"That kid, don’t let his casual appearance fool you; he’s actually quite sly. But what’s going on between him and Liang Xiaolin? I always feel something’s off."

Zhou Li chuckled. She vividly described the earth-shattering and dramatic scene in the resuscitation room when the two first met.

Upon hearing this, Shi Lei didn’t know what to say. He was quite amazed; perhaps this is what they call ’enemies are fated to meet.’

Though that was just a thought, he still admired Liu Banxia for how carefully he had observed the patient’s subtle facial expressions today and made an accurate judgment.
