The Dragon Queen and her mates. -
Chapter 271: Interrogation
Chapter 271: Interrogation
When they pulled up outside of the Bandit Pack, Bree was beyond irritated. And she was not irritated because of the fact that the scent of jackals made her dragon hiss with hatred. It was because of Blaise, who, despite having the entire carriage to himself, sat next to her and he spent the entire ride teasing her with his subtle touches and smiles that promised nothing but sensual pleasure.
This bastard was trying to pull every move to seduce her.
Thus, by the time the carriage pulled outside the pack, Bree was half relieved and half annoyed by the sudden freedom she gained.
"Smells like a bunch of pathetic assholes come here," remarked Blaise as he smelled the scent wafting out from the inside of the pub. "Do you think they would let me take a swipe on them first? My cat is kind of antsy."
His cat hissed and spat at the pub while swiping his claw at the surface. He was really upset with these beasts who tried to attack and endanger their mate. But then again, his cat was never really happy unless he was being cuddled by Bree.
Something that rarely happens.
"If you want to make things go bad from the start, then I suppose you can," spoke Dion in a wary voice. He looked at the bunch of shifters inside the pub; they were not jackals but they seemed to be hanging around the small tavern because of the redhead who was smiling and flashing her teeth at the men who were eyeing her as if they wanted to see how long her legs were inside that skirt of her dress. "If we try to disrupt their fun, I am afraid that they will get involved in a fight that is not theirs to begin with."
"Who cares?" Blaise stated with a smile that promised a blood bath. He did not care about what happened to these minions as long as he could draw the blood of the man who tried to harm his mate. He was quite lucky that he was willing to wait till now; if Bree had allowed him, he would have killed Nicholas the very day suspicious marks were found near the palace.
"Let’s head inside." Bree glanced at Blaise, who was staring at the pub as if he were thinking of which spell to use to blast the entire building into pieces of bits and rubble before turning to look in the front. She did not want the people inside to die before she could get her hands on some valuable information.
It was as if the two of them had planned their entrance more than ten times. Bree entered the pub with Blaise closely following behind with Dion and two guards taking care of the rear. It was a sight that caught the attention of the entire pub, causing the shifters inside to freeze as they looked at Bree and Blaise with identical shocked expressions.
Bree was known for her ill temper and given that she was looking as if she were here to settle some scores, everyone could sense that there was going to be trouble. And to make things worse, Blaise, whose fame was just as chaotic and scary, was following her. The shifters looked at the two of them and then turned to exchange glances with one another, their fight or flight instinct propelling within them.
"What are you looking at, huh?" Blaise turned to look at the shifters who were peeking at them with a rabid smile, making the entire establishment empty within seconds. Bree, on the other hand, turned to look at Nicholas, who was sitting at the inner corner of the pub, surrounded by the people who were most likely the fighters of his pack.
He raised his head and looked at Bree with a cold look in his eyes. But his lips were curled in a smile as he questioned, "Can I ask why Her Majesty is showing such bold and antagonistic behaviour in my territory? As far as I know, I have done nothing."
"Are you sure that you have done nothing?" Bree asked with an arched brow.
"I wasn’t the one who did the lurking."
Bree bared her teeth and snarled, "But you knew about it, right?"
"We were asked to do it but we refused. Someone else must have taken the job."
"Then I guess you also know who picked up this job?" Bree asked with a low snarl as if reacting to the anger of his mate; Blaise fluidly moved forward and placed his hands on the table. The entire wooden table got engulfed with flames and he said to Nicholas, "You better tell us the truth, Flames. Or else I don’t mind you reuniting with your ancestors."
"I–"
"Just so you know this is not an interrogation," stated Bree in a cool manner. "If it was, then it wouldn’t be my third consort questioning you; it would be my second consort who would peel your skin off your body and then stamp it back up once he was done with you. You better tell me who was the one who picked up this ballsy job and we can be done with this matter."
Nicholas didn’t seem to care as he tapped his fingernails on the table."I asked Your Majesty to let my people and I be part of the empire. It is funny how you want us to be loyal to you but you wouldn’t give us what we want."
"You want me to approve your citizenship in exchange for opening your mouth?"
The man simply shrugged and smiled in a devious manner. "I am not trying to go against you, Your Majesty. It’s just business; after all, you know that half of the people in the empire itself don’t hold any respect for you. It is just what you can do for them. I am the same."
Bree stared at the man before smiling and her smile sent chills down the bones of the men who were looking at her. "I have to say that you have guts, Nicholas. But I can fix that up in a jiffy, as I can rip them out of your body and shove them up your arse. How about that? Would you like it?" She smirked and added, "I believe that will give you more action than you had in your life?"
