The Dragon Queen and her mates.
Chapter 99: Why ask questions?

Chapter 99: Why ask questions?

"Am I in trouble?" asked Cian as he carefully strapped back his smile but Bree wasn’t fooled, she could see through a fake smile and a real one in just one glance after all how many times has she faked a smile? She immediately cottoned on to what Cian was doing and simply hummed before sitting upright in her seat.

Bree folded her arms and looked at Cian who was smiling brightly like a sun despite sporting an ugly bruise on his face. " I was hoping that I will be able to speak with you."

Cian could almost feel a lecture coming, so he tried to divert the topic to the best of his ability. " About what exactly?"

She tilted her head and raised a brow. " Are you sure that you have no idea what this is about?"

Cian blinked his eyes and then slowly arched his brows. " Now, are we playing the game of guessing?" He nodded with a hum while tapping his chin with his forefinger. " Let me guess, your majesty are you here because I shoved an entire sack of garlic and silver cross in the second consort’s palace? If so, I am not going to apologise, nuh uh. It was him who started it first by throwing dried fishes in my carefully looked after pond. He totally deserved that you have no idea, all my fishes including the golden nymph light died."

Golden nymph light was the rarest among the nymphs, it was said that she was hard to catch and with her small size a body that glimmered like gold, she was a rarity even among the shifters’ society.

It was no wonder that Cian was mad at Ahmar.

" I know that your majesty is a bit sweet towards second consorts these days but, I think that I am not the one in the wrong." He muttered under his breath though he made no attempt to lower his voice.

" No, it’s not about that," said Bree quite surprised that the consorts fought among themselves as if they were little kids. " Thought, I am surprised that you guys are going through so much strife. I am not here because of that, you are probably right if second consort was the one who pushed your buttons then he had it coming as well. I am here because——-"

" Okay then I got it, your majesty," said Cian with narrowed eyes. " You are here because I snuck into the third consort palace and stole his favourite soft toy with the stupid face of Frankenstein the third and charred it into a furnace?"

" No, that’s not either."

That evil face Blaise actually slept with a soft toy? Though a scary one with a horrible face plastered to it but still a soft toy?

Cian snapped his fingers. " Oooh, I get it... you are here because I flooded that stiff-faced palace with water to clean up the muck?"

Bree’s lips twitched but she somehow thinned them as she sternly looked at Cian and said, " He has a name and if you don’t want to call him by his name then the least you can do is call him first consort, and I wouldn’t call flooding someone’s palace with water as cleaning muck."

He shrugged. " I was just trying to be helpful since he called me a useless boy toy."

Bree sighed. " Cian, you know what I want to say don’t you?"

" No, I don’t...I have no idea what you are talking about," he said without even batting an eye. Bree was sure that if she wasn’t the one who watched him sneak inside his own palace from outside she was sure he would have had her fooled in no time.

She unfolded her arms and crossed her legs. " Oh, maybe you can tell me where you were in the middle of the night?"

Though she had a very good idea of where Cian went, it was often mentioned in the book that he would go to the guild where he used to work and have a fun time every once in a while. She was sure that he went there after escaping from the palace, and she really didn’t want to know what he did for him to get this injured, she would rather have him keep the gooey details with him.

" Oh, that..." was all Cian said as he took off the big red strip of cloth that was tied around his waist.

"yes that," Bree looked at him with a stern expression as she repeated. " Where were you? And why did you leave the palace?"

It wasn’t that she was interested in knowing what Cian did, she was only letting him know that she had caught his tail so he better be obedient in front of her from now on.

But who was Cian? He was the assassin that was very carefully chosen by the Bellion Empire, if he would gurgle out his secrets so easily then what kind of assassin was he? He sensually and with a detached movement of his hips, he walked towards Bree, a sly smile curling his lips.

He stopped in front of her chair so that she was able to smell the scent of the ocean from him before he leaned in closer and whispered with a seductive touch to his voice. " What are you doing, your majesty? Didn’t you like wasting your time with me? Just ask me to strip and I will, I am your lap dog didn’t you say that?"

Bree suddenly felt uncomfortable after hearing Cian’s words, no matter what kind of person he was what was the dragon queen doing calling him a lap dog? Was she out of her mind?

He was her mate and could be considered her husband and she called him a dog.

" Or maybe you want me to take the lead this time," because she was lost in her thoughts, Bree didn’t realise that Cian has gotten quite close to her face, his lips were almost grazing hers. " If that’s what you want then, I will do as you wish my queen." With that, he leaned in closer to press his lips upon hers.
