" Has everything been prepared?" The Duke asked for the hundredth time as he turned to look at his aide who lowered his head and cursed him in the head before raising his head and taking a look at the Duke with a wide smile. " Yes milord, everything has been set.. the Queen would not be able to escape today no matter what."

After brainstorming for a long time Duke Cilantro and Duke Balzac came up with the idea of intoxicating the Queen with the blood of a mermaid. They were rare creatures and the empire placed a strict prohibition on the illegal trade of the blood of the mermaid, however even though the empire has put a stop to the illegal buying and selling of the blood of mermaids, the black market has always been on the move no matter what.

The blood of a mermaid was even more tempting than any drug they could procure that was why they have come up with the plan of adding a few drops of blood in the drinks of the dragon queen as long as the blood of the mermaid touches the lips of the Queen, she will be thoroughly stuck in the taste of that drink, when that happens they will be able to use it to their advantage, after all, there was no escaping from the labyrinth of the mermaid’s blood.

One taste and the person will be addicted to it for all their life.

Once the Dragon queen has a taste of the mermaid’s blood she will be thoroughly addicted to it to the point where she will start having hallucinations and would be too wrapped up in her own head where will she get the time to even care about them? So when the Dragon Queen and her consorts would be busy among themselves, he will take advantage of the situation to call the knights and then create a distraction making sure that there were no knights patrolling the orphanage, only then will he be able to make a move and remove those phoenix offsprings from the premise of that orphanage, he has to be discreet, fast and really sneaky.

But the fact was that even after making sure of everything the Duke could not help but feel that something was really wrong and the more his gut feeling told him that they might make a mistake the more the Duke felt antsy.

" It’s good that there is nothing wrong but if anything goes wrong then I will not let you off," he glared at his aide with a silver warning shining within his eyes. " I am depending on you, if you make so much as a small mistake while dragging the Queen down then you can rest assured that the pot of blame will fall on your head all right?"

The aide also knew it, so he didn’t say anything he just nodded his head and then turned to look at the small curvaceous bottle of blood resting on the cabinet next to him. This time they have to be prepared, no mistake was allowed to happen.

" I believe that you have prepared everything?" Yakov asked as he strode inside Blaise’s room, the archmage was still changing his clothes and when he heard someone open the door he blinked his eyes and then took a look at the man who was striding inside his room as bold as brass and couldn’t help but click his tongue in anger. "Are you for real? Can’t you at least knock on my door before entering, I mean what if I wasn’t wearing pants?"

Yakov paused and then his gaze dropped to Blaise’s crotch before he shook his head and sighed. " That would have been such a disappointment for you wouldn’t it ?"

Blaise’s face turned into that of a pig liver before he inhaled sharply and looked at Yakov with a dark expression as he said, " Do you want me to turn you into a mutt and let you run amok in the ball? If you are so willing then you might as well say it outright, there is no need for you to go around in circles like that, all right?"

" I will like to see you try but be rest assured even as a mutt I will scratch your face and pee on your dress pants, I am afraid that you will not be able to attend the ball either," said Yakov with a pleasant smile playing on his lips but his eyes were terribly cold as he looked at the man in front of him. " If that happens then surely you and I will get into another conflict and then her majesty will be in trouble because of our lack of cooperation, so I hope that you will not do something that will create trouble for our queen."

Blaise snorted but he let his hand drop on his side before throwing off his shirt that he was clutching in his hands and said in a nonchalant manner, " I didn’t mean to let you know this but I am taller than you."

" And what do you mean by that ?"

" The taller one is the bigger that thing is."

When a loud smack echoed in the corridor, Bree who was handling her dress while heading towards Blaise’s room jumped up slightly before turning around to look at the dark corridor behind her. " Why is it that I feel like someone was hit rather hard?"

Bloom blinked her eyes naively before shrugging her shoulder and then motioning Bree to walk alongside her. " Walk close with me your majesty, that way you won’t feel scared."

However, while she said that her entire being was trembling like a leaf in the storm but she was somehow still looking cold and stoic with her face having that blank expression.

Seeing her like this Bree no longer felt as spooky as she was feeling before instead she turned around and patted the girl on the shoulder as she said, " Don’t worry everything is all right, okay?"

Bloom nodded and then the two of them walked towards Blaise’s room, Bree wanted to knock on the door but Bloom beat her to it, she raised her hand and hurriedly knocked on the door before saying, " The Queen is here."

Her voice was loud and it echoed in the entire corridor making the scrambling noise in the room get even faster before the door was pulled open, as soon as the door opened, their mouth dropped Bloom was still a bit reserved as she looked at the man in front of her, was this really the always cold and stoic reserved looking master of the tower, what happened to him?

" What happened to you?" Unlike Bloom who was silently muttering the question in her head, Bree asked the said question out loud as she stared at Blaise whose hair was scratched and pulled like he was in a fight in a fish market. Was this some new hairstyle that she didn’t know about?

"It’s nothing," Blaise replied with a dazzling smile, it was the height of how handsome he was that even with a chicken coop on top of his head, was able to look handsome somehow. " I seemed to have done something wrong while experimenting and this was the reaction, don’t worry, your majesty. I will take care of this in a minute."

And he snapped his fingers before setting it right.

His silvery hair turned smooth and perfect before Bree nodded her head and said, " Okay, so are you ready to leave for the ball? And where is first consort, I went to see him but he wasn’t in his room, Aileen told me that he went to look for you but I don’t see him."

" Haha, that ... the first consort did come to see me but he left to see what was happening behind the scenes," said Blaise as he turned around and picked up the jacket that was draped on the rack and threw it over his shoulders as he said, "Let’s go your majesty."

After he shut the door behind him and dragged Bree away from the front of his room, the door was pulled open again and Yakov with the same chicken coop on his head walked out, his face was dark and his expression was that of questioning life. Why was it that he became just as childish as the third consort?

The ball that Duke Cilantro was holding was in the small glass dome that was behind his mansion, with recording crystal stones called reck stones glittering in all the corners of the glass building, Bree’s eyes caught one and she blinked before turning to look at Blaise as she said, " This..."

" Everything will be fine your majesty," he said before she could ask anything. " Just keep on smiling and do what you are supposed to do." He was whispering in Bree’s ear making it look like he was having a sort of personal conversation with his wife before raising his head and smiling at the guard who was standing in front of the glass building. " Announce our arrival."
