Chapter 275: Jealousy
Chapter 275: Jealousy
"First consort," Blaise greeted Yakov with a polite smile on his lips. He didn’t say anything else and calmly looked at the man, who looked more than just displeased. He leaned in close to Bree and said, "He is going to warn you. I am sure he will begin with the words, I am not good for you and you should avoid me even though I am married to you as there is no shortage of consorts who die as virgins."
She turned to look at him before turning to look at Yakov, who was scowling at Blaise and she knew that the man was not wrong. Her first consort was indeed quite pissed. In fact, he was more than just being pissed.
"Well, I think he will do that."
"He thinks that I am too evil."
"Aren’t you?"
"I am but I am a sweetheart when it comes to you, Your Majesty," winked Blaise. He then added, "And just so you know, I am not going to stay away from you. Getting in your bed is like my dream goal."
As he spoke, he didn’t forget to brush his fingers against her shoulder, and Bree shuddered. She had to admit that this man was really smooth with his actions. She pursed her lips and then stepped inside the palace. She didn’t know what game Blaise was playing and didn’t want to be dragged into his mess.
However, just as she left, she heard the man whisper in her ear.
"I will have you, my queen, even if it kills me... I will have you."
She raised her hand and touched her ear before turning to look behind her in shock. She did not expect the man to use his magic to pass on these words to her; as Bree turned around, she saw Blaise raise his hand and wink at her.
Exasperated, she turned around and climbed faster. Behind her was Yakov, who was trying his best to create a distance between the two of them. If there was anything more embarrassing than being treated like a girl who was not aware of what was good for her and what was not, Bree didn’t know what it was.
Just as Blaise expected, Yakov chased after her and once the two of them were alone, she heard Yakov say to her in a voice that was nothing less than a burning whip, "Your majesty, don’t fall for his slick words. He is nothing but trouble. I heard all about him before he mated with you; that man used to be okay with playing with women. He strung women as he liked them and then threw them aside because he thought that none of them mattered to him. Or that they were not worth his time."
"Just because he didn’t reach the last stage doesn’t mean that he was not involved with other things. He is nothing but a man slut. Even worse than the fourth consort if I am being honest."
"Are you sure you are telling me these things because you are not jealous, first consort?" Bree asked with a teasing note in her voice.
Yakov paused before adding swiftly, "I am not a man with such a low tolerance. As your official husband, I know that I need to be much more open towards such things. Of course, I will not say such things for no reason. It is just that I don’t want to see you get hurt, your majesty."
"I am not a sixteen-year-old who will get hurt over something like this." Bree was not someone who would let a man fool into taking away her virtue and even if there was an internal strife going on between the men who would sleep with her first, Bree had nothing to do with it.
She would sleep with them if she wanted and if she didn’t, then she wouldn’t. After all, she had no desire to stay in this world for long. She had hoped that after the plot crashed she would return home but something went awry and she was still stuck in this place.
She had no choice but to live as Brianna Dragniere.
Yakov pursed his lips and gritted his teeth so hard that it was nearly audible. He knew what Bree was saying was indeed the truth and she was a big girl who could handle these things but he was terrified at the notion when he thought about how Bree would be won over by cheesy words and let that man take her to the bed before him.
"Your majesty, I am being serious."
"And I am being serious as well," stated Bree. She glanced at the man with a raised brow and asked him, "What about the matter that I asked you to handle? Is the woman dealt with? What about her brothers?"
"I have asked Elder Axton to deal with his niece as for her brothers... he said that these men were fools when it came to their sister. Even if he tries to warn them, they cannot be stopped."
"I don’t think they will be foolish enough to keep sending me memoranda or barge into the court to cause trouble?" questioned Bree, as that would be the last thing she would need when troubles are falling on her one after another.
"I don’t think so," Yakov shook his head and stated coldly, "These men are proud of their own lands, which means that they will wait for me and then corner me somewhere."
Bree hummed as she remarked, "I think we should deal with them rather than wait for them to make a move."
"I think we are busy enough with tasks at hand; there is no need for us to chase down a bunch of loonies." Yakov looked at Bree, who frowned and tucked a strand of her hair behind her ear. His wolf purred, feeling upset and angry with Yakov for not doing it sooner. If he had, then they would at least have the chance to touch Bree’s shiny hair; that was hard to resist. "And I think we shouldn’t give them the satisfaction of getting on our nerves."
