The guard announced their arrival and the entire ballroom that was filled with chatter suddenly went quiet, when Bree stepped inside the glass ballroom, she could even hear the sound of her heels clicking against the crystal surface, Blaise stood next to her with a smile playing on his lips as he glanced around the nobles. His eyes flickered slightly as he looked at the people who were staring up at them, with a grin he looked down the railing and stared at the crowd under him before he licked his lips and said, "It seems that the nobles of the southern ocean district have a very short term memory, have you all forgotten what my wife has told you about looking straight at her, is it that you don’t want to listen to her or is that you just don’t have any respect towards her order." He paused and then turned to look at Bree with an inquisitive expression as he asked, " Your majesty, what should we do to people like them who can’t even understand such a small thing?"

Bree glanced at the crowd who was now looking down at the floor but was still not lowering its head and said calmly, " What else the last time anyone dared to show me disrespect, I had cut their necks off...maybe I should try to do the same this time as well, this way they would have a very clear idea as to what they can or cannot do. After all, I have heard from others that people remember what they see better than what they hear, what do you all say? Should I choose one of you and show what I do to this blatant disrespect?"

At once the heads of the obnoxious nobles lowered and they all turned to stare at the floor, it was true that they didn’t respect Bree as their ruler given that she was a woman but they knew it well enough that even though she was a woman she could still have them killed as per her wishes.

" Forgive us, your majesty," the nobles said at once as if they were sincerely begging for forgiveness, seeing them like this Bree thought that it was funny, they clearly knew the power she held in her hands yet they were foolish enough to think that they can fool her and take the power of the Empire in their hands, certainly there had to be something wrong with their brains.

Bree smiled as if she just didn’t threaten them with their lives, she even took back her alpha vibes and simply said, " Why are you all so scared of me like that? I was just joking certainly I wouldn’t make things difficult for people who are loyal and trustworthy but of course, those who betray me will have to go through a life that would be worse than death, I hope that neither of you will do anything that will make me disappointed."

As she said those words, her dominance seems to have infiltrated her every move, the entire batch of nobles shivered, they didn’t think that Bree knew anything about their plans but as they have done something to be guilty of, their hearts couldn’t help but be terrified under the aura of the dragon queen, even Duke Cilantro who has just arrived felt as if he has been smacked in the face with the most terrible poison that he has seen, he was scared enough that his legs started trembling and if not for his aide he would have fallen to his butt.

" Wh...Why is the Queen saying such words?" He said with a smile after he was pinched on his waist by his aide and somehow steadied himself, it wasn’t that he wanted to show the fear on his face but the aura of the Dragon Queen wasn’t something that ordinary shifters could withstand the second he was forced to stand in front of the Dragon Queen when she was on rampant made him quite flustered. " There is no way that we will have such thoughts in our hands, we are loyal to our queen through and through."

" Of course, I know that," retracting her dominant vibes, Bree turned to look at the Duke who was looking at her with an awkward smile. She strode towards the man and then patted him on the shoulders before winking at him slightly, " This is something that I just have to say in case anyone has any bad intentions towards me, after all, every time I catch a traitor they would say some things that would make me upset, by telling everyone that they will be courting death if they betrayed me, I am just trying to get rid of the trouble happening in the future."

After that, she proffered her arm and allowed Blaise to guide her down the outstretched balcony inside the ballroom and headed straight towards the floor where the ball was taking place.

Seeing her go, Duke Cilantro leaned back to his aide and said, " You have prepared everything properly, haven’t you? I don’t want any mistakes!"

" Don’t worry sir, I have asked one of our shadow guards to work as a server tonight, I am sure he will be able to take down just anyone with a few moves," replied the aide with a confident gaze.

" Tsk, tsk, the Duke’s shadow guards are really not that easy to take care of are they?" said Bracken as he swept the nonexistent dust that was sticking to his coat and sighed with slight dejection as he looked at the man whom they have tied down with ropes, for the special occasion they were given special glasses that would allow them to open their eyes by Blaise who did not want anyone catching either him or Aileen. " I had to use two extra moves to take him down."

Aileen dragged the other shadow guard and dumped him next to the one that was caught by Bracken and calmly looked at the two before turning to look in the dark corner behind the horse stable as he said, " I cannot find the vial of the mermaid’s blood in their clothes."

" Of course, you can’t," said Yakov as he strode out of the dark corner of the stable and then walked closer to the two men who were on the floor in front of him with a calm and blank expressions. " If someone handed the job of killing someone to me, I wouldn’t have done something as stupid as carrying the poison in my clothes." He leaned down and grabbed hold of the jaw of the two men and smiled deviously, " I would do it in a way where no one would be able to find it."

He twisted his hands and the jaw of the man snapped with a loud popping sound only then Yakov stood up straight and then turned to look at the two men behind him as he said, " Take a look inside their mouth, in case they didn’t have anything there then move down and go as far as you can, I bet we will find something."

Hearing his words the two shadow bodyguards shivered, they didn’t think that the first consort would be such a ruthless person. They were wary of the third consort who was with the queen but they never placed any importance to the man in front of them but looks like they were a fool to think that this scholarly man was no threat, he was the biggest threat!

Aileen and Bracken exchanged a look and then they took out the gloves that they used while investigating things, only then did they crouch down and inserted a finger each in the mouth of the two men, because Yakov was faster than them, he stopped them from committing suicide and even if they had committed suicide it would not have mattered to him after all he just wanted to take care of the mermaid blood and nothing else.

It didn’t take long for Aileen and Bracken to find what they were looking for, turn out that these shadow guards were actually hamster shifters, they were wearing a mask cologne to hide their scents but as they found the pouch that was inside their mouths, Aileen and Bracken immediately understood what was going on, with the help of their gloved fingers they scratched the needles that were filled with mermaid blood out one by one and then turned to look at Yakov who smiled and picked up one of those red coloured needles piled in the hands of Aileen. " Looks like you were planning to drive my wife mad," his eyes coldly flickered as he looked at the two men in front of him and sneered. " Very well then, since the Duke wants to let such a fun event take place how can I not play along with him."

He clenched the bloody needle in his hands and said softly, " I will be leaving, I need to go and take a look at the ballroom. As for these men..." he peered down at them imperiously and said softly, " Have them suffer a bit before taking care of them."
