Chapter 204: Magical creature appeared! Oh no!

"Hiyaa!" Bree whipped her horse as she guided it to the forest, flanked by Yakov and Blaise on both sides. Just as she expected the Duke didn’t give her the dogs that were strong on the other hand he gave her the ones that could be considered below average at most. Of course, he didn’t make it sound like he was looking down at her at all instead he praised her skills and continued to praise her until she decided to just drop off the entire thing and agreed to let him take the stronger ones with him. She has to admit that even if she didn’t want to, the duke was a rather smart man.

Not once did he make it sound like he was looking down on her on the contrary he made it sound like he was really looking up at her. He told her about how with her strength she didn’t have to rely upon the guard dogs, instead, it was nobles like him who didn’t know how to take care of themselves that they have to look around themselves and look for a way to protect themselves if not for the guard dogs they will have a hard time taking care of their safety precautions.

In the end, Bree simply let him do whatever he wanted to do because there was no other way for her to solve this thing it wasn’t as if she could have denied him could she? If she has said anything then it would have made him suspicious of her, Bree in the end took the three hunting dogs with her and the bunch of nobles that were carefully selected by the Duke to keep an eye on her.

" You look too tense your majesty, please look a bit relaxed," said Yakov as he looked at Bree from his peripheral view and then took a glance at the nobles behind them, he could see that they were looking at him and Bree with sharp gazes as if hoping to see something happen. He knew that the Duke wouldn’t have left them alone but he didn’t think that he would think of such an intricate plan, he might as well have come up with the idea of keeping them and setting guards up after them so they will be under his scrutiny the entire time.

But that was no way Bree could have acted as if there was nothing wrong with her surroundings pretending as if she was completely fine. She could feel the gazes of the nobles that were locked on her back, they were looking at her as if she was a piece of juicy rabbit that they wanted to gobble up. She was of course nowhere as innocent as a rabbit but right now the gazes locked on her back did make her feel icky.

" Easy for you to say," she muttered under her breath as she glanced at the nobles who were walking behind her and then huffed in anger. " They all are waiting for me to mess up such that they can let the entire empire know how much of a despicable queen I am."

" They are even carrying the mana recorder," Blaise clicked his tongue while he looked at the men behind him, they all seemed to have thought that they were carrying themselves with apparent grace and that they would not be caught but there was nothing that could escape his eyes. He was the archmage of the magic tower such things were something that will never escape his eyes, did they think that a majority of mana recorder was something that he wouldn’t be able to detect what fools.

Though mana recorders were small pieces of equipments that were hard to detect when they were present in bulk it was possible for mages as strong as him to easily catch on the frequency of the mana recorder that they emitted while they were recording something. He caught on the frequency waves the second they turned the magic recorder on and he knew better than them where they were hiding it while they were walking towards them.

" you see that?" said Bree as she looked at Yakov with a snort. " We haven’t even started on the hunt yet they are already recording me, I bet with all the precautions we have taken it won’t be enough."

" Don’t worry my queen, we have made sure that no one would be able to catch us." Blaise winked at her with a cheeky smile. " I have worked hard and I am sure that nothing is going to go wrong, you just have to hold on to hope."

Bree really did hold on to the so-called hope, she has never believed in god or angles but at this moment she wanted to believe in them and as the time passed by without any appearance of the magical creatures her hopes started to exceed, she believed that she would be fine that the hunt would end without them sighting any magical creatures, as she picked up her arrows and shot the animals like elk and rabbits that passed by her procession.

Yakov even dealt with a tiger, Blaise was pretending to be Ahmar which was why he couldn’t use his magic at the moment instead he looked around the entire hunting ground with his face covered as if the scent of blood bothered him.

Apart from Yakov, the consorts have never made any appearance in front of nobles that were of no importance that was why Bree was able to pass Blaise off as Ahmar because she knew that if the Duke was to realise that Blaise was the archmage then they would have more problems. For the snake’s tail to make an appearance it was important for her to act as if she was completely defenceless.

And as another hour ticked by she thought that she would be able to do it but then one of the nobles behind her shouted in glee and said, " A magical creature! I can see that there is a magical creature at least then feet away from us!"

This time not only Bree’s but even Yakov and Blaise’s expressions changed as they all turned to look at the compass that the noble with a wild mane of hair was holding in his hand, he seemed to be rejoicing as he pointed in the direction of the waterfall, while the compass in his hands moved like crazy it was as if the thing has found something really interesting.

As soon as Bree’s gaze fell on the compass her facial expression twisted because the compass was not at all like a common compass instead it was like those super technical ones that she has never seen in her life. Currently, its needle was pointing at a vivid blue as it quivered and pointed in a certain direction.

There was no time for her to think anything, all she could think was that she has to arrive at the spot where the compass was pointing before the Duke could because if she didn’t then she would not only lose the magical creature, but the plan of stopping the Duke would also become a failure.

She squeezed the side of her horse and like a bullet the horse shot towards the direction where she was heading, she could hear Blaise chanting a bunch of complicated spells under his breath as their procession slowly got covered by white mist but she could hear the sound of the Duke heading towards the same direction as her as well. She could hear their loud jeers and loud boisterous shouts of glee.

" They are really sick!" Yakov muttered under his breath as he looked at the shadows of the Duke procession as they headed towards the waterfall because the waterfall was so close no one questioned the pearly white mist in fact at this moment when the excitement was running this high Bree was sure that no one could be bothered about the mist at all.

The jeers became louder and louder as they all rushed to the waterfall and then Bree saw the Duke laughing as he aligned the arrow on his bow, she followed his gaze and was stunned speechless when she saw that he was actually aiming at a child!

"Your majesty, take aim and leave everything else to me!" Blaise shouted from her left and she did as he asked, she notched the arrow on her bow and then aimed, because of the tension her hands were trembling but then she heard Yakov’s voice as he calmly dictated to her, " Take a deep breath your majesty and think about why you are doing this ...you have to keep your eyes on your goal."

The trembling of her hands stopped slightly at least enough for her to take proper aim, then Bree stretched the string of her bow and let the arrow shoot at the magical creature just as Blaise muttered a curse and the hunting dogs went mad.
