The Dragon Queen and her mates.
Chapter 47: Taken orally

Chapter 47: Taken orally

Xander returned with a clean jug of water, before handing it to Dion who first as per protocols tested the water and only after he was done checking did he pour a glass of water to Bree who took it without saying anything, though she could sense the glare that Xander was aiming at Dion and her.

He glared at them for a few minutes but then when he couldn’t take it anymore, he snapped, " Do you think that I will poison the Queen in front of you?"

Dion only smiled as he looked at him and said, "It’s not like I don’t trust you but I have to follow the rules, Xander. If I don’t follow the protocols then wouldn’t I be putting her majesty in danger? I have nothing against you, I just want to do what an aide is supposed to do, after all, it is my responsibility, isn’t it? And quite honestly you haven’t given me any reason to trust you with your current display of attitude."

" You cat bastard——" Xander opened his mouth to hurl insults at Dion but the Ahmar scrunched up his eyebrows and let out a low painful moan, causing Xander to shut his mouth at once like a duck getting its neck choked.

" If you two want to fight then I think that you both should get out of the room," said Bree as she raised her hand and caressed the creases on Ahmar’s forehead, her hand moved on instinct since she was used to taking care of others but when she realised that Dion and Xander were staring at her in surprise, she immediately pulled her hand back and cleared her throat and said, " I —- one of you go and check on Kevin whether he is done brewing the potion or not if he hasn’t the ask him to hurry up, the second consort looks like he is in a lot of pain."

Xander snapped out of his daze and looked at Bree with a confused expression, he couldn’t understand how a woman can be cruel to his master one second and be caring the next. But then again there was a time when his brother told him that women were the most complicated creatures to understand, back then he didn’t take his brother’s words all too seriously but now that he was seeing the Dragon Queen acting hot one second and cold the next—-he sort of understood that his brother was right.

Females were indeed the most complicated creatures to understand!

" I will check up on Sir Kevin then," said Xander after he snapped out of his daze and looked at Bree with a sort of complicated look in his eyes.

He could more or less feel that the Queen wasn’t feigning her concern for his master but if she was really so concerned about him, why did she hurt him like that? And why did she send him to the black tower if she was going to feel bad for his master?

Xander believed that he understood the Queen but now that he was seeing another side of her, he couldn’t help but think that maybe he didn’t know her as well as he thought he did, she was a lot more difficult to understand than he expected her to be.

Getting to his feet, Xander crossed the room and walked out after crossing the door behind him.

Once he left Dion turned to look at Bree with the same confused look in his eyes, "Your majesty——"

" Don’t," she knew what Dion wanted to ask, and Bree wasn’t prepared to answer any question of his. She too couldn’t understand why she didn’t hate Ahmar as she should, was it the mating bond that was stopping her or was it her own kindness that was stopping her. " Don’t ask any questions at the moment."

Because she wasn’t sure of the answers either, she should be scared of Ahmar but unexpectedly she wasn’t... not when she saw how broken and afraid his beast was at the thought of her breaking their bond. If so did Ahmar share the same fears as his beast since the human and beast counterpart shared the same body... if Ahmar feared the breaking of their bond then why did he get entangled with Harley?

There were so many unanswered questions that she didn’t know the answers to, so how was she supposed to give out an answer?

Dion sensed that the Queen wasn’t in the best of her mood, she seemed to be having some sort of internal strife with herself and thus, he lowered his head and said, " As you wish your majesty."

Silenced dawned upon the two as Bree stared at Ahmar who was clutching onto her hand tightly as if he was afraid of losing her. Again.

The sound of someone opening the door broke the silence as Xander and Kevin walked in, the latter was holding a goblet that was smoking as if Kevin has poured a good amount of lava in it.

Bree’s eyes narrowed as Kevin brought the goblet to Ahmar’s bedside and then with an awkward expression said, " I am sorry for coming late your majesty, but the potion is difficult to concoct and I had to do it carefully since we had only a limited amount of dragon blood, if I had made any mistakes then it would have caused your majesty some trouble again."

" Like I would have allowed you to do that," Dion muttered under his breath.

Bree and the others of course heard what he said but they chose to ignore his murmur given there was no need to start another fight but of course, Xander pulled a long face as he glared at Dion seemingly muttering about how Dion didn’t care about Ahmar even though he was the second consort and he was just an aide.

Of course, Dion couldn’t ignore his mutterings and he shot back another retort which caused Xander to go red in anger.

" All right, that’s enough both of you," said Bree as she turned to look at Kevin. " Why are you waiting for then? If you are done concocting it then give it to the second consort."

" That’s the tricky thing, this antidote needs to be taken orally, your majesty."
