Salt air breeze filtered its way towards Bree, causing her to pause briefly at the entrance of Cian palace, kissing her skin with welcoming caresses. Unlike the other consorts, his palace was surrounded by a lake that had a long, cobblestone path made in the middle of it that joined the entrance door to the palace, one glance at Bree was able to see that it was a beautiful place—— medieval castle surrounded with a deep lake, it would have been a perfect spot to come and rest if only the owner of the palace wasn’t a crazy killer.

Cian Testa, he was as dangerous as he was beautiful, in the book it was often described that even though Cian dropped his title as the ace killer after he became the consort of the Dragon queen but in the book, it was often mentioned how he used to kill anyone who would go against Harley and none of his methods was what could be said as less than cruel. A shiver ran up her spine when she remembered the contents of the book and immediately shook her head to get rid of the image that flashed in her eyes, she was already here and if she wanted to make progress then she needed to act as fast possible without getting entangled with Cian anymore.

Because honestly, she wouldn’t like being locked in a water-filled basement with piranhas swimming.

Bree rolled her shoulders back and shoved the fear that was bursting in her system, ignoring the curious look from Dion, she picked up her way to the palace. Her pulse started ticking at the base of her neck as she got closer and closer to the entrance of the palace and then suddenly she felt like her mouth has dried up even more than a desert. And when she drew closer to the guard of the palace she was able to smell the faint scent of seawater, meditative waves and aquatic accord, which meant that he was someone from the Bellion Empire which would explain why he smiled at her in a really kindly manner. As in, explain why are you ruining my mood in the middle of the night?

Not for the first time, Bree wondered whether her subjects really had any respect for her or not because whatever this was it was anything but respectful.

She moisten her dried mouth and looked at the guard with a blank expression. Come on! You just need to say that you are here to see Cian what’s the matter with you?

" Umm..." oh wow? Umm? Why not just say I beg you to let me see him? That was such a filler word...God!

Bree mentally took out the shovel and started to dig for the girl who was brave enough to hold the court a few days ago and when she was almost on the verge of starting to think that it was her anger that caused her to face those old men, she raised her head and then looked at the guard in the eye. " I am here to see Cian, would you mind announcing my arrival?"

" Please wait here your majesty," he said before running inside the palace leaving Bree outside as she turned to look at Dion with a confused expression on her face. " Is that the protocol these days? Leave the Queen hanging outside the door?"

Dion simply shrugged as he answered politely, " I have never been able to understand the consorts, your majesty."

The guard who left Bree behind rushed straight to Jesse who was worryingly pacing in Cian’s bedroom, waiting for his master to return. His gaze flicked to the magical wall clock that was hovering over the top of the room—- almost ten in the night. His master said that he would be back before midnight, there were two more hours and Jesse was already on the verge of losing all his hair by tugging them off his head, this had to be the most dreadful night for him, if by any chance anyone found out that the fourth consort snuck out of the palace then it will be him who would have to say goodbye to his head.

Just as he was wondering whether he should go and search for his master, the door of the bedroom burst open and in came rushing the guard.

" What are you doing? Even if the master is not here you can’t just barge in here..." Jesse frowned as he began to chid the guard but that guard just flipped his words to a side and said, " There is no time for you to scold me like this Jesse, the Queen is here and she is asking to see master Cian, what should we do now?"

" What did you just say?" With a completely stupefied expression, Jesse looked at the guard and then he placed his hands on the shoulders of the guard as he said, " Please tell me that this is a joke right? You are joking?"

However, his hopes were deemed to fail as the guard shook his head and said, " I am not lying, the Queen is here and she is asking for master Cian, you tell me what are we supposed to do——"

The guard didn’t have the chance to finish what he was saying because Jesse threw him to one side like literally shoved him to one side and rushed out of the room to see whether the guard was speaking the truth or not and what he saw nearly made him pass out in terror.

It was true the Queen was here!

Now, what will happen to him?

Dragging his fingers down his face, Jesse dropped to his knees as he moaned, " This is the end of the world, everything is going to be destroyed and I am going to lose my head!"

The guard watched his dramatics before glancing at the clock and saying, " If you are done, can you tell me what are we supposed to do?"

" What do you want me to do?" spreading his hands wide, Jesse stared at the guard with an enraged expression. " What am I supposed to do? Tell the Queen that master has snuck out of the palace?"

" Who snuck out of the palace?"
