He sighed before taking a long sip to disguise his nervous laughter at the presence of the man opposite him. " What now brother? Don’t tell me that you came rushing to see me first thing as soon as you landed in the Empire? That will surely make my heart go jittery. Or are you here to do an intervention? If so you are a bit late don’t you think?"

It wasn’t that he has never seen his brother look so disgruntled before, he has. Of course, he has especially when his eldest brother was with him, their father was a merman and mother siren—— a love story who nobody knew how it came to fruition but somehow it did. For a few years, their family was a happy one, until their father was lost in the sea, no one knew what happened to him but their father was gone and his eldest brother Orman had to take over. Everything would have been nice if not for his brothers being subjected to the disdain that the sea creatures had for the sirens, even their mother wasn’t taken by the three oldest son of hers. If they couldn’t bring themselves to respect their mother like they were supposed to do, how will they respect him? Their little brother of all people.

Oh but that didn’t mean that his eldest brother didn’t care, he did in his own way. He will clean his mess after him but that was only after he was done chiming about how much of a useless creature’s sirens were—— just lovely.

" No, it’s not an intervention, you don’t have to worry," said his brother as he adjusted his tie that was wrapped around his collar. Cian never understood why his brother even tried, they were creatures of the sea, all right? They could never be bounded by anything especially these fussy things called suit and tie, look at him he was fine with his chiton and chlamys, it gave him a god breeze around his body and boy if it did not feel good. Orman too tried to let the stupid tie thingy stay where it was until he took it off altogether and placed it on his thigh, Cian took another sip to make himself stop from snorting again because that will be disrespectful all right. " I wouldn’t have to come if you only answered my letters, I have heard what happed from Misu about what happened between you and the Dragon Queen, and if you don’t answer my question correctly I might have to stage one."

If he wasn’t interested in Cian then he should just leave him alone but Misu, that was to say his second brother was as nosy as always. " Does he tells you how many times I piss or shit as well? I mean this kind of violation of privacy is something that I do not respect tell him to stay away and call back his spies or else the next time I return home, I will make sure that he will be walking around everywhere in nothing but his birthday suit."

This marked the seventeenth time his brother has pissed him off in just one week. At first, he tried to ignore it but now his second brother was just trying to piss him off with his usual nosing, especially now that he has lost the favour of his wife—— Had he ever given the impression that he wasn’t capable of taking care of his brother on his own? If so, it must have been because he was drunk and was feeling too frisky to care about his stupid second brother.

Cian popped his jaw and licked the wine that was dripping down his lips with his tongue. " And an intervention is not necessary all right?" He shrugged sipping the wine that was in his hands. " I have already told mother, only if you would have listened to her carefully that is, I was just dragged in a mess by the rest of the consorts, of course, that’s not an excuse for me agreeing into that mess but I wouldn’t have sat silently and do nothing while my mate did the stupid thing that includes her getting a little too close with other men."

" Yes," Orman eyed Cian with his eyes pointedly aiming at his face. " I can see that, you don’t have to explain that to me."

Well, that was generous.

" So why are you here?" Cian tried to stop the melody that was almost etched in his throat from coming out. " If you are not here for telling me off for trying to bite more than I could have chewed, why are you here?"

Orman shifted in his seat again tugging at his buttons as he sighed and then raised his guard again, before pinning him down with what one would call ’ I know what you are doing but I will like it if you stop when I am giving you a chance’ glare. " I am here for another reason, something much more important."

" Don’t tell me you want me to cry again so that you can fill the hole that Bien has made in the treasury of our family? Again. I told you that I will not be responsible if he does anything ever again." Bien, his third brother was a promiscuous man and went around spending the wealth of the Testa family as if it was some sort of infinity elixir that wouldn’t run out, last time when he made a mess, Cian had to sell his tears to make up for the huge hole that his brother has made in the treasury.

" I am not here to make you cry Cian," Orman looked at him with those hard sets of eyes that were so much like his father but minus the warmth. He stared closely at him, right as if he wanted to hunt him down. " I heard that you are barred from the bedroom of the Queen? Is it true that you have lost her favour?"
