Chapter 276: Too stiff
"I don’t think you will be the one giving them the satisfaction," remarked Bree with a chuckle. "According to you, those brothers of hers are nothing but psychos; I don’t think they will wait for you to give them a reaction."
Bree knew how the heads of psychopaths worked. They might pretend that they were not planning out anything, but the second they set their eyes on someone, it was impossible for them to stop themselves from making a move. So it didn’t matter whether Yakov gave them satisfaction or not. Sooner or later, they would be the ones making a move.
Yakov didn’t respond because he knew that Bree was indeed right. Those men would certainly make a move on him one of these days.
"I will make sure that my personal matters do not cause any trouble for the imperial court, your majesty," said the man with a solemn look on his face. He then paused and said to Bree, "There is something else that I wanted to talk about."
"... If you are still going to harp about Blaise, I am telling you I don’t need to hear that."
Damn, that voice... It was like a seductive purr that scratched his heart and sent a tremor down his spine. And it didn’t take long for that tremor to hit him deep in his length. Yakov gritted his teeth when he felt his length hardening. "Don’t worry, your majesty. I am not going to continue talking about the matter anymore; the only reason I was willing to bring it up was because I was looking out for you but since you don’t want me to talk about it. I will keep my thoughts to myself."
Though he was not happy about it. There was nothing good about Blaise other than his pretty face. Although he was pretending that he didn’t care about it, the truth was he did. However, he couldn’t question Bree as the ruler of her harem, he had to be fair and broad-minded. He was nothing of those two things.
Yakov knew that he was not a brooder; after all, he was intuitive enough to sense what was amiss but with Bree, Yakov had no idea what was going on in her mind.
Bree heaved a sigh of relief because she truly had no desire to listen to any more lectures.
However, she could still hear the strain in his voice and turned to look at Yakov, whose expression was stiffer than his manners.
"You don’t seem to be happy."
"Of course I am not happy," Yakov gritted out, looking at Bree with a disbelieving expression. Did she expect him to be fine? How could he be when she was involved with that man? He clenched his teeth and stated, "I just expected something better from you, your majesty. But I guess I was the one who overestimated you."
Bree felt her dragon bristle at his tone. She turned around and straightened up her posture before folding her arms across her chest and questioned, "Excuse me, what do you mean by that you overestimated me?" She ignored the potent pull in his voice, which triggered her in a very wrong way.
"You do realise that this is not something you should be poking your nose into, right? I might be your mate but I am his too. I can stay with him if I want to."
Yakov felt his wolf let out a growl. He looked at Bree and sneered, "You mean to say that its none of my business? Your majesty, you might not know this but as your official consort, I should be given the chance to be with you but now I have to watch my rights being ignored just like my existence. Do you even know the embarrassment I have to feel when others find out that I was pushed to one side by the other consorts despite being the main consort? I would be laughed at until I can no longer raise my head."
He bit his words as he stepped forward and looked at Bree with a sneer. "But I guess its nothing in the eyes of your majesty?"
Bree tensed. Although Yakov was a very dominant wolf, he was quietly assertive and forceful.
He had never raised his voice or lost his temper. Thus, when he lowered his voice like this, Bree knew that the man was royally pissed off.
However, Bree was not bothered by his change in temper. She knew that Yakov would not hurt her and even if he tried to hurt her, she was skilled enough to deal with this man. Her instinct crawled right against her skin and she snapped at Yakov, "Its not that I am treating you like nothing."
"I just think that I should have the right to choose with whom I want to spend my nights. Rather than doing it because its my duty, I think I would rather do it because I want to. Don’t you think so?"
"Your majesty!"
Bree rolled her eyes and walked away. See, this was what she disliked about this guy the most. He was all about rules and regulations. Just because she was supposed to do it with him before anyone else, she needed to ignore all about what she wanted and grit her teeth and do it with him?
"Your majesty, stop ignoring me!" Yakov chased after the woman when he saw her walk away.
"I am not ignoring you... I just feel disassociated with this conversation." Bree waved her hand and then walked away without listening to what the man was talking about.
Yakov watched her go and his expression shifted again and again. He was truly annoyed with how easily the woman had turned him away. He gritted his teeth and suppressed the desire to march over where she was standing and then grab hold of her. He wanted to ask her what exactly he was lacking that she was turning him away.
He didn’t mind Blaise taking her, but as long as he was her first.
